I have the same exact roofing system and mine leaks and since I do not have the money to replace the roof then I am stuck. Although, I would like to know if these shingles are available to homeowners in California?
Do you mean the lock? it is actually 3/4" overlapping (interlocking) mechanism, which is more than adequate, and makes the system very durable. Remember - the locks are on all four sides and the shingle is only 1 sq. ft.
I know about Interlock being sued in Hawaii & in many Canadian provinces, but you are missing the point - the installing company gets sued, & because of faulty installation, not because of bad product.
We are currently replacing an interlock roof in Hartford CT, but not because it failed - there was a fire, & the customer still wants a metal roof, but does not want to work with interlock.
Basically the system is great, but as any other roof - if installed incorrectly - it will leak!
2314guy: There may be many different interlocking roofing systems, but there is only ONE Interlock Roofing, Ltd., seller of the Interlock® Lifetime Metal Roofing Systems... the one shown in this video.
There are all kinds of testimonials on this roofing system, but it's no longer possible to discern between honesty and the shills. The vast majority of search results all come from Interlock Roofing web sites under hundreds of different names. Try it!!
@GindyBrat1954 Here is where you are wrong brother - these shingles are manufactured by aluminum shingles company and not by interlock.
They are the same design and are stamped the same way, so essentially they are the same as interlock's shingle but they are not.
Still i'd use either interlock shingle or this one - they are both great metal roofing system - it's all in the installation. If you install it wrong - it will leak.
This roof was installed in Revere MA 2 yrs ago - no leaks at all
PS - Revere, Massachusetts is located along the ocean, and this roof is installed on a house in a Point of Pines neighborhood - 200 feet from the ocean. So every storm off the water hits this roof. Strong winds, lots of rains and snow, and salt in the air. This roof is 100%, just like it was when we installed it in 2008.
Point is - it all comes down to how well it is installed. I've seen metal roofs blown off - we did one on IHOP rest. in Hyannis, MA, 1/2 the roof was gone.
badjuea comments on all the vids i guess he dosn't know that there is many different interlocking roofs and its not the product its the install methad
I agree with badjura. There should be no mystery in installing. Looks simple in the video but I believe badjura and will never buy this since there are no testimonials.
I've ripped off 1 roof, and every shingle had leaked. if it wasnt for the underlay, and the seccond layer of shingles underneath, there would have definately been more damage. They had a waranty, but were simply unsatisfied and paid for a new ashphault roof, rather than getting a new free interlock roof... Now what does that tell ya? Anyone I know that has dealt with these interlocks, all claim the same thing, Not to mention the aluminum nails get left behind with the magnet.
Do you have pictures of your roof? The part when metal was removed and water damage.
We never had any problems with our roof installations and this systems has been around since 1948 - it obviously works, otherwise it would not be produced for such a long time - 61 years now.
My best guess is that you got bad installers putting your roof up. It does not matter how good a product is, if it is installed incorrectly. Still, I honestly believe this is the best designed metal roof.
I am not sure who installed it, nor do I have any pictures. I install shingles, mostly architectual and 3 tab. The shingles that we removed were hexagon shapes, and the top 3 sides all had some sort of mildew under the interlocking lips.
PS, who installed your metal roof, and where is it? I'm sure there is a reason why your roof leaked, aside from "it's a bad roof". There was an installation error(s) that lead to leaks.
I'm sorry to hear you went through all these hassles.
slate is awesome I'll give you that but the Standing Seem Metal Roofing Systems are gonna kick slate's ass bro, The SSR system is pure genius and properly installed will never leak, will not rust and will LAST FOR a LIFETIME. there's a 35 year warranty on the paint, it's 24 gauge steel. This aluminum crap is exactly that CRAP. Slate or SSR best ways to go.
there is only 1 type of lasting and good quality roof and that is genuine slate roofing as slate looks better and works better than anything, anything other than slate is rubbish and looks like crap! and is CRAP!!
This is the worst roof on the market. The 50 year warranty isn't worth the paper its written on. Google Interlock roof or fin all roof for all the rip-off reports. Mine leaks!!
Dude - interlock is a manufacturer / installer of SIMILAR roofing product. Their main problem is not the product - faulty installations. I know interlock well and know people working there.
As I said, it is the bad installation that makes you say "its crap".
The way they run installation crews here in MA would be completely different from other parts of US and Canada. Here they have good and bad installers, but the problem is the management / installer relations and it all comes down to money
Management does not want to pay adequately and installers skip on important things.
This is not always the case but I know for a fact, this happens and often at homeowners expense.
Still, you should not call the product crap. It is a good product. You just got bad installers .
We are an independent metal roofing contractor and for us, quality is the main priority. Thats why NONE of our roofs leak, and ALL my customers are happy with products and services. You can ask them!
Now i'm wondering where the hurtful forms of comments are.

Not enough adhesion to the roof. I can see a tornado or hurricane lifting these shingles right off.
