  • tremendous voice - good on yer normie - aus 1st king of pop

  • Wow. A VERY good redition of this song. He's right up there.

  • How about a rump steak? A special snag or burggggerrrr?

  • I had never heard of this guy until about 5 minutes ago. I was doing research on another artist and found a copy of Normie from the 60's. then I clicked on this...Wow! EXCELLENT and then some. Love his take on this song!

  • northcote normie, i knew u had it in you..beautiful, just beautiful

  • It was a pleasure to see and hear this, many people have done this amazing song, Normie Rowe, should feel proud as we are all proud of you and what you have done for this great Country Australia, Thank you.

  • I agree - the best of all Valjeans - so fortunate to see him in this role.

  • Normie sang this the best of all the Valjeans I witnessed. I saw Les Miserables live in a few countries and nothing compared to the Sydney cast. I have seen a lot of musicals and can tell you this was the best I have seen overall. He really became the part. You feel his pain. I get goosebumps and flashbacks to 'stalls' all those years ago.

  • stunning.

  • wow !!!! heartbreaking !!!

  • Normie deserves an accolade. Well done he sang beautifully and his enterpretation was bang on

  • My father the late and great vocal coach Don Grayden taught Normie to sing the role. It took them three months of solid work together to prepare for it. Champagne all round when Normie got the role. All credit to Normie for determination and then for doing such a wonderful job with the role. He made it his own.

  • A man who saw Normie sing this in Les Miserable said to his agent " that man sang that song like he was in a war or lost a son" and Normie's agent said "He has done both"..... what a compliment that man paid Normie, and what a talent

  • Saw it in Sydney more times than I can count as a young whipper snapper. Normie was sensational!

I remember hearing at the time that the Australian Cast recording was actually made, but I'm guessing if that was the case it would have surfaced by now. :(

  • Normie is one of Australia's Greatest singers..He can sing anything and also a fabulous down to earth Person.

  • @gracebawden Thanks to you & Normie for the info. I'm so glad people are enjoying this. It's a beautiful performance by a beautiful man, I adore Normie...he is Aussie rock royalty.

  • @70s80sVidz about the origins, Normie wrote on my FB wall "It was Queensland Day at Expo 88. Also on the bill was John Denver and a huge number of Aussie stars. Simon Gallaher among them. Thanks for that Grace"

  • Mum was at the first ever Australian show and she reckons she blubbered all the way through Normie's performance. Hahaha. :)))

  • @gracebawden

I was right there with her.

  • He's amazing. Thanks for posting

  • Who would have thought a rocker like Normie could have sung like this. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.

  • He's AMAZING - and Mackintosh should be SHOT for snubbing him and not allowing the Aussie recording or him to appear in the 25th anniversary concert because he showed up at the recording session in shorts. MY GOD!

  • @CVActor1 Mum would agree... shes always said Normie was the best Jean Val Jean ever and she was disappointed she could never get a recording of Normie in the role, though she has the RAH concert on DVD and CD.
