@etocadet they never said they dont belive him they just find it hilarious how he thinks that that scenario happens everytime. that the guy drops the other lizards etc :P
oh, funnelweb's are also very aggresive and are pretty decent jumpers, if you have any in your yard you pretty much have to kill them because if you get too close they jump at you trying to bite you. Oh and you DO need to be treated in the first 15 minutes or you will probably die.
just letting everyone know the spider they're talking about is a funnel web it can stay underwater for approx. 24hrs or something its in sydney (like me) and causes big problems in suburban pools - i don't know why they go in pools i think its to cool down. they normally hang around the pool filter, i think every parent in sydney checks his pool filter before letting their children swim. So in other words, Karl's right (even though it sounds crazy)
ricky "animals dont do things they LIKE to do?" what a fuckwit - thats how the majority of the animal kingdom operate...and its what separates humanity from animals as humans have obligations other than just living to satisfy your base iunstincts...hes such a fat belligerent obnoxious cunt....after karl makes a few quid hell be fuckin off somewhere
@tiarnan76 I think what he meant was a spider can't ''like'' anything (its incapable of such emotions and thoughts) it operates soley on intstinct, instincts that have evolved for very specific reasons like makin webs to catch prey and shit. spiders dont do anything recreational like humans do
sorry bout the pointless comment but Im a pathological over-analyser
@PLAY10000 are you saying all animals act purely out of instinct (not including humans)? Or just spiders and insects etc....and if youre a pathological over analyser then this should be fun ;)
@tiarnan76 No it isn't. They do things on instinct, they don't have the ability to 'like' something. And you call him a fuck wit? As for Karl funcking off somewhere, you're aware that they're really good mates. He won't be going anywhere. You're a complete tool.
@limey157 of course they have the ability to like things. An obvious example would be catnip, which has no benefit to cats at all but they love the stuff.
@endofthewhirled It gives the a physical almost chemical stimulation though. So whilst it may seem to give them enjoyment, it is different from an animal having a thought process and the emotion of them liking it. Which is the original point from this clip.
@limey157 That's exactly how chemical responses work in the brain of any animal, human or otherwise. It's bona fide enjoyment, same as in humans since it works in EXACTLY the same way.
I used to work in a tropical fish centre (In England), we found a common house spider and put it inside the south American cichlids and it tried to swim around and several fish sucked it into it's mouth and spat it back out, it was in that tank for over 5 mins and was still alive when we took it back out, it was fully submergerd all the time.
Find "David Attenbourgh Life program shrimp and fish living toghther."
The shrimp and gobys living arrangments are just amazing.
Funnel Web Spiders can create an air bubble around themselves and can survive under water for a very long period of time.....weeks I think. That is what Karl is talking about. I have seen a funnel web in my friends pool in Sydney, Australia.
