Mumbai aka Bombay should be declared a new state should have it's own government.

what is even more frustrating is that Mumbai has no city plans! The current sewage system which is being build will only last another 6-7 years and then we ll have the same issue again. The biggest problem is there no authority directly responsible for the city. BMC says this falls under state government and they are least bothered about mangroves as long their pockets are filled. What we need is a directly elected mayor who is responsible for this.

i agree. they need to do a sort of underground runoff sewage system so when heavy rain fall comes or a tidal wave breaks through, it just goes threw STORM DRAINS, an channeling it out to sea. over here in north america heavy rain fall an tidal waves arent very common and we have these...so why dont they?

they do have a SEWERAGE SYSTEM. The problem is plastic bags. The plastic bags that are use baging goods when shopping. When these get away and become loose garbage, they clog the sewage system. They do not diodegrade wither. The documentary missed that. That's the real reason. Otherwise, Bombay has heavy rains every year and strets drain well every year.

There is a very effective sewage system in place.However u have to understand that the population of this place is 10000 times more than what it can handle. This is low lying land surrounded by Sea and there is no place to grow. If sea level rises beyond a certain point, no sewage system can work! That is what the mangroves do. They act as a buffer zone and are systematically being destroyed to sustain this so called "Growth".
