People, be honest with yourselves. You have your opinion. SNES, Genesis, get over argueing between the two. They're both great. I've played both versions. I don't have a favorite. Let's agree on whether maximum carnage ITSELF is good or not. thumbs UP if you agree i's good. Comic, game, it deosn't matter. Either one works for me.
... who... gives... a FUCK!?!?! Seriously, can we just enjoy the music? And why the hell is anyone that feels that the SNES version sounds better even listening to this?!?!?
Are people really saying the Genesis version looked/sound better than SNES one? Come on, that's just pure fanboyism. Be honest with yourself and admit that the SNES version is just superior in looks and sound. I hold no hate for the Genesis version, but I hate it when fanboys try to proclaim their version is the best. No different from 360 and PS3 fanboys with multiplat games.
@Bebo1026 not necessairly a genesis fanboy but i like the sound of this one better, but its probably for nestalgia reasons as i had this game on genesis lol
Although I won't say the Genesis version looked "better", even though there's hardly any real graphical differences, but some of the Genesis music *does* sound better, at least to me.
@Bebo1026 There is difference. PS3 and 360 are the roughly the same. SNES and Genesis are different. And yeah, I can't say if SNES version looks worse, but it certainly sounds worse - Genesis sounds more rock-like.
@ResurrectedTemplar so you are trying to imply that rock doesn't use electric guitars and drums, but some weird synthesizer and some sort of tapping for drums?
@angrytrifrocenerd1 No, I'm trying to imply that this sounds closer to real rock than SNES version that sounds like... I don't know what it sounds like.
Or for a god comparison, go listen to "the mob rules" by black sabbath. Then listen to the SNES version of the Super Villains theme from this game, then listen to the Genesis version of the same song in this video. Then tell me which one sounds closer.
Heh.I just beat the game on my laptop, cause i was feeling nostalgic :)
In my opinion the music on the gens is much better than the one on the snes.I listened to a couple of tunes from the snes one and it sounds like chainsaws grinding together. I know the snes had a superior sound chip, but I grew up with a SEGA and the way it sounded never really troubled me and now I have a hard time listening to music from a game that was on the genesis and a different port (such as this)
tho i never played this game it gives me nastaligic memorys of the Spider man (2000) for the PS1. Man i loved that game. I didn't understand any of the villans until now and was all "Who the hell is Ben Reilly?" But know i know.....and know is half the battle. *Lol at lame joke*
@chompteeth agreed, nes is great when wanting to hear what it would sound like in person, like the actual instruments,, but sega rules in terms of the classic feel department
I like how the Genesis version has more of a video game feel to it, but the SNES hands down has the superior soundtrack, IMO. Sounds nearly like real music from a CD. Its sound chip was definitely put to the test with this game
I actually like this version better, but it was the version I had. I don't think it matters which one sounds more high quality in processing, What matters is the one that sounds nostalgic to you which in your case is the SNES version. Much like people who like the music of Super Mario Bros. 3 NES version than the ones remixed on SNES (Super Mario all stars).

this is probably the only video on YouTube to feature the Genesis version of this music (besides game play videos)

@bleachwad that's the unfortunate truth..and this doesn't even have the full version of my fav song =/
kham2914 10 months ago
Gotta go with the snes version, although the one song I feel sounds really cool with the Genesis instruments is the "story interlude" song at 9:03

If the Genesis version had the music from the SNES version, Maximum Carnage would be PERFECT

it's like this:
u want epic classic style gaming music awesomeness? listen to the sega genesis version.
you want an equally awesome sounding soundtrack but sounds more realistic like from an actual album? listen to the Super NES version then.
it all depends on what you prefer.
both are awesome.
kham2914 1 year ago
yea i like this one more than the Snes sound...I don't know why. It's like with NES Battletoads and how it sounded stupid on SNES.
SteroidPeas 1 year ago
Some one should remake these tunes, you can get some kick ass qutiar solos off of this soundtrack. This was the ONLY Spidrrman game I ever liked lol

Doesn't sound like rock at all.

@ResurrectedTemplar Genesis drums: some tapping
SNES drums: drums and cymbals
Or for a god comparison, go listen to "the mob rules" by black sabbath. Then listen to the SNES version of the Super Villains theme from this game, then listen to the Genesis version of the same song in this video. Then tell me which one sounds closer.

@Bebo1026 Maybe I can prefer the genesis version because that's the platform I grew up playing.

@Bebo1026 "Better" is subjective. SNES had better graphics, but I prefer the music on the Genesis.
It would be "fanboyism" to assume any music could be superior to another. Preferences, yo.
