  • damn, i gotta join you guys lmao :)

  • Ha, pig shot theme!

  • I've only seen good video game movies be animated. Final Fantasy: Spirits Within and VII: Advent Children (especially the Advent Children Complete cut), Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, that Sonic the Hedgehog OVA, and; if you're into them, the Pokémon movies (which get off easier by being based more on the anime than the games).

  • this guys should make a video with the nerd... the fucking nerd.

  • I'll always see the Mario Bros Movie as a guilty pleasure.

  • I'm hoping that you talk about Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children! I wanna see what they think of it!

  • The Mario movie looks like a pile of shit, like how auto tuning sounds like a pile of shit.

  • If you guys havent already, I highly suggest to watch the web series "There Will be Brawl". Its like a live action alternate universe of nintendo. Really well done, I'd say.

  • Didn't the Mario Bros. movie come out in, like, '93? That was long before Super Mario 64, and even longer before Luigi's cowardly personality had been established.

  • i mean 8

  • ANYONE TEST OUT NUMBER 7...WHEN YOU CLIKC IT SOUDS LIKE

    I AMA B IAMA B IAMAMAMAMA BBBB

  • I have the super mario bros movie.

    still on VHS ^-^

...was it ever even released on anything else?

  • @nitronzx search for "sexy dvd" and you'll find you answer.

  • @nitronzx There were a couple DVD releases. One in 2003 for the tenth anniversary of the film, and another in 2010 a few months after Dennis Hopper's death.

  • Me too! Mario Bros, TNMT, and HELL YEAH Street Fighter ruled... other then Cammi's blabing out "Neruff kick" or whatever

  • I liked the Mario movie, and the old TNMT movie too....

  • I actually liked the Mario movie :P

  • Thank god I didn't watch the whole movie since I already noticed the two characters "Mario and Luigi" are nothing like the ones from the video game.

    Oh hi Brentidude. ;)

  • That's true, but shut up.

  • i like the Mario movie thank you very much

  • Comment removed

  • You guys remind me of when me and my friends get together :D

  • When I was younger I enjoyed the mario movie but now looking back it was a weird movie. I mean only time they put on there there 'suits' is at the end and they changed toad into a goomba. Dont even get me started on the goombas those were weird as hell

  • am I the only one who liked turtles 3?

  • Yeah, have Pixar create a Super Mario movie. :D

  • 33,878 VIEWER

  • Super Mario Bros the movie raped my childhood. Dennis Hopper as Bowser!? At the very least they could've put in some proper goomba's, not those reptilian footsoldiers. I agree with Brentalfloss on this one, if they ever make another Super Mario movie, it had better be a Pixar-esque release!

  • This video won the second I heard "Nipple exclusivity".

  • king koopa is not a F***ING person whoever mad that crap must die

  • tmnt 3 sucks

  • Why does this only have 32k views? This is interesting! This is honestly great points made about the movies, and shows. I guess people get bored if the video isn't 2 minutes long, and catchy singing in it... But still... I guess maybe this would be more interesting as a Podcast show maybe? I'm still confused on why this lacks views though. These topics are highly relevant to me, and probably millions of 80's babies. I still think this should have a load more views... It's Brentalfloss!!!

  • Holy fuck...

Big bertha....the fish....Big black lady with spikes on her dress....holy fuck..I DID NOT MAKE THIS CORRELATION UNTIL NOW. MY MIND IS FULL OF FUCK

  • @Haruchan2010 ME NEITHER! AND IT KISSED MARIO! MY CHILDHOOD IS RUINED! Just kidding. But seriously I didn't pick up on that either until it was said in this video. XD That's freaking amazing!

  • I have to defend the Mario movie. I enjoyed it and i've grown up with mario my whole life. Though it is very limited in its content related to the games properly it was a good movie and i feel it was more like clever hints that an experienced gamer was supposed to find. The movie seemed to be made more to be interesting to all audiences even though many of its viewers were probably gamers.

  • Pixar! DONE! I agree with that

  • isnt secret of the ooze a pwoer rangers movie?

  • @brentalfloss

1-Making a proper Mario movie should have been the work of disney in a cartoon. Not a real movie.

2-Luigi was kinda brave in the cartoon but he's not looking for trouble either. I see what you mean.

3-The only good video game movie was Mortal Kombat 1 and it was good. Just good.

I was like, why are they talking about that stuff for the first 30 sec, then I just wished I could have talked with you guys since there is so much stuff I could have said there. lol

    Awesome video man!

  • Brentalfloss sounds familiar... is that anything do to with TomPreston on Deviantart?

  • Here's why the Mario Brother's movie was bad. The movie wasn't canon, like, in ALOT of ways, the acting was terrible, and the story had many holes (no pun intended).

  • Assassins creed trilogy movie

  • just thought you might want to know there was a another mario movie, it's a anime. there was never a dub but there have been a few fan made subtitle version

you can start watching it here: /watch?v=mEzRTKSUICo&

  • You drunk fat bastards XD

  • this was posted on my birthday :D

  • I'd say that "guy on right" has a half point when he says that it doesn't really matter if a franchised is bought and they don't really follow the story lines as long as it's a good movie... Yes, but no: the franchised is bought! they won't easily sell it back to another studio who might want to give it a try to respect the original concept. Usually, when those rights are gone, they're gone for good. There are exceptions like Batman and Spiderman; Don't continue, just start over again and again

  • @Eldroth666

Sorry. I disagree with him. If you can make a good movie, then make a good movie, but if you have to betray the franchise in order to do that, then either pick another franchise or start your own. This is how I see it. I'm totally open to good movies being made that don't belong to any franchises at all; just don't sell me a cracker telling me it's a pumpkin.

  • @mytruepower2 I said "...and if the don't really follow the story lines...". "really" is an important word here. They can diverge, but not reinvent. I don't mind if they but salt on the cracker and call it simply "cracker". But just like you, I don't want misrepresentation either.

  • I think you guys should try not to talk over ecah other as much; alot of points get cut of prematurely in the video for somthing else

  • the supermario bros movie is my one guilty pleasure

  • Actually, Mario and Luigi's origins are (mostly) explained in Yoshi's island. The whole thing with the stork, and kamek, etc.

Just FYI. Also, I think the proper word to describe this video is "drunk tank" :D

  • they also switched the colors

  • Heck, a Pixar Mario movie would be epic.

  • I'd listen to these guys in a podcast honestly

  • Lol nerd rage

  • Super mario anime movie was shown at japan. I think you can find it from youtube. Now the Hollywood version of Super mario brothers was awesome when I was 4-6 or 7 years old. Now another funny thing. I have finnish language book about super mario brothers movie licenced by Nintendo. Its pretty hilarious to own it.

  • You also forgot the tekken movie so weak and boring

  • wouldnt it suck if they made a zelda movie (live action) somebody would get shot

  • @desmonfireice1 It would be interesting....to watch...................................................but I they remade Thundercats cartoon and I won't lie, its not bad. I kinda want them to remake the Zelda Cartoon. And make it awesome. lol

  • @desmonfireice1 But not live action, I mean in Anime/cartoon form. <3

  • There still fucking them up........

  • We <3 u, Brentidude. ^^

  • uh.....I really liked TMNT 3, and still do!

  • i loved the 3rd tmnt film

  • Nothing against anyone, but doesn't this remind you of Drunk Tank?

  • "That's true, but shut up"

    Hahaha Floss is awesome

  • As far as Mario goes, if I HAD to make a movie in this day and age, I'd almost completely copy/paste from Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Alter some bits, inject some true-to-character dialogue, and you're golden.

  • This needs to be a permanent series. I don't care if it's on Underbelly or here, but this would be a bitchin' series.

  • if this was a podcast, id listen to it

  • In some I'd the hand held games luigi isn't such a wuss in 3d land I went back to the boss fight with luigi and he seemed brave in it and a good( not as bad as the USA version) was they Mario movie in japan it was animated but it refranced the game the whole time like bowser looked like bowser and everthing was right except luigi was yellow and blue for some resone

  • There were also a LOT more matching the games, goomba's, koopa's, koopalings, bullet bills, mushrooms = fungus, and SO MUCH MORE incluing snifits!

  • Super mario bros was a fantastic movie and the creators KNEW what htey were doing!! it was becuase of deadline cuts that made it a bit suckish.

  • There was a foreshadowing of 911 in the Marry-O movie. I haven't seen the movie in I-don't-know-how-many years, but I saw a picture of the scene with the twin towers (Jachin & Boaz) on fire or something.

  • Ninja Turtles movie followed the original comics pretty well and the street fighter does use aspects of street fighter 2 in it. The ninja turtles cartoon was a big fuck up, but I'm sure you would say otherwise, even though it's a fuck up by your own standards. Just because something deviates from what you're used to, doesn't mean it's a fuck up.

  • Stupid Error occured... but since I can here.

Just wanted to put my .02 cents.. Megaman has a decent fan movie. watch?v=u-pQ4ANDsfs Metal Gear also has a good fan movie. watch?v=aaDSpp8evVk. Actually Ghostbusters has a fan movie watch?v=cSjclrfovEo . For your Zelda fix watch?v=HBCzkz3gHb8. There are more.. Casey Jones movie caseyjonesthemovie(dot)com Sorry I don't have a suggestion.

  • I can't post on part 2???

  • An animated Super Mario Bros movie made by Pixar? That is the best damn suggesstion I ever heard!

  • disney owning marvel AND nintendo?????

  • I kinda liked the turtles movie (Provided of course we're talking about the same one)

Although of course I agree, the cartoon is the backbone of the franchise, not even the game

  • Sure, there definitely are problems with video game movies.

Then again, trying to base a live-action movie on a crazy storyline is very difficult to do.

It seems to me that you either like them or you don't--it's as simple as that

  • when i watched this it had 22,222 views

  • Wasn't Tokar and Razar in Turtles In Time

  • @HieiYYH2 Only AFTER the movie.

  • I sure some one else has said this but in the mario brothers movie, they also had other references in the background like bullet bills on the top of one of the shops.

  • I found SMB the Movie to be entertaining. Not good. Entertaining.

  • @ddr4taffy So, you might call it a "Guilty Pleasure?" *SONG CUE*

  • The movie didn't need to have the world explained. Bowser has kidnapped the princess, Mario needs to rescue her, the end. The "why" of how the world is doesn't need to be explored. Thousands of movies have settings that aren't explained because that's where the story takes place. We never questioned why we were jumping on turtles and diving through pipes in the game. We were put in that world to do that and so we did. So why does the movie need a back story?

  • what about the cartoon movie turtles forever?

  • Also, just saying I really like this style of video. It's a nice casual discussion by a bunch of well informed people that doesn't feel forced or boring. Kind of feels like I'm in the room in a possibly creepy way!

  • I remember renting the Mario Bros. movie from Blockbuster back in the mid 90s as a little kid. I don't even remember being disappointed, I just remember utter confusion wondering if I rented the wrong movie or not. To this day I only saw it that one time. Then I rented the cartoon series later in life and cried. The episode where Bower dresses as Atilla the Hun. Ouch.

  • okay i watched part 1 and 2 and i am disappointed that you guys completely forgot about the resident evil movies. I mean come on the movies themselves were decent, but the games had a great premise which was practically movies ready to be made and the RE films just totally bombed on game relevance. How can a RE movie be made without ANY of the main characters from the games? we are stuck with SUPER ALICE until jill and carlos show up in the sequel. i'd like to know your thoughts brentalfloss

  • Did you know that originally, the directors had planned for the Bros. for not even to wear their symbolic clothes? And the original script was closer to the game? Yeah the directors were idiots.

  • To think I know people who actually think the Mario movie is good...UGH! If you ask me, the only good videogame movies are Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie and Resident Evil: Degeneration.

  • Wow, I find myself practically in the conversation while watching this. Totally good discussions I would love to be a part of.

  • Mario + Pixar = YES

  • @weegee237 I do think that a CG Mario movie would probably work better than anything else.

  • Please go into Transformers at some point. Personally I think the plot lines don't even make sense, the characters either have no development at all or are nothing like the characters they're suppose to be based on. To make matters worse they're designs are changed so much from the source material even their designers don't know who the hell they are. I'm not kidding some of the movie characters are credited with 2 or 3 different names.

  • 8:47 Dude! How did you do that?!?

  • Good. Now we need to get them to discuss politics.

  • I like the Super Mario Bros movie, The Ninja Turtles movie, and Transformers 1 by Michael Bay but not as much as the 1986 version.

I also think they had some things right with Dragonball Evolution ESPECIALLY Bulma, but they depicted GOKU AND CHICHI SO WRONG and that killed it!

  • @DoctorTopper

Liking the Mario movie invalidates your every opinion.

  • I read that Bob Hoskins and Jon Leguizamo hated making Mario bros so much that they were drunk most of the filming.

  • 8:46 like a boss

  • @DrK4ZE

What the fuck is that sorcery?

  • @Donkeygamers i would pay to have some1 teach me that

  • "That's what they did with Super Mario 2, and that worked."

"Okay, that's true, but shut up."

That is the best media critique ever.

  • As an argument, Luigi could've been the brave one. Neither Mario nor Luigi had a fixed personality at the time, they were just player 1 and player 2

  • @Rocky183 I second this.

  • @Rocky183 Totally untrue. There had been three different incarnations of an SMB cartoon, one of which that ran alongside a live action show, tons of issues of SMB Valiant comics, and a Nintendo Power graphic novel about SMB, and in EVERY version, Luigi was more timid and cowardly than Mario.

Don't mess with my Mario knowledge, kid.

  • @brentalfloss Well shit, you're good. Damn :/

  • @brentalfloss brent yet true you missed a fact: Luigi HAS signs of bravery when mario got kidnapped by bowser who saved him? peach? That gay prick toad? NO LUIGI DID! though he is timid he has a brave core. Larger knowlage of games you cant question

  • @brentalfloss

Brentalfloss is right. Even though I have never read the comics but even the live action/cartoon plus the RPGs for the GBA/DS. Luigi was always the one who if anything came up to him, he would cry and pee his pants till Mario slapped him and said come on lets do this.

  • they totally screwed up dragonball Z.

  • If I had to make a Super Mario live action movie? Ron Jeremy as a plumber, porn film, nuff said.

  • @Taattis Someone beat you to it. It's called Super Hornio Bros.

  • @Taattis Too bad that's already been done. And now I can't get that image out of my head.

  • beer that leads to logical conversation?...intresting...

  • So what about the Inspector Gadget movie(s) (if you can call th4e second one Inspector Gadget)?

  • The Mario Bros movie is brain meltingly bad.

  • @spiderjerusalem100 but its so bad its good

  • So Brent is buddies with varying sizes of uber nerdy Persian dudes...how intriguing.

  • how i would make the movie: hire freddie wong to do all of it

  • There are a few good videogames movies

  • "It's a terd, but gosh i love that peanut in it" hahaha

  • @ 6:48 when BrentalFloss said that the first 5 minutes had you saying "is this the right movie" is totally how i felt as a kid in the theater. I was like "THE FUCK IT THIS!" and then my mom hit me.

  • BTW justin is handsome. IMO. yes i like big dudes

  • i liked this movies as a kid but watching again made me realize they're shit. i still like it though

  • Watching this, I felt like over and over adding in points.

  • the guy beside brent is acting it up for the camera pretty good

  • I got 2 words that will clear everything up, "turtles forever", that clears everything up, except for the saban turtles.

  • Why does everyone hate 3 so much? It was better than the very 90's Turtles 2.

  • @cubs2084 how the hell was it better?!

  • @rezor402 No Vanilla Ice. No weird fusion of darkness and cartoon goofiness. 3 never took itself too seriously and they clearly had fun with it, meaning I the viewer had fun watching it. I seriously don't know why 2 doesn't get more hate.

  • super mario brothers should be live actioned in a movie directed by Edgar wright the directeor from scott pilgram, imagine the epicness

  • @systemofmars That's a genius idea. Someone get his email address.

  • @systemofmars holy shit.....i can picture THAT

  • @systemofmars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Mario and Luigi? ALL OF MY MONEY!

  • Sad panda cant see part 2 yet :(

  • GEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKSS!!! Lol, I kid. You guys are fucking awesome.

  • good points from everywhere, but I'm most impressed with they way you've opened your beer bottle.

  • Umm...guys the turtles movie was very close to the source material, namely the comic.

  • @AlbieTom They say that. A lot.

  • Do More!!! :DD

  • what makes you guys do what you do....TURTLE POWER

  • the epic way brentalfloss open a beer bottle ^.^

  • There was an interesting article on the production of the Mario Bros. movie in a recent issue of GameInformer (The issue with the cover story on Borderlands 2). Apparently, the problem wasn't that they wrote a shitty script, the issue was that they kept rewriting the script, they were pressed for time, and the directors couldn't agree on anything.

  • 'It's a turd, but I definitely like that peanut.'

    Dear God..

  • I definately agree with the guy on the right (not sure of names, eeek >.<) about the movies being good, even if they stray off the source material SLIGHTLY-it's still got to be recognizable as what it is, but I like to see new stories played out-if you want the same thing, just go play the game, yo ;) Least that's my 2 cents anyway

  • Mario movie should have been all claymation, ala Nightmare Before Christmas. What we got was a cheap Blade Runner clone. Can't agree on TMNT, they made good use of that PG rating to give us something that was not possible on Saturday Morning TV. Like the good Batman films, they used the first movie to introduce the basic concepts then add stuff like Robins and Technodrome's in sequels.

  • I enjoyed Super Mario, its no way a good movie, I liked it as a "so bad that its good" kind of movie.

  • I loved the super mario brother's movie cause it was part of my child-hood. Was it stupid and inaccurate, well duh but I still love it. The only way to do a mario movie would be to just start off in the mushroo kingdom with no explanation of how mario or lugi got there. Nintendo has made an explanation so why should screen-writers? I'll agree with Brent though, wouldn't mind Pixar getting there hands on that game and a couple others

  • The Super Mario (not "May-rio") Bros. film was garbage, end of story.

  • Why the thumbanil is a LittleKuriboh Photo?.

  • Also... if I was doing a Zelda movie... Edgar Wright. DONE!

  • PIXAR... DONE!

  • there was NO MARIO MOVIE *Angry face*

  • Before seeing this video, I saw "TMNT" of the 90's too... XD

  • Look at all that beer!

  • 1:23 epic face

  • you want a mind blown moment? TMNT universe...set as the same universe as daredevil...look at the origin in the comics about the chemic that they are exposed to the creaters themselves admit it was supposed to be the same as...the one that hit daredevil some panels blend with the daredevil comics...

  • You guys need more beer.

  • In the Super Mario bros movie, the female protagonist Princess Daisy. Not Princess Peach. And Mario's girlfriend in the movie is Lena. And in 'Donkey Kong' Mario is saving Pauline.

  • "When has Luigi ever been the brave one?" Luigi's Mansion is all about Luigi saving Mario after M falls for a "Free mansion giveaway" trick and gets his ass kicked. oh yeah, that's also a GREAT GAME!

  • @Cherryblossoms13100 I think is more like "courage the cowardly dog" kind of thing, Luigi IS a pussy, but when someone he loves is in danger he just goes and grow balls.

  • i have a TMNT #1

  • You and the fat guy were the only ones talking...

  • The first TMNT movie is AWESOME.

  • Is it true that Raoul Julia's disappointment at the Street Fighter is what killed him?

  • I actually have the first issue of raphael teenage mutant teenage turtles micro series

  • Moar shooting shit, and keep drinking while you do it.

  • brent seeing underbelly shirt u should get on normal boots .com

  • Brent knows his shit.

  • In my personal opinion, the Super Mario movie was shit and not in a good way. XD Please don't get me started on the horrific mess it was.

    I LOVE
