...They start sound crappy when you delete the tailpipe and run a turn down...just sounds like noise. Always had complements on the trails. If you're worried about clearance and rocks pinching it (which i've had happen and used a pry bar to open it back up) have the shop weld a hanger to the frame rail and tuck it higher up. That solved my problem.
I've ran many setups on the 6 Jeeps that I've owned. Hands down the FM 40's series delta flow sounded the best on both the 2.5L and 4.0L they were on. The key is making sure you KEEP a tailpipe. Have the muffler shop replace the stock tailpipe with a slightly larger (.25 of an inch) diameter pipe to match the outlet on the new muffler. The tone really sounds better when you still run it over and out beside the fuel tank using the stock hanger.
@jeep51184 i have always have had problems with my tailpipe hitting my shock when it flexes and it even hits my track bar sometimes. A nice tailpipe tip helps with making it sound deeper too
I've been trying to figure out which exhaust to go with and everybody says banks, but I was worried that it would sound obnoxious....now I know it doesn't. Thanks for the post. By the way, they both sound real good.
why would you put a sound track to a video comparing exhaust SOUND. kind ruins the point of the video...
