First argument: default permissions. They are defined by the admin of your Google Apps domain. And yes the default "default permissions" is share with the people on the domain maybe because THE PURPOSE OF A DOMAIN IS TO WORK TOGETHER??
Second: The option "Convert online" DOES NOT REPLACE THE ORIGINAL FILE, contrary to this guy tries to make you think.
Third: concurrent updates. Remember me, how does MS deals with this? ... yes that's what I thought.
If this isn't a cry of desperation, I don't know what is. I've used Cloud Connect with Word 2010 and have had NONE of these problems. The guy in the video isn't even using the tool correctly. This is just a lame attempt from MS to try and bash Google since they are dominating them in the Cloud space. Boohoo, MS.
@sulphuricaciduk Ummmmm..... since they have 3.5 Mil businesses on their cloud messaging platform... and everything they do is 100% web.... how is that for starters? You must have missed that? :)
Wow, this is pathetic. Microsoft: stop playing "gotcha!" with Google and release something innovative for once. You're a decade behind Google in terms of thought leadership and next-gen innovation and nit-picking a free plugin isn't going to solve that.
@norfolklives Rofl, Google has never, EVER created something on its own. Gmail - copy of Hotmail and Yahoo mail Search - copy from pre-existing seachengines and has started cloning Bing features in the last two years. Android - Bought the company and copied JAVA code Google docs - cheap imitation of (web)office/skydrive Earth - Mapquiest exc. YouTube - bought Talk, Picasa, SketchUp, Chrome, Buzz, News, Orkut, Shopper, Translate - stolen/copied/bought The list goes on, and on, and on. Thanks.
Looks like Microsoft is really shitting their pants with this. Going so far as releasing this nitpicking video. I've installed the plugin and had none of these problems. Although I'm on Office 2003 at work.
using Track changes creates a lot more problems than google cloud connect does.
The microsoft guy explains that Google Cloud Connect has some minor problems, but isn't the version conflict problem even worse when you use Office without Cloud Connect? On a network drive? I don't really get the point.
can't wait to ditch my google apps payment for office 360!

@norfolklives For an innovative company Google sure are good at copying Microsoft and others. Name something original they have done.
