This was one of the few cartoon shorts, other than their own New York studio's output, that Paramount distributed during the mid-'60s (this was released in the summer of 1966). The music WAS taken directly from two tracks- "Spanish Flea" and "Tijuana Taxi"- featured on Herb and The Brass' 1965 album, "Going Places" [the opening excerpt was "Mexican Shuffle", from 1964's "South of the Border"].
I learned DRAWING I with Gerard Baldwin last year. It is amazing where people end up! He is funny but he teaches you a lot. He is very particular but lets you be you.
Wow!This made my day/week/month/year. Only waited 40+ years to finally see this cartoon,as Paramount evidently ignores that it even exists. Hope the Hubley family has posession of the Oscar. The titles/credits alone are amazing! A special nod to Julius Wechter(leader of the Baja Marimba Band),who wrote "Spanish Flea" and does a nice marimba solo on "Tijuana Taxi". Such energy and fun.
I'm glad to see this, I'm amazed that it's been so hard to see, after all it's an Oscar winning film by one of the giants of animation, John Hubley. the tunes are:
LOL!! i didn't knew this ever existed!!!!
