Loved the song Spun Gold by these guys. had a chance to but the album in a 2nd hand store and was to cheap to spend the 5 bucks. now i live in regret. If anyone has Spun gold please post it.
I heard this song being played live at San Francisco Airport by a guy and a girl. It took me by surprise cause its such an obscure song. I think this song received a lot of airplay on Southern California radio stations but it was great hearing it live.
I was active in the LA scene when the Salvation Army/Three O'Clock was active, and, coincidentally, was also a mod. The "Paisley Underground" scene (Three O'Clock, Green on Red, Dream Syndicate, The Bangs/Bangles, and to some extent Redd Kross) were not mods, though their appeal crossed over to that crowd. Still, the two scenes were distinct. You'd have found many, many more mods at an Untouchables show than a Three O'Clock show, though the two crowds got along well.
when i met michael at citrus college or was it azusa pacific said his fave bands at that time were the jackson5 but cant remember if he said hermans hermits or the byrds
my dad used to play this record for me and my sister when we were young and the whole family would jump up on a chair and put our arms out and start running around the house. Great memories.
Wow the memories are coming back. s. calif scene, scooterville in anahiem, the pow club (I kicked the shit out of that wiseass english bob one night), parkas, desert boots, the teds ( thats for you Mikey), the yearly scooter rally to the rose parade. I saw this band live once and they did the best version of "paperback writer". At least I ride a BMW motorcycle now, almost as cool as a scoot. I'd marry the first girl who could remember that scene. lol
I was 15 when this album was released. I lived in Costa Mesa, and there was a pretty big mod scene in Orange County. I recall a huge evening at Knott's when The Untouchables played and there were hundreds of mods there, running amok. Great times!
I remember this big mod scene, there was a big scooter rally in the Orange Circle (I forget the club name now) & a brawl one night with the Teddy Boys...yes, and I also saw Quadrophenia too... I loved this music, had it on cassette back in the day! Michael Quercio! Fun times!
The Untouchables were awesome! they opened for alot of bands in the 80's I think they opened for Oingo Boingo at least a dozen times, never got the big break they deserved. "I spy for the FBI"!
I remember some clashes between the mods on their scooters and the Teddy boy rockers, esp. at some club in the Orange circle...sometime in the early 80's
Oh yeah! Circle City! How could I forget? I guess I am getting old too! I remember going there one night & there was a huge gathering of mods on their scooters & also Teddy Boys...then there was a brawl and the police came. Crazy, exciting memories!
Not Are You Guys Only Old but You Guys Got Oldtimers!!!!?
Even A punk with a Vespa like Me Remembers Gino's in Hollywood.., Mama Brown's in O.C., Grand Central Station In L.B.C. & Radio City in Buena Park!!! Oh Yeah & 321 in Fullerton!!!
By the way, the video game the guy was playing in this video was a real video game. It was called M.A.C.H. 3, and was a laserdisc/video game hybrid (which is why the backgrounds were live action and the jetfighters were computer graphics).
I remember this - they asked a bunch of guys with scooters to have a rally to LAX which I went to. I also went to the premiere of the video, I believe it was at the "Music Machine" in Santa Monica. Many LA mods went to shows by the "Paisley" scene bands. The Bangles was originally in that scene.
holy crap, someone put this up!!!! so rad. i always wondered if they considered themselves mod revivalist since they dressed like all the other british mod revival bands, and didn't look or sound a thing like the other la paisley bands. i think the scooters in this video confirmed my suspicions.
Wow. I never knew there was a video for this. "Her Head's Revolving" was the only one I'd seen before and that was back in 1985. Hands down, the Three O'Clock were one of the best bands back then. Michael looks like he's 12. Then again, he still does. Great post!
this is POWER pop.

I was just posting the same thought in the comments of "Her Head's Revolving". "Spun Gold" is an incredible song and deserves to be here on YouTube.
