The issue isn't that Peta euthanizes animals. Many animal shelters have to do that at some point, it's a sad fact of life. Peta protests shelters that have to euthanize animals, and then they turn around and do it themselves. And to almost twice as many animals.

You can't assume everyone who donates to PeTA does so in poor judgment or even that they are young and therefore "naive." And I wouldn't say that PeTA uses their donations for anything shady. Everyone can see for themselves what kinds of campaigns PeTA puts out; it's no secret. And they euthanize animals, just like the SPCA does (thought I'd throw that in there in advance, despite the majority of the donations going elsewhere than their euthanasia programs).
I don't think that all their supporters naive. Nor do I think the majority is. I'm saying the ones they would lose if they DID become less extreme would be the people who are naive. I do believe however that PETA uses their budget for things that are questionable and NOT directly benefiting the animals. If I were running some kind of animals rights organization, I would make 100% sure all money would be exhausted for that reason. But I guess that's just me?

It would only be hypocrisy if a non-animal tested drug were available. The fact that it was tested does not mean that the testing is what made it safe. There are numerous examples of drugs that were tested on animals that have killed thousands of people. The only way we truly know how a drug will affect people is when people have used it. Therefore, it is more like Russian Roulette. If you know animal testing is not what made your drugs safe, then there is nothing wrong being against it.

The issue isn't that Peta euthanizes animals. Many animal shelters have to do that at some point, it's a sad fact of life. Peta protests shelters that have to euthanize animals, and then they turn around and do it themselves. And to almost twice as many animals.

@FarKingEL Not because we eat meat but because we hunted, and most predatory animals are much smarter because it takes higher brain functions to be one verses an animal that just hangs out in a herd eating grasses. But people to day to not obtain higher brain function from the conception of meat, and most human diets for the past 10,000 years have had little meat in them. The agrarian societies of the past depended on mostly grain diets. So there is a correlation but how you wrote it is wrong.

Wth all of this (and by this I mean information), one should not base their decisions who runs what. I believe there is a grey area in all of this for one to take from each side, but i have to say helping animals isn't peta's idea. And why is PeTA not a valuable resource? If at least taken with a grain of salt, it can be helpful in different ways. PeTA, at least from what I've seen, cites their resources. Why not check them?

I don't think PETA has bad information pulled outta nowhere or information that is false. I just think that what they do to try to bring it to light, or demonstrate against it makes them look completely non-credible and thus ignored and discarded as "crazies". If they weren't so extremist, people would actually take them seriously. Or at least, I would.

Yes, I agree. Or at least, I wouldn't say their beliefs are extreme, but rather, their method should be examined (from within the organization).

I agree wholly. See, if they weren't so bizarre in their approach, they would, yes, probably lose a lot of support. Though these people would be 13 year old high school freshmen who think they are making a difference by donating money to a group who uses it for shady reasons. This would make PETA a respectable organization, much like the SPCA (which I totally support by the way. lol)

You can't assume everyone who donates to PeTA does so in poor judgment or even that they are young and therefore "naive." And I wouldn't say that PeTA uses their donations for anything shady. Everyone can see for themselves what kinds of campaigns PeTA puts out; it's no secret. And they euthanize animals, just like the SPCA does (thought I'd throw that in there in advance, despite the majority of the donations going elsewhere than their euthanasia programs).

I don't think that all their supporters naive. Nor do I think the majority is. I'm saying the ones they would lose if they DID become less extreme would be the people who are naive. I do believe however that PETA uses their budget for things that are questionable and NOT directly benefiting the animals. If I were running some kind of animals rights organization, I would make 100% sure all money would be exhausted for that reason. But I guess that's just me?

Some of their supporters may be naive but that comes with any organization. :P
Anyway, I would also repurpose their donations but I don't think they are doing a terrible job. I made this video because, despite not agreeing with them 100% of the time, I do not believe they should be villianized.

And on a sidenote, I cannot honestly support the SPCA anymore than other [real] animal organizations. How are they any better than PeTA when they (the SPCA) have euthanized 79% of their animals in the span of 5 years, while claiming to be an organization of shelters (while PeTA does not)? Furthermore, I cannot support an organization who will only pay attention to the 'puppies and kittens' of the animal kingdom.

You do realise if PETA got there way our soceity would fall apart.
Problem is that people might support PETA until they realise that without animal testing ( for example) they wouldnt be alive.

actually, im a 15 year old freshmen (your off by a year m8..freshmen are 14-15) but anyways im a vegan but i dont donate or anything but i feel like i do my part. i think peta is horrible. look at the uthenization rates in virginia...CMON! 10000 animals is no laughing matter. I'm not stupid enough to donate to PETA. To tell you the truth, only an uninfored nit-wit would donate to peta.

Yes exactly i eat meat but i belive as a food scource that animals disearve the best respect possilbe. Also I have no problem with people being vegan because thats a personal choice. But Peta is anti human animal interaction period if you go on to there web sight you will find this thing called peta`s uncompromising views on animal rights. You first go to the home page then click on about peta then off to the right hand side you will find all there petas uncomprimising views on animal rights

I think what PeTA stands for is great. They are educating people about the facts of factory farms, fur farms, etc. The PEOPLE who own/run/protest for PeTA are the ones that are too drastic. PeTA needs to learn to fight with knowladge, not with violance. I, personally, love the website of PeTA and what it stands for. I also love the funny advertisements like Veggie Love. Us Vegans, and Vegetarians need to stand together and educate, not fight!

I agree with you. Some of their staff must have a few loose screws because their approach is kinda... funky, to say the least. Haha. But we can at least learn to appreciate that they make a huge effort to put that information out there, as you mentioned.

Hey, who's to criticize them for being consistent? The point is that it is cruel to test on animals, no matter what the "cause" is. And the reality is, we have been testing for "cures" for cancer and AIDs in animals for so long. We can cure these disease in rats, but still not humans. To say the least, somethings gotta give...

Morphine and other painkiller were tested on animals as well.
In fact nearly every drug was tested on animals at some point.

5. Testing on animals, I go to a Health Science school and I will tell you the only reason we have Biomedical progress is because of Animal Testing!

I understand the confusion. The problem with a lot of the terms we use (animal rights, animal liberation, etc) is that they are confusing.
What we want for animals is for them to be protected from exploitation. That is the best way I can define it.

It would only be hypocrisy if a non-animal tested drug were available. The fact that it was tested does not mean that the testing is what made it safe. There are numerous examples of drugs that were tested on animals that have killed thousands of people. The only way we truly know how a drug will affect people is when people have used it. Therefore, it is more like Russian Roulette. If you know animal testing is not what made your drugs safe, then there is nothing wrong being against it.

Selksies, the point of this video wasn't to deny they euthanize animals; why would there be a need to deny a freezer that may be used for euthanized animals? The point is to expose the hype of these websites, with hidden agendas might I add, and how they can twist something like humane euthanasia into something evil.

Well first off Peta does kill animals. They spent $9300 on a freezer which you can see through public records. A freezer that big is a meat freezer which holds the cadavers of the animals they Euthanize! They brought in 2,300 animals in 2007. guess how many were found homes?? about 700. The other 1600? oh they were killed. Peta is a terrorist organization who makes points with horrificly gory pictures and people rolling fur coats in blood. Im not for animal cruelty but peta = HYPOCRITES!
