  • thumbs upif you find this Galadriel hotter than Cate Blanchett

  • Sure this isn't on par with the jackson films; its a different work all on its own, yet it has so much charm

  • Im going with fro do

    I know sam

    XD LOL

  • Heh, Legolas is voiced by C-3P0

  • I love how everyone is just out and about with someone else doing there own thing.... and then theres poor retarded sam picking flowers by himself. XD

  • lol Galadriel's look at 1:11 says "We're all screwed"

  • three people are star wars nerds

  • frodo needs to give up some of those mushrooms. all i see in his eyes are pupils lol

  • frodo meed to hook us up with some o those mushrooms. look at those pupils

  • Aruman?

  • boromir: fucking humans so corrupt!

  • very very nice scene with galadriel being offered and then denying the ring, much better than the heavy handed scene in the movie

  • @Afroxec Yeah they didn't rely on special effects like Peter Jackson did to make the scene powerful.

  • Bakashi, they're Elves, not the effing Lollipop Guild. ><

  • "mineass tirith"-Boromir

  • Lol Gimli and Legolas are actually getting along?!?! (I can't believe Gimli would ever touch a bow...)

  • Why are Gimli and Legolas the only ones manly enough to wear pants?

  • legolas:then you know nothing in gondor!!!!

borimir:yo mamma knows nothing in gondor!! awwwww snap!!!!!

  • I like Boromir in this one, but the Jackson version really took an extra step. At first, it seemed like he wanted the ring out of arrogance. As the story progressed, we see that it was really desperation that caused him to lust for the ring. Both films explore this, but there are a few more scenes in the Jackson version (particularly the extended) that reinforce this.

  • Galadriel looks like a pornstar

  • lol I love the top comments as a debate war

  • why do the men have such great legs?

  • That mirror is trippy...

  • I'm sorry, but knowing Sam's love, knowledge of plants, I don't think we would just go around willy nilly pulling up flowers, & casting them aside for the heck of it.

  • 1:10 Sam has a psychotic episode

  • I love how all the men wear the same tunic and boots and even ancient statue men wear the same tunic and boots without pants

  • is it just me or is the mens clsose make u think 'any shorter and every one will see a bit of you they do not want to see LOL! ^__^ laughing can not take have this movie for real i can with the real people one but this its worlds and easy anger does not to just for me. its good but could have been better. oh well the tryed i only take Legous any point to belive it was try to be what they are lol

  • where's arwen?

  • Yeah, the part with Galadriel is just a little bit different in the live action movie.

  • the pronunciation in this adaptation is terrible. theyve got sauron, saruman, celeborn and minas tirith wrong so far

  • 2:11 i pissed my pants xDxD

  • actually the actor who voiced frodo sounds alot like elijah wood

  • Comment removed

  • What a dumbass bakshi elvish C's are always pronounced as K not S -_- Keleborn not Seleborn

  • @SenoirEpicTacos I'm so glad someone else noticed...

  • Well harp de darp the elves are REALLY good at singing, JUST like in the books. Their dirge is like a nursery rhyme by little azn babies.

  • At 2:14, Sam is stepping on the background!

  • I love both the Jackson and Bakshi versions. Both have their unique charms. I do like the Bakshi one when it comes to character interaction, though. I kinda like the sibling love Frodo and Aragorn share in this one more than the Jackson film.

  • EEWW!! FLAPPING FEET, FRODO??? Nice way to describe Gollum

  • 2:03 d'aww cute wittle Merry and Pippin! <3

  • Hobbits are pretty much the laziest humanoids ever.

  • 1:09

Haha Sam acts like such a creep

  • @sharksarefriends and almost destroys the universe

  • Who the hell is Aruman?

  • Is it me, or does this verison of Galadriel look like an older Aurora from Sleeping Beauty?

In the Disney movie she is 16, here she looks like she is at least 30-ish

Still, Galadriel is hot here :P

  • 0:17 - Okay, not to beat a dead horse but can this scene have, like, 100 percent more pants, please?

  • Why does Aragorn look like Tonto?

  • 6:05 - Aragorn: "If Gandalf were here.... I forgot the rest of my line."

  • You know, when I imagined elves singing, I never imagined a children's choir singing in English....

  • hmmm where is haldir i dont see him and one of the rings bearer was tranduil

  • @bezsrdce Characters in Jackson's movies like Arwen and Haldir were not featured in the original books. I've read LOTR in high school and college and don't remember either character.

  • @fallen808 arwen?? of course she's in the books. liv tyler plays her and yes she's in many scenes that are made up but she's in rivendell in the fellowship of the ring book.

  • @jaronious89 She and Haldir may be in the books, but not anywhere near as notable or as prominent as the Jackson movies made them out to be.

  • @fallen808 yeah which is why i said she's in many scenes that are made up..

  • @jaronious89 So you're just being redundant? Those characters have no more than just a mere mention in the Fellowship book. Hardly makes them anything resembling an actual "character" in the story. They were "added" by Jackson in the movies, just as they are reportedly adding Legolas and Galadriel in the new Hobbit prequel. You're rehashing stuff we already established.

  • @fallen808 chill there big guy. all im saying is that they aren't made up characters and they actually exist witthin the books, jackson didn't literally make them up as a character. just because they aren't prominent or notable in the books doesn't mean the character was made up in the movie....just their interactions are.

  • @jaronious89 See, this is where you're being redundant. We all already knew that. I never said they didn't exist at all. I said they weren't featured in the books as a character. A few sentences about them in the book does not make them a featured character.

  • @fallen808 my bad professor

  • galadriel is hot!

  • Some of the names are pronounced wrong, Celeborn and all the names with C have to be pronounced with a strong sound la the C in the word "coming" so it has to be Keleborn not Celeborn according to the lenguages and all the rules created by tolkien

  • 1:11 Sam's true colors are shown or else the video itself puked at his appearance

  • PRICELINE NEGOTIATOR!

  • why is boromir a viking?

  • Geladriel is like an animated version of Madonna.

  • goodness... sam IS retarded, and im loving every second of it and crying delicious tears of joy

  • @tyrongkojy i think so maybe, The name of Voldemort was supossed to be spoken with a silent "T" to like Voldemor. I think they named Saruman just like its writen in Peter Jacksons movie because it reliens more to Sauron.

  • Clothing shop owner: being the elder son of the steward you have your choice of any clothing in the kingdom...Boromir: Nah i'll just wear my fuzzy barbarian underwear and this helmet i stole from Conan of Cimmera.

  • POOF! automatic transport to Lothlorien.

  • not Seleborn you fools! it's Keleborn! you'd think they would have read the notes on pronunciation before making this! and it's Sau-ron, not Sore-on! geez!

And as for why they'd give Galadriel Nenya, it's not really that surprising...she is the last Noldorin elf that came over from Valinor...she is a daughter of Finarfin...her husband is only a Silvan elf...he never saw the two trees....it's all in the Silmarillion

  • @glindasgal There are different versions where Celeborn actually was in Valinor....a lot of parts of the "Mythology" were written and re-written...over and over....

  • Is it just my computer, or is the video totally messed up at 1:10

  • I think PJ's version is better because it stands up more...

Tolkein's book is, after all, less about the story and more about the cultures, languages and history, all of which are details very focused on in the PJ version. In that way, they are the truer adaptations of the book.

I know it sounds crazy, but in a way I prefer the films PJ made to the books anyway! I found some parts of the book dull - such as the whole episode with Bombadil. Perhaps that's why PJ and Bakshi cut him!

  • I wanted to give this movie a second chance, but I just don't think it's very good. Sure, the animation is good, so if it was an original storyline, then it might be OK. But it's adapted, and there are a lot of inconsistencies. Gandalf handled the ring earlier. It's "Keleborn" not "seleborn". Sam's just stupid. Borormir and Aragorn seem basically unable to fight, and the result is that Frodo somehow becomes the best fighter of the lot

I think PJ's version is better because it stands up more.

  • i'd say Galadriel is definitely Resto >.>

some of y'all know what i'm talkin about <.<

  • 1:26 try to tell me THAT song isn't inspired by Asia =D

  • In my opinion, the elves in this movie aren't very convincing. But you have to love Legolas' voice (Anthony Daniels).

  • @beckestart

yeah no kidding! I mean what was up with the creepy children's choir version of elf singing?

  • good grief!!! celeborn looks like a tv jewl merchant. His skin is orange and his hair is bleached

  • DO NOT TOUCH THE WATER!

  • lorien seems like such a happy place. it's way more fantastical and happy than in the jackson version. i still love this movie, it's amazing. i can even overlook how annoying sam is... URG

  • So they just appear in Lorien in front of Galadriel... way to make a Lotr adaption.

  • 3:50 like, wow man

  • What's up with Gimli and Legolas being friends...??

  • Boromir is thinking makes sense since people sometimes steal technology from their enemies and use it against them.

  • @altarush but you can't use things agaainst the enemy that are evil in nature, things that're alive.

  • Yeah...Boromir in a horned helmet like a comic viking. Good job. Pathetic, Bakshi...

  • When I saw this as a kid, I was disappointed.....but in retrospect, they did the books more justice with this than the live action movies did.....I think the modern movies should have been animated....don't get me wrong....they're good....but I just feel that they were "lacking" in some aspects....some of the things that impressed me the most in the books, were left out of the movies.

  • frodo grabs his belt aaaaall the time >__> i don't remember him doing this in the book, maybe im wrong

  • Anyone else think it's weird that Galadriel has a ring? It was 3 rings for elven kings; 1 for Elrond of Rivendell, 1 for Celeborn of Lothlorien, & 1 for the elvish king of Mirkwood. Did Celeborn give his ring to her or what?

  • @ToneeRhianRose I'm afraid you're mistaken on the last two of which elf was given one of the three elven rings. Yes, Elrond was given the ring air, but it was Galadriel who was given the ring of water, and Cirdan the Shipwright who was given the ring of fire, which was given to Gandalf when he arrived from Aman to be one of the Istari/Wizards.

  • @Jakegothicsnake Galadriel had the ring of Adamant....that is why Lorien did not "fade"....time does not work normally in Lorien because of the ring of Adamant...

  • @Jakegothicsnake your actually both wrong. The ring of water was originally Gil Galads, and was the most powerful, but was given to elrond when Gil Galad died. The ring of air belongs to Galadriel, and the ring of fire originally belonged to Cirdan, lord of the grey haven, but was given to Gandalf when he arrived

  • @Mattapo2 You're mistaken on Galadriel's ring. Her ring is the ring of water. Look up Tolkien gate way dot net and search for "Three Rings".

  • @Jakegothicsnake

...and she gets REALLY pissed if you touch the water!!! O.o didya hear her? like a scary old widow security guard at the Louvre o.o

  • Nenya (water) = Galadriel's ring

Narya (fire) = originally Cirdan the Shipwright's, but given to Gandalf

Vilya (air) = Gil-Galad's, but given to Elrond after Gil-Galad was slain

  • @Mattapo2 sorry. you can see where i made my mistake though , cant you? i mean the ring of air has a blue stone set in it, and the ring of water a white stone. I mean, doesnt blue normally mean water?

  • @Mattapo2 welll is AIR blue....? water isn't blue either.... =/

  • @ToneeRhianRose

i just think it's funny at 7:35 when Boromir calls Elrond, Gandalf, and Galadriel a bunch of little punkass bitches XD

  • @ToneeRhianRose Celeborn never had a ring. Galadriel was always the ruler, and Celeborn her consort.

  • @ToneeRhianRose No. The rings were for Galadriel, Elrond, and the king who founded the Grey Havens, who later gave his ring to Gandalf.

  • I like Galadriels speech must better in the Jackson version. She actually seems tempted in the new version, Here, she just sounds like it's all a lark.

  • Why do people excuse the quality of animation on this film, saying "it was only 1978" What about the 50s with Sleeping Beauty or Lady and the Tramp or the 40s with Pinocchio, the most beautifully animated films ever. Poor animation is poor animation, and ladies and gents, this is no Sleeping Beauty. Heck, it's no Jungle Book.

  • @joliefille411 I agree. I wish that Rankin & Bass had done this instead of Bakshi. The only Bakshi movie I like is Wizards. His animation style was more appropriate for that 1 than for this.

  • @ToneeRhianRose with all due respect....you're out of your fucking mind....Rankin Bass turned the Lord of the Rings into a childs story.....even Tolkien himself said the Lord of the Rings was about DEATH.....is THAT a theme that should be turned into a child's musical??? Where there's a whip, theres a way? I like to whip Rankin Bass raw for what they did to this story....it's clear they never even read the fucking books....Rankin Bass should rot in hell...or stick with Frosty the snowman

  • @Zatoichi444 Dude just cause you don't like this movie doesn't mean you should shit on those who made it & those who do like it! It was the Rankin/Bass version that made me wanna read the books in the 1st place.

  • @ToneeRhianRose alright....you're right....but I absolutely despise the Rankin Bass versions....because I know Tolkien is rolling over in his grave right now because of them....he didn't like a single detail of his stories changed....and Rankin Bass was the antithesis of what Tolkien wanted....

  • @Zatoichi444 I liked Bakshi's part too, just not the way the characters of Aragorn, Boromir, Gimli, & Elrond were drawn & that Balrog monster was lame looking too.

  • @ToneeRhianRose I agree about Aragorn and Boromir....Aragorn looked like a mexican, and Boromir looked like a Viking....Elrond looked like a businessman but I thought Gimli was on the money....and as for the Balrog....the description in the books was very vague....I know some "Christians" that loved Jacksons portrayal of the Balrog, because they thought it was the "Devil"....which if you understand the books...it clearly was not....could it have been better? yes....but it's hard to describe it.

  • @Zatoichi444 IMHO they made Gimli way too tall. Elrond to me sort of looked like Julius Caesar. And from what I read in the book, I got the impression of a monster made of black smoke & fire.

  • @ToneeRhianRose I agree with that.....

  • @joliefille411 The time of 1960 and 1980 was a poor time for animated films there where not so many cartoons done properbly yet no good long featured films. Disney movies during those times can give a perspective, after Snow white no Disney film where better made.

  • Celeborn, I am your father! He looks like Luke Skywallker!!

  • Seleborn? Aruman?

  • @illbetilbake I agree with you.....it should be pronounced "Keleborn" and why do they sometimes say "Saruman" and then other time "Aruman"? I could never fathom that.....and why make Glamdring, Gandalfs ancient Elvish sword of Gondolin shatter? What was the point of that? Nevertherless, I like this Gandalf better than Ian Mckellen...This one sounds more like the "real" Gandalf...and looks better....Mckellen's white robes are all dirty in the movies...doesn't do Gandalf justice..

  • theres a glitch around 3:00 that cuts out about 30 seconds of the movie

  • Why didn't Boromir want to go to Lothlorian?

  • galadriel is a fucking milf here LOL XD

  • OMG she said "Seleborn" Nooooooooooooooooooooo it's "Keleborn" !!!!

  • Galadriel. Is. A. Effing. FAIRY.

Also, the singing sounds like a really, REALLY bad children's choir.

  • She's actually a little creepy looking to me.

  • WOW!!! Galadriel is even sexy in a cartoon like she is in PJ's Movie

  • Comment removed

  • So Boromir is the elder son fo the Steward of Gondor...and he's apparently too poor to afford a pair of pants.

  • Oh please! In the Hobbit movie, both the men of Dale AND the Wood Elves of Mirkwood forest go pantsless! And there's not a woman character or background character within the entire movie.

  • @teddilytoodily or a razor!!!!!

  • i like this movie alot:)

  • "Seleborn"? Actually, its pronounced "Keleborn"!

  • wow the grief song for gandalf sounds really cheerful :) plus theyre laughing during it :) and there's Aruman again :D

they all look so calm and not involved in the story :) galadriel for example in the mirror scene

  • poor sam, being retarded and all

  • @tryckfelsnisse oops i laughed

  • Agree. Ironic to hear people saying the new movies are better and then knocking this cartoon, considering Jackson, the one who made the new movies LOVED this cartoon and you can see, he took hundreds of scenes from this and put it straight into this. Jackson would hate to hear all these people insulting this movie, even if they are saying his is better. Ironic, all these haters are ignorant 12 year olds who know nothing about LOTR lore and history. Why do thier parent's let them onto utube??

  • @SolHearst When I say this, it is not because I am comparing it to PJ's movies, or even because I expect this to be utterly faithful to the books. I would just like a few basic things - such as pronunciation (Tolkien gave some explicit instructions in his Appendices regarding this) and good character representation. Sam as a retarded troll, Legolas being so very extremely effeminate and Boromir as a VIKING are all very distracting and completely unnecessary, not to mention ridiculous.

  • well lets look at what pj did with the caracters then.frodo as a stupid and naiv person who belives gollum instead of sam.aragorn as a unwilling king, denethor as a halfevil slobb, legolas as a girls idol, gimli as a funny sidekick, gandalf with as much mystic as a shallow pond of water on the street, sauron as a big firy eye without shape...do the books clearly say he has a shape again. thats alot more faults then a retarted troll and a viking!

  • @imasinnerimasaint why scrutinize??? does it really matter to you that much? What have you contributed to the story, the animated movie or Jacksons Trilogy?? It's just a movie.....sit back and enjoy, you Hobbit

  • All you faggots need to shut up and go away. Bet you couldn't make anything better back in 1978, bunch of losers

  • Are you joking?! Every one of these whiny little utube losers has each made a block-buster movie a million times better than this one(which was a blockbuster when it was released I believe). Of course, none of these people who are so brave as to anonymously insult movies would dare to insult it unless they've made a much better movie. Every one of them has. In fact, Seamoretwillnant down there, who insults Bakshi's concept of Sam Gamgee is the guy who wrote and directed Dark Knight.

  • Actually, I only produced it, but I digress.

Also, what didn't you understand about "Granted, I do really like these movies"? Besides, if anything, you're the alpha-male of whiny youtube losers. Listen to yourself. You whine worse that a rusted, broken fan that was left out in the cold.

  • SolHearst:"Every one of these whiny little utube losers has each made a block-buster movie a million times better than this one(which was a blockbuster when it was released I believe). "

Actually, I don't think it did all that well. Not well enough to finish the story.

  • Dude I gotta get a clip of the song those kids are singing, I cant seem to get a hold of it though.

  • 1:08 Even the video pukes bright, glowing vomit at the sight of what Bakshi did to poor Sam.

"OH! DEAR GOD WHAT IS THAT THING?! *HURK*"

  • Oh shut up mate.....It isn't the video's fault, it didn't do that when I first downloaded it. It must have gotten a minor glitch from a cd I uploaded it to....

  • More or less, I'm commenting on the terrible translation of Samwise from the book to here. The glitch of the video was more like an opportunity to sound a bit smugly clever as I bashed his ridiculous personality.

Granted, I do really like these movies, and most of the character's personalities are spot on, such as Aragorn even though it's not hard to love him here being voice by John Hurt. However, they really just made him totally pathetic and almost a bit retarded in this version.

  • Comment removed

  • @seamoretwillnant That made me laugh more than any other comment I've ever read. :D

  • For "Izzuldor" and "Minus Tiruth" !!!!

  • Pity they didn't know at the time that they were actually pronounced as "Iss-seal-doer" and "Mean-us Tirith" respectively.

  • It's just a cartoon.

  • I really like this movie... :)
