Just as an observation. You may shoot your 1911 and the Sigs better but that doesn't mean they are inherently more accurate weapons. There are probably people out there that could rain dance all over your head with the m&p series. I think a more accurate claim would have been, I can shoot better with my 1911 and the sig.
Just purchased one and am very happy with the 45c. This is coming from someone that carries and owns Wilsons. My good buddy is issued that 4.5" 45 for duty and he loves the damn thing. That's how I got introduced to the M&P as everytime we went to the range he'd let me shoot it so I was familar with it prior to finally buying one. We shall see how it holds up.
i haven't had a good experience with my M&P40c. i've sent mine back to SW for repairs twice, and the problem still occurs. my slide would continuously lock back after each round is fired. i tried to narrow down the problem by changing mags and ammo, but the problem was still occurring. also, i was not a big fan of the spongy trigger.
however, i do like the design of the pistol, it's a comfortable gun to carry. the frame is much slimmer than the glock, somewhat of a 1911 feel, but not a 1911.
@baker70romeo That's interesting. However I suspect that the problem is a simple and minor thing. If you were local I'd say come in and let me see it. I've seen this issue before in other guns, and every time, every single time, it's the shooter's hand, not the gun.
Ajax Tactical has an amazing trigger kit for the Swampy that makes it better than a Glock and more 1911'ish.
@MadOgre there's a good possibility i was limp wristing. either way, i bought a G23 to replace it. i need to drop it off to a dealer and have them sell it.
cant wait to get one, The next 2 guns I really want are HK45 and Sig P229, damn fine pistols. Cant believe you got rid of your HK man, that is a crime against huminty.
i just got a m&p 45, the 4.5" barrel, and i love it... I like it better then my glock 22, i didnt know if i would in the beginning but from playing around with itr and just an accumulating of all the features i like it better. Just my opinion.
Who really has a beef with mag disconnect safeties? Are you that skilled you're going to be shooting your last bullet while in the middle of reloading?
@ethosflux The m&p 45 i have does not have the mag safety and also if you slam ( not to hard) the clip in as soon as you drop your empty clip in it, the slide will close and it will be ready to keep firing.
i say the m&ps,to me theyre a little more versatile, ive owned the ruger p90 and sig 220 myself tho,i only have a little trigger time with the m&p 45 and i liked it,i couldnt testify to constant reliabilty but accuracy was nice
Ogre, get the Sig. I saw your Sig 229 SCT shooting vid and you gave a good impression enjoying how it feels. The contour of the Sig 220 SAS shows exceptional beauty in detail. It looks good in your hand and you know it will perform nice. Get the Sig. It's just one of your fans opinions, but that's my opinion. Yeah! You get a full grip, and you won't feel like a Brit.
While it would not make a difference to me, I would suggest looking at the M&P .45 with the the shorter 4" barrel. The one you are holding with the 4.5" barrel creates the illusion of the bent slide. I personally like the longer length as it looks more formidable. Different strokes.
My dealer let me shoot the M&P 45 mid 2008. I just mentioned it & by coincidence he had it on him. He brings it to the range & gets people into it, putting his kids through college. I fired the first shot & agreed to buy it, as soon as I go back to work. Guns rule recessions suck.
M&P45C is lighter to carry than a 1911 or a P220, of course. About 4 oz lighter than the Sig. I was surprised that you didn't mention that when weighing the pros and cons.
I've done detailed comparison of G26 vs M&P 9 Compact. They are probably the most two similar guns out there. I would just get whichever you shoot better. For me that is the M&P.
My 19 11 s have always misfired without exception. My M&P has never misfired. I have over 1000 rounds through it.

@speedhed4 for what? the hype is bullshit. The stopping power is less than the standard service calibers.

MadOgre,
Have you tried the M&P 45 Mid-size?
It has the 4" slide with a full size grip.
I am trying to decide which compact size 45 I want.

@stealth800 Yup. In fact, I just might buy it myself. Love it.

eastofakron1 1 year ago
Dude nothing against M&P but you really cannot compare a Sig to a S&W. It's a no brainer GET the Sig.
Gspsx 1 year ago
THE ONLY THING I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THE M&P A SIDE FROM THE TRIGGER IS THE MAG DISCONNECT SAFETY. ONE IN THE PIPE NO MAG = PAPER WEIGHT.
Springr1911 1 year ago
@Springr1911 You can get them without the mag disconnect safeties as well.

Then again, I just can't shoot Sigs well, especially in .45. The high bore axis annoys me. Flippy.
Low bore axis is a nice feature of the M&P series (and of Glocks).

Yea the MP 45 frame bends down, Glock frames bend up. It is annoying to look at, but of course doesnt affect function.
