As I understand it, Saudi Aramco uses vast amounts of seawater - both desalinated and unfiltered and pumps it underground into wells - particularly around the Al Ghawār geological structure / super oil dome. Unfortunately seeing these more and more frequently is the lot of all oil wells near the end of life. The oil/water mix has lowered, but nothing prevents SA from pumping ever more water into the substructures, which causes this - when the high-pressure water finds a release you see geysers..
