  • Now if that pilot was drunk it would have been a smooth landing.

  • fuck airbuz, boeing respekt!

  • Back on-topic, I saw this footage when it first got posted and it still amazes me that this jockey got away without totalling the whole thing; the aircraft was clearly operating beyond designed sidewind limits, so he should have diverted to an alternate under those circumstances.

I'd be interested to find out if an incident report was made at the time, and how the pilot justified his decision to continue the landing with a very heavy into-wind crab approach in gusting conditions.

    JB.

  • I love our fucking pointless and miserable world....it's so full of anger and hatred. Human beings are an absolute worthless organism.

  • People are fucking goofy for sure. Everytime they take a crap they need some kind of hideous musical accompaniment. Lose the music.

  • some tipex and go go go!

  • OHHPSS A DAISY!

  • I am speechless and I will not comments over your immaturity and ignorance... this conversation is totally pointless. Good luck in life with your attitude!

  • I really enjoyed the Chariots of fire and the credits. Well done. It's all a matter of personal opinion and ones state of mind. YT doesn't require we all have a degree in video production, just a passion for sharing information. I am always amazed at how pickie some people are. I imagine they are the ones throwing fits when someone leaves the lid off the toothpaste or forgets to turn off a light. No thanks. Life should be enjoy. Less regrets on a death bed~ peace, vickie

  • This is why planes in a few decades would probably takeoff and land in completely different ways than today's planes ...

  • i saw your comments people have on your channel... only bad words in those about you... And doesnt matter when you wrote it... i didnt see it untill the day i sent comment back... dont like tough ass americans like saying bad things about Europeans... no need to dis europeans and that pilot just because he made a 100% GREAT recovery! You are just jelous he made a great thing and gets good credits for it,and you maybe stuck at your boys room in your mamas house at the age of 35...

  • @dcs, he didn't ask for any advice. If you don't like the vid, leave. Please.

  • Must have taken the cleaners weeks to get the smell of shit out of that plane!

  • Wow very bloody crosswind!

  • that thing is built like a cadillac!

  • People inside must've been fucking terrified

  • @ksthebest no wonder that some french actor pee on the carpet !

  • We hardly let woman leave the kitchen how did this one get behind an airplane?

    JK JK

Anyways that looks like a job for Sheetmetal Fabrication :D I do it for the airforce and I want to do it for civilian and make more money ;)

  • nvm

  • music name plz

  • @AndrePortugal92 chariots of fire - vangelis

  • Waited till the end to the see the wing strike in the F*^&(KING creits blocked it !!!!!

  • What a shit video. Whole lotta still pictures and when the video is shown it is obscured by moving credits. FAIL!

  • The co-pilot, a 24 yr old female was at the controls for the landing according to the accident investigation. The pilot took control of the airplane in time to avoid a crash, performed a missed approach and landed safely.

  • the best pilot :D

  • Proof that Europeans are idiots. They honor this asshole like a hero. He made a major mistake and they put him on a pedistal.

  • @happyninslave Ummmm that was a bitchin crosswind that caused the wingstrike. Had you seen the whole approach - this is only part of it - you'd have seen the skill of the man. No mistake made. You can't get away from Mother Nature. Hats of to the pilot.

  • @happyninslave no he didnt, there was an extreemly strong crosswind and the plane was very near to crashing a lot in that landing and this is proof that americans or wherever u come from are idiots twat!

  • @happyninslave I disagree. Watch the rudder and ailerons. The pilot applied left rudder at the last minute and right roll (both normal procedure). The approach looked stable, and the pilot made the correct control inputs, but rarely gusts are so strong that full control input cannot counteract what they do to the plane. Strong crosswind landings are commonplace and generally safe. I think this was a severe gust at the worst moment with a quick recovery. No major mistake. No need for insults. :o)

  • @happyninslave "SHE"

  • @alienhuman I stand corrected. "She"

  • @happyninslave Are you 35 or 10 years old? Europeans aint anymore idiots than americans.we are all human beeings!!!! Go solve your personal issues with a psychiatrist, instead of insulting this Hero of a pilot that actally saved maybe 150 lives! You can clearly see that this plane is set out of control because of a powerful windgust.. would LOVE to see you do it better.. Haha.. And just wondering.. HOW can YOU say he did a major mistake by watching this video? you were NOT in that cockpit!!

  • @ollo1982 Wow... I made that comment over 2 months ago and you are still mad. Stalking me and making rude comments on my youtube page only makes you looks very stupid. Try getting laid for once. Calm down and get a life!

  • @happyninslave lmao you fucking moron the copilot was at the controls when the gust hit and when the pilot saw she didnt have control, he took over and saved their lives....thats why hes honoured and youre a dumb virgin

  • @BoredLikeHelI Moron Europeans applauding ignorance. Like Hitler all over again. You stupid Eurpeans have no brains, only do what you're told. Bwahaha!!!

  • @happyninslave wow you really couldnt be further from the truth. youre obviously an idiot cause you cant find another insult than the one i used on you (moron) and you assume im european even though a quick click would show you im canadian. and to say that europeans only do as theyre told is EXTREMELY ironic coming from an american

do use a favor and stfu

  • @happyninslave Idiot. I am Mexican and I was in Germany at the time, the Orkan was very strong, it cut many trees disrupting the D-Bahn. The pilot made an excellent decision, he saved the lives of his passengers and the airframe, same case as Chesley Sullenberg, who saved many lives after his stupid co-pilot flew directly to the birds!

  • @KapitaenThor wrong wrong wrong....the pilot was a she..not a he...

  • @happyninslave I haven't read the comment that caused you to reply in such a way. For your information, Europe is made of many countries, all different and with very different backgrounds. From your attitude I can confidently say that you are from the USA and I invite you to visit the many countries that form Europe, so that you can have a better idea before insulting millions of people.

  • @LifeReportage I visited those countries in the 1940's, they are the same back then as they are now. How dare you people allow it to happen all over again. This time America wont save you, because America is one of you.

  • @happyninslave

    1) You've stated on your profile that you're 35, correct? Assuming this is true, how did you visit europe in the 1940's?

    2) How can you be so narrow minded to say that all europeans are dumb? That airliner you see in the video is made in europe, i've never heard of a dumb person making a plane.

    3) Have you considered the modern origins of your own country? Asia, Europe, Oceania South America? Aren't diversity and freedom what makes the USA an amazing place?

  • @josephlightphoto If you want to follow your logic, you've insulted billions of people. Just because they don't exsist on your narrow minded point of view dosn't mean they don't matter.

  • @happyninslave Haha can't beat a good old YouTube argument.

But seriously - What? Who doesn't exist? Where is my insult to billions of people?

You Sir baffle me but anyway good luck in your future YouTube insults

  • @josephlightphoto I baffle you, because you lack logic.

  • slide-show and cheezy old music

    video sharing site fail

  • un boludo total xD

  • whats the music name

  • is crazy plane

  • Please remind me NEVER to fly Lufthansa, if I'm ever in Europe ever again. When will these dumbass pilots ever LEARN that it is NEVER risk-free, & in fact it is FRAUGHT with inherent danger, to attempt cross-wind landings .. anytime, anywhere. The evidence is insurmountable ....

  • @colindominy you done?

  • @colindominy So you really think US pilots never do "crab" landings ? HAH !

  • @colindominy Amen! I was thinking to myself what in God's name was the pilot, co-pilot and/or flight engineer thinking?! I was in a plane that did a cross-wind landing on a short runway and it is NOT a pleasant feeling. The pilot did apologize to the passengers and was visibly upset but that would not have made my family feel better if I died in a post-impact fire :-( Is there any kind of accident report on this?

  • Upon further investigation the pilot had this to say, "Woops."

  • aviation lovers, if you're interested I just uploaded a summary of a flight with air arabia, cockpit view. Very nice if you ask me, check out it out if you're interested.

  • The pilot was a woman! its the same with most jurneys women make lol everything is fine untill they hit some thing when they are trying to park!

  • That song made me feel like i had long blonde hair and running in a field (slow motion)

  • What's name of the song? :)

  • @tomas1a Vangelis - Chariots of Fire

  • I agree, song choice is awful, you hardly want to glamorise this surely?

  • Terrible use of this song.

  • Interesting but shocking at the same time...

  • Good footage... awful editing. Sorry... thumbs down for this one. Chariots of Fire, seriously?

  • Two things that are NOT MANDATORY in You Tube videos: music and credits. In what way does "Chariots of Fire" enhance this video? And the credits aren't needed. The information is obvious or written in the info area. Both the music and the credits are distracting and degrade the quality of your video. Try narrating, or using subtitles. Maybe 5-7 second musical transitions are all you need? Make up your own music? Hint: keep the music subtle - the focus should be on the plane, not Vangelis.

  • @dcs002 boo boo

  • @eeniemand1 Come on man, this is legit! Adding music to your video will annoy 2/3 of your audience, no matter how good you think it is. I'm just commenting in the interest of helping people make more interesting and effective videos.

  • @dcs002 ok, u got a good point, and u are one of the few people that react normal at a negative comment so nice! XD

  • @eeniemand1 Cheers!

  • @dcs002 You do know you can mute the sound, right?

  • @dcs002 Wow .You have 0 videos posted and yet you like to give advise on Vangelis ?Vangelis fits quite nicely to this video ALSO !

  • @tkatsaou I am also a composer and sound designer working in theater and film, and I have a pretty good understanding of how music can affect a visual presentation. Chariots of Fire is far too big, distracting, and cliche for this use. Nope, I don't post my work to You Tube. It's all copyrighted, owned by the producers ALSO!

  • @dcs002 well....dont quit your day job mate.

  • @dcs002 the music, however, was amazing while reading your comment :-)

  • That just makes you want to break out your AEP and review it LOL would like to invite all airport personnel to "My Airport Operations" a free website for all airport personnel.

  • What nerves the pilot must have to keep his shit together while

    trying to put her down.

  • Nobody here ever read the report. You are all quite misled.

"While the investigation agency BFU states that a combination of circumstances led to the wing-strike during an abortive landing attempt in strong crosswinds, it determined that the aircraft switched from 'flight' mode to 'ground' mode at a critical moment, even though it was still technically airborne."

Please see the article in "Flightglobal" from 05/03/2010

  • @lookvidz Ya think?? Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I'm sure otherwise everyone here would have believed I am pilot just because I said an airplane has wings. So sad some people are deficient in being able to identify sarcasm. I am also a mechanic because I can tell you a car has 4 wheels.

  • I am a pilot and I can tell you....this is an airplane. I recognize it by the wings.

  • Not readily admitted is that during the first approach, the First Officer - A WOMAN was the one who nearly tanked the plane. Second attempt the Pilot - a man, landed the plane.

  • @Knepperify1 Does it really matter whether the pilots were women or men?! What's correct is that a *better* pilot took over the controls. The gender of the pilots may make for a funny joke, but it's entirely irrelevant and frankly sexist.

  • @Spudst3r

    -

I don't care if you think that a fact or the truth is sexist.

    -

The fact is that Female Pilots have a statistically measurable difference in performance - to the negative.

But because this reality is not Politically Correct, or considered sexist by rigid anti-intellectuals such as yourself, no one allows themselves to think it, say it, or act upon it.

    -

When you make the truth unspeakable due to political concerns, you are on the side of tyranny and lies.

  • @Knepperify1 Please show me evidence that there is a "statistically measurable difference in performance" to the negative with female airline pilots.

It's a serious allegation and I would be interested in seeing the hard numbers before I could continue this dicussion further. If the evidence is there, then I would be interested in seeing if any other correlations exist in order to further understand any reasons for why. (e.g. women pilots are newer thus have less overall experience, age, etc.)

  • @Spudst3r

    -

Male pilots flying general aviation (private) aircraft in the United States are more likely to crash due to inattention or flawed decision making.while ***female pilots are more likely to crash from mishandling the aircraft***

These are the results of a study by researchers at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.

    ========

I would rather fly with someone who can fly but may err in judgement, than someone who cannot fly and can also err in judgement.

  • @Spudst3r not that hard to test my friend, lets start with cars.

  • @Knepperify1 u are the shit

  • Ya know, sometime the guy or gal sitting next to you just up and does something totally novel. And sometime it's a bitch sorting things out afterward. A good driver could have pulled a landing out of the hat in those conditions but it would never have been pretty or terribly pleasant in the back. I bet you she's still wearing some sort of nickname for this performance. Her first name + Regenpfeifer would have been my choice.

  • they use the same material that seatbelts are made of to repair the jets turbines....

  • lose the music pls

  • Dont think the music is appropriate for this video lol

  • Uuh. Thats expensive :)

  • could have got all that out in 12 seconds

  • Huge Balls!

  • OMFG! QWOP!

  • Co-pilot landed the aircraft in extreme crosswind at the limit for the type. Strong gust just before landing. The co-pilot does good job, but as the main wheels hit the tarmac the computer switches from flight mode to ground mode. This overrides rudder authority and crosswind takes over. Pilot takes over. Subsequent safe landing on another runway. Pilot and co-pilot both commended for skill, Airbus recommended to modify computer program to defer ground mode. Truth is out there.

  • @mr2kat NO WAY.... Those pilots should be fired. I'm a pilot myself... Lucky I wasn't on that plane.. I would have punched them both in the mouth for not going to another airport.... Those crosswinds were not last minute.. NO such thing....

  • I'm a pilot too and there ARE such things as "last minute crosswinds". Although, about this particular case, I don't know if it applies.

  • @ricramey2000 You must be one of these flight sim pilot thinking he knows a lot!

  • Black Guy - If it ain't Boein' I ain't Goin'

Osama Bin Laden - If it's a Boeing... IM BOMBING IT!

  • costly mistake, a go-around is not that costly

  • well thats not bad

  • Having text rolling across the screen 0:50 makes it difficult to see the wing hit the runway

  • I like bacon!

  • Bad choise of music...

  • Plane got that crazy that close to the tarmac and he still saved it.. Skills!!!

  • Lose the gay fucking music

  • where the passengers ok?

  • What name of the song? ..

  • COPYRIGHT VIOLATIONS.....CHARIOTS OF FIRE? Come on dick.

  • @UFOSPACE1999 Copyright of what? A boring repetitive piece of music? Yawn.....

  • maybe that's how they came up with the new a320 with winglets

  • Awes the mind, should have keep filming

  • For Sure, all passengers must change the underwear.

  • Death to America!!!!

  • @riverlifeva ur a piece of shit

  • @riverlifeva u piece of shit, it doesn't have ANYTHING to do with America. European plane, airline and airport. FU!! and no, im not from America.

  • @Deltapilot96 good for you dumb ass , did you think to look where I'm from;)

  • @riverlifeva No, since you wrote Death to America, I just took a guess that you were not from America :S So, what's the thoughts behind writing that then?

  • @Deltapilot96 getting idiots to respond without doing any reasearch;)

  • i never knew lufthansan airlines wuz real...and did this music remind ppl of the movie Top Gun??

  • I can say I flew an airbus a320 last fall to Orange county on Frontier Airlines, and I flew on an MD 80 just a few weeks ago with American Airlines, I can clearly say the old MD80, that by the way was 16 years old and in impeccable condition, was far more comfortable than the Airbus. If this is the best, Airbus needs to keep trying .....

  • @scottwalper Leg-room is decided by the airliner, so are the seats, if the noise is to much, take a seat at the front.

  • Why have you Blurred out the other wheel? you can see the outline

  • @kieran2720 We've always built the best planes and your continent has been responsible for two world wars. Facts speak for themselves. Have a nice day, sunshine.

  • @SenorSpode At least our wars had a point to them.

  • @claudp What 'point' is that: killing 6.5 million Jews and 20 million Russians? Yeah, some point. You walked right into that one, idiot.

  • @SenorSpode I was talking about the allies, and you proved my point. We went to war with the Germans and the Nazis, that was the point. You assumed I was talking about the Germans starting two wars.. No, I disagree with that, they shouldn't have.

Besides the point. unbelievable how a video about a landing aircraft has gone so off-topic.

    lol.

  • man i flown in an airbus 320A and Boeing 767 and 747 and by far boeing's planes are much more quiet and comfortable in my opinion

  • @oldsal30 You're making the wrong comparison: both the 767 and 747 are widebodies. Large aircraft. The A320 is a much smaller narrowbody. Widebodies are always quieter than narrowbodies on the inside. If you want to compare, compare the A320 to the 737, the A330 to the 767 and the A340 or A380 to the 747. You'll then notice that in each case, the Airbus is actually the quietest one.

  • Did you seriously put friggin' Chariots of Fire?

  • i thought the natzes never make mistakes.. you fuck around in a heavy cross wind and it will bite you ... i dont care whos flying..., also his speed was way to hot..very foolish.. those guys knew better... i bet alot of paper work one done on that one.. suspension also...the capo calls the shots so he should take most of the blame..oh yeah lots of landing school too......

  • Music is horrible..

  • If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going.

  • why the hell was that pilot trying to land there? idiot

  • The co-pilot who was at control of the plane was a woman. Research if you want, this is a fact.

  • If i was the passanger i'd shit my pants...

  • the only thing that explains this is that it's an airbus dealing with crosswinds and not a boeing, and jets are not supposed to have joystics. And no, I am not american

  • @Libanass You mean crosswinds may have contributed to this and not the fact that it was a woman at the controls like someone else suggested?? Who would have thunk it!!!!!!

  • @diapermanful here a little story..

The US knows how to make planes, germany is the best at making cars and everything else, and french can do smelly camembert :D

If it's a women or not, I can't tell, but at least I can tell that it's an airbus :))

  • If the plane had crashed, how many would have survived? Perhaps all, but some may have had an out of body experience, like mine...youtube.com/watch?v=HF15T30xCPc

I never believed in these, until it happened to me.

  • duct tape. works every time.

  • your an idiot. you start the video by pictures and then you end it by not showing the whole clip of the plane trying to land(only part of it) and also, you throw close captioning when we do get to see the acually clip. u suck

  • @fcdrre1 you can watch it by clicking on the video part. BTW, he should have started with the video part, then the pictures.

  • Less than a foot away from touching that left wheel down BEFORE giving it a boot full of left rudder...still saved it...id take her as my pilot.

  • Exellent reaction of the crew!

How 471 people "Like" that is a mystery to me.

Also the comment "Another reason to fly Boing!

  • this music made me laugh haha, but i heard the pilot was a women (that explains it)

  • The burning question in my mind is why the pilot carried through with a bad approach for so long. Not that the adverse crosswind wasn't in play, trying to hit the runway after that far off center probably is a mistake that pilot won't soon repeat.

  • I had no idea that an airbus a320 had winglets like that!

  • @SAMCAMJAIK1 i dont think anyone got it ;) but i did man

  • Well, it doesn't any more...

  • @SAMCAMJAIK1 You didn't? The only Airbus I've seen that didn't have that exact style of winglet was a certain model A340, which had poor excuses for 747-400-like winglets. Sorry excuses, like the rest of the planes.

  • @SenorSpode I'm sick of the ignorant comments of US fanatics like you. FYI, winglets were invented in Europe, as were many other aeronautical innovations, like jet engines, flaps and slats. The whole idea behind Airbus was to combine all aeronautical genius in Europe and push for innovation and refinement. I think Boeing finds Airbus a force to be reckoned with, or else why does the 777 have FBW like the A320, and the advanced airfoil (part of it supercritical) like every airbus since the A300?

  • @SAMCAMJAIK1 Those are airbus-320 winglets...

  • an airbus is slow in his reaction to go left or right and up/down...very slow......BOEING ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThePlaya12345678 I Love Boeing too!

  • @SAMCAMJAIK1 Its a wing fence, does the same job as a winglet just smaller and lighter

  • why this song?!?!?

  • If it AINT Boeing I AINT going

  • @HSDDTS A 737 would do the exact same thing!

  • @HSDDTS - you're staying at home then?

  • PROBABLY CAUSED BY STRONG CROSS WINDS AND WIND SHEAR.THIS CAN HAPPEN T O THE BEST AND MOST EXPERIENCED PILOTS. WE CAN,T CONTROL THE SUDDEN CHANGE IN WIND DIRECTION.

  • so it did touch ground ! man that pilot was a damn idiot risking lives

  • @BayouBluesMan what else is he sposed to do??? NOT LAND

  • wats that song called

  • Why didnt the plane look that damaged when it pulled back up for another spin?

  • I am an Aerospace engineering student. Airbus doesn't suck. Airbus has some brilliant engineers from TU Graz and TU Delft who know their shit. In fact, the airbus wing's stability derivative is a few points higher than boeing's on average over their aircraft fleet.

  • @rustlerboi1052 FINALY! an expert actualy pitches in! So a 737 would be even more tipsy on final?

I like the A320's design and allot of my friends are against airbus because its foreign. so stupid

  • @Helicopterpilot16

Well no, a 737 wouldn't be more unstable. I'm just talking with respect to the main wings and their quarter chords. There simply is no way of gauging whose aircraft is more stable under any condition. They are commercial airliners after all and designed for stability and comfort. EADS is a fantastic parent company and they come through with great engineering practice. Airbus and Boeing actually help each other occasionally, too.

  • @rustlerboi1052 yeah I understand what you'r saying, I'd have to say I do like airbus but I don't like how the controls are not phisicaly connected to the pilot.

  • passengers: Oh My God!

pilots: so then did you watch Family guy last night??

pilot 2: hell yer brotha' now land this peice of metal.

crew: Ladie's and gentlemen we are just about to make a normal landing. thanks for choosing us today. Oh my god.....

  • I wouldve totally shit my pants if I were on that flight
