update: i just watched a bunch of videos from that website. i thought the other videos like this one explaining the different mediums for drawing were great; however, all of the other drawing videos are by different people. those artists skills left much to be desired. not to mention, there was conflicting info. disappointing.
wow this is the best drawing information i've come across on youtube. i'm looking forward to viewing your other videos. i appreciate your suggestion about using the backs of junk mail for practice. GREAT way to go green!
Oh by the way,you say that the H category pencils aren't great to draw nor sketch.I draw birds and when I do my rough sketch,I use a 2H pencil.Should I use another kind or it's fine as it is?
I wouldn't know, but I think most printer paper is acid free. Check the packaging. My grandpa has drawings from the 60's that (if i recall correctly) are on what seems to be the same thing as the standard copy paper we use today.
Last week I buy a sketchbook. The paper is very rough, so i cant use my usual HB pencil. I must take a 3H because with HB the sketches gets to dark and the outlines gets to inaccurate. I think ive learned for life, because that sketchbook and the paper sucks. I use this sketch book, till it's full of sketches, and then i'll go back to the roots and take printer paper again. I'ts not expensive and i'ts enough for my talent ^^
To get an ultra sharp point, make use of a scrap paper, using the pencil at an angel and making fast back & forth motions while also turning the pencil around, producing a almost microscopic point.
Also, for blrnding, I have found that employing used stripped cigarette filters are great, & I also found out that one can also draw with the eraser as well, experiment, you will be surprised at the effects you can produce.
While I can see how in chosing paper can effect the end quality for particular effects, pencils, on the other hand, I discovered I can get any shade with a common #2 pencil that one can obtain with all the various different art pencils they have on the parket.
ohh! I never thought of using paper under my hand while drawing.. (or my highschool art teacher lol)
I quit drawing at an early age because I have very sweaty palms and I managed to ruin 80% of my work.. the paper would buckle and of course smear the graphite.
I think I will start drawing again thanks to your tip :)

@ninjatigyee Graphite, not granite. Granite is what is often used as a counter top in kitchens graphite is a pencil's "lead".
