In point karate, you pull back your strikes before they make contact, so participants don't know what it actually feels like to take a shot. Chuck might have a glass jaw, but would never have to deal with it, in point karate. You can't call yourself a real fighter, unless you've had someone try to take your head off. I've had karate guys come into my boxing gym, and get hit for the first time ever.

@cypresscoach Considering Norris was a sparring partner of Sijo Lee Jun Fan he would often spar full contact as Lee was an early advocate of full contact kickboxing. In training with Lee his students would often spar with him using full gear and high power. Considering under Lee's teaching Norris was able to become a Karate champion it's pretty easy to say he needed to spar full contact often. Just a quick history lesson on the man.

One of the 1st things I learnt when doing tae know do was never to kick using your toes because you could easily get them broken. Never to use a solid fist because that could get your wrist broken. one wonders how much of this is real.
