The Ukraine and Bulgaria were cut off from their gas supply because Russia was in a conflict with a neighboring country. Its not the number of soldiers that determins who wins, its the logistical support behind those soldiers that determins who wins. The US and Allies have the capabilitry to deploy anywhere in the world. Neither China nor Russia can do that, their range is limited to eastern europe and aisia. America bombed the hell out of Germany, freed France & stopped a blitzkrieg, defeated the Japanese, ground out 50,000 tanks & 1,000 ships, created the A-bomb, and still crapped out 10,000 trucks and planes for the Russians & brits. AT THE SAME TIME. You can't top that.

You'd be surprised how powerful Russia actually is.
They still have all of the Soviet Missiles, Nukes, Tanks, and a wide assortment of AKs.
Their Military personnel size is bigger than the U.S., but probably almost as high-tech.
While Russia may not be very political anymore, they are still very powerful from a military standpoint.

Its not the number of soldiers that determins who wins, its the logistical support behind those soldiers that determins who wins. The US and Allies have the capabilitry to deploy anywhere in the world. Neither China nor Russia can do that, their range is limited to eastern europe and aisia. The only reason they are a threat on any level is their nuclear weapons.

@dave19941000 Well Russia can defend itself from an American full on invasion, some of their technology is far more advanced in some areas - missiles to be exact.If you calculate military advantage, the USA will not be able to soften defenses due to Anti See defenses specifically designed for Aircraft carriers. Then again, Russia will not be successful in Invading USA, as their will be serious loss of life, (better trained enemy, better logistics, average technology level is higher)

@X7ELI7X Actually Russia is superior in Helicopter technology (there the only ones which an armored helicopter). When it comes to missile technology the English countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) are the head of the block. We are the only ones who posses nuclear cruise missiles, which are undetectable. Although any fight would be a hard one, Russia and/or China would lose if there was a war that did not end in a peace treaty.

@dave19941000 Well.. while English countries have some advanced technology, and utilize very high quality equipment, China/Russia have their sheer manpower, a very valuable asset, that they will undoubtedly waste and throw at the enemy.. I'm pretty sure Europe will have an incredibly difficult time fighting a war like that. I would expect a tie, both populations would be too small too dwindled to muster a fight and of course the world will simply end with any use of nuclear weapons.

If only we imported from the ROC instead of the PRC. God knows we'd be better off (financially) and dramatically reduce China's ability to wage war. Obviously, it'd have to be more than just the ROC, but I'm sure many other countries would love to take over anything labeled "Made in China."

Yeah, but then China's economy, still heavily reliant on exports would collapse. China lacks Oil, minerals, steel, etc, so they wouldn't be making very many tanks. Not too mention Japan, australia, all of europe, Canada, India, would fall behind America. That's over a billion people right there, and they're far richer than China.

They've always been "Statist" or "Centralized". Sure they crack into smaller kingdoms from time to time (Wei, Shu, Wu) or , but they re-unify into One China after some time passes. Oh and they tend to mind their own business. Otherwise, China's neighbors like my homeland of the Philippines, Japan, Korea, and etc would all be speaking Mandarin.

well if its numbers we're talking, the americans have a much larger military, not to mention a larger population, also of note is the fact the in the USA people aren't forced to fight, its an army made of to willing, well trained individuals, this is in utter contrast to the make up of the russian army.
So overall, americans have lots more cash to get a tech advantage, they have larger numbers (pop/mil), they have allies (euro, america, japan). so anything else you'd like to argue?

Check the F-22, budget 65 billion unit cost 150 million, Russian PAK FA with the same capabilities budget under 10 billion unit cost under 100 million. This goes for armor, small arms, aircraft, everything the Russians produce is just as capable but much much cheaper.
