In my opinion, Chino was pretty high. Then he kicks Stephen's guitar as a part of his druggy performance. Stephen, of course, didn't like that.

@captainshizerstance I was thinking of NOT going to the Deftones concert because Alice in Chains and Mastadon are gonna be there. Metal's kind of played out in my opinion. It's kind of trashy unoriginal music. I like hard music too, so it's not that it's hard. It's just really fucking simple and predictive shit. The song structures are all similar 9 times outta 10. I don't like 98% of Metallica. I'd listen to Mastadon before them. I just think the bands you mentioned are boring kind of.

@captainshizerstance I was thinking of NOT going to the Deftones concert because Alice in Chains and Mastadon are gonna be there. Metal's kind of played out in my opinion. It's kind of trashy unoriginal music. I like hard music too, so it's not that it's hard. It's just really fucking simple and predictive shit. The song structures are all similar 9 times outta 10. I don't like 98% of Metallica. I'd listen to Mastadon before them. I just think the bands you mentioned are boring kind of.

@depletable pissing match standoff i guess as far as band choice goes. but to say metal is played out doesnt make sense. without metal and specifically bands like metallica, you wouldnt have deftones or mastodon. on that you have to agree. almost every band of any coretype in metal would admit metallica as an influence. and i only like about 50% of metallica stuff. but that 50% IMO is sick. anything after and including the black album is boring and redundant.

@captainshizerstance I personally don't think Metal has much to do with Deftones, and such music like that. Actually they've attributed more Punk / old "true-Hardcore" bands, and shit like Depeche Mode / Duran Duran. I'm sure shit like Slayer was appreciated, as I appreciate Slayer. That certain type of in-your-ass metal. I agree with you about Metallica. After Black it was really lame, and wasn't so in-your-ass anymore. I like more Hardcore / Post-Hardcore bands nowadays, and other progressive.

@depletable also, im in my mid 30's so i grew up on "hardcore" and "punk" as well as other stuff classic rock and wutever. not sure what post-harcore is - so many definitions these days. punk is dead and burried IMO, and harcore well aside from Botch as I mentioned, other hardcore bands bore me now and ive listened to alot and seen bands that have long died and never been signed etc.. kinda of all just jock rock to me. prog metal is keeping me interested in heavy music.

@depletable keeping the conversation in the metal theme. currently on my ipod: Botch (album-we are the romans), His Hero is Gone (album(s)- 15 counts of arson and monuments to thieves), Mastodon (album(s)- every single fucking one), Metallica, (album-ride the lightning), Witchery (album - the Reaper) i listen to various types of music not just metal. but when it comes to metal i want straight up kick you in the head metal not metal/radiohead or wutever.
