  • this shit is way overpriced, fucking 28k, might as well just buy an EVO, i really wish they would make it affordable. At the price they have the ralliart right now, the people who can afford that should not be buying a fucking lancer, but a jaguar...my god lower the price

  • @BraylenPA Right...because 28 grand is the same as 35 grand...no wait it's not. Oh I know 28 grand is the same as a 53 grand then(lowest price jag). No that's not right either. Besides which mitsu has $1000 cash back from factory or 0-1.9% financing (which should be saving of over several grand instead of the normal ~6% financing from other makers). Then you heav dealer mark downs as mitsu dealers are hungry for sales.

  • i hve this car run beautiful...awsome control

  • Can you please review the 2011 WRX?

  • @rexandninja I will get a WRX or STi on the schedule at some point ...

  • @mpgomatic

Thanks, I'm thinking of getting one before the winter, the mazdaspeed 3 although with better than advertised mpg has a questionable reliability. I'm driving a 08 regular mazda 3 hatchback now 5sp manual.

  • ITS AWD??????

  • @jwhyte yes...and a very nice one at that. Althought not as nice as the current EVO's. It is as good as the last gen EVO's tho (as it was popped from it).

  • Comment removed

  • This car starts at $27,695. I thought the Ralliart was in the low 20's. The Subaru WRX starts at $25,495. Why is the ralliart so expensive?

  • @katanamast279 because it has most of the stuff from the evolution except the power and a couple of other small things

  • @MrOdogowen Oh ok. So I'm assuming that the Ralliart would still be a pretty quick car despite the lack of power. The 4WD and Active YAW control must contribute to that.

  • @katanamast279 exactly

  • @MrOdogowen I wonder why Subaru doesnt make the WRX or STI with the active YAW control?

  • @katanamast279 they would have to do some tests to make a really good yaw control system and that will cost a little bit and they dont want to raise their prices right now.

  • @katanamast279 The tranny they use is 12 grand from gertag...the better question should be why is it ONLY 2 grand more expensive?!?

  • OMG. I thought the gears were fast forwarded/edited! LOL. Nice review!

  • Ive heard things about this car which scares me to buy it. People say turbos are dangerous if not used right, and im no expert on turbos. So does that mean i shouldnt get one because i dont know how to maintain it? Experts PLEASE HELP!!

  • @Egahm23 Get an oil change every 3k miles and your fine. Older turbos needed to be warmed up and cooled down...the new designs have that taken care of so you don't have to worry about that aspect. But oil change is critical. No it can go another 500 miles, you need to change the oil religiously for turbo cars. Also the tranny needs to be flushed every 30k miles for this car for most drivers. Since the tranny is a 12 grand piece, blowing that is much worse then a blown turbo.

  • Since I live in Michigan, and it snows and rains almost all year, and I love racing cars, I'm getting THIS!!!

  • best review of all.

  • 1 man thinks that Subaru is better than Ralliart :D

  • @Elnur12345 Better out of box performace...make that two. The WRX has more power and better tires. However as soon as you need new tires, the RA turns better (assuming equal tire replacement and not being forced to replace with stock tires). As for the power issues, well the RA is much easier to tune up then the WRX as the RA shares the same engine block as the EVO. Since I like tweaking my cars, I like the RA better. For people who don't...as much as I hate to say it, the WRX is better.

  • My next car!

  • stupid question but does anyone know if this car makes that whisper sound from the turbo?

  • @drdude2029 No, the ralliart doesn't have a "proper" blow off valve so you don't get that whoosh sound. It is however consider one of the must have mods for a RA as the plastic one it has is junk, and the HKS one does make a pretty nice whoosh sound if that is what you like (although the HKS one is a bit of an overkill on the RA's stock turbo).

  • That's not bad mileage you got. Although I have to ask is that "normal" driving or hypermilling? regardless getting mileage that good is great for a car like this.

  • @rowsdower12 Thanks! I'm not a hypermiler, but I do tend to go fast through the corners. ;) It's all about learning how to lighten up your right foot ...

  • @mpgomatic haha. Cool. I'm a big fan of the Lancer line up especially the EVO. I don't have a sporty car at all myself but I'm the same way, I do like going through corners fast and exiting them fast (to the best my car can). When your an enthusiast its hard not too, of course seeing car reviews makes you want to drive more "daring." So with the numbers you go with this car was "normal" driving? obviously keep it light but not to the point of hypermiler. That's still good.

  • i want one of those

  • Guys, Search Proton Inspira On Youtube Or Google.

  • i want the evo but its 20,000 more than the ralliart, why???

  • @iiTzIILeGiiTIIXiO ALOT more power

  • @iiTzIILeGiiTIIXiO Is this car like 20,000 ?

  • @iiTzIILeGiiTIIXiO the ralliart has 237hp and the evo has 291.i honestly think mitsubushi could do better but with the evo your paying for better stage turbos and a better tuned suspension thus giving you those xtra horses.i love evos but wouldnt buy one.you could get more horsepower for your money if you look at other cars like the gencoupe, mustang gt, and camaro 2lt

  • @MASTERHOLYDICK Power ain't everything...getting that power to the road is. The fancy drivetrain and chassis of the EVO does this exceptionally well and as such the EVO will beat those other cars you mentioned in an autocross race. Yeah it's easy to get the RA to match the EVO's power...or even exceed it a it...but to match everything else the EVO has over the RA is a fortune. Still considering that you can get new RA for 20 grand or less at end of year...not a bad car to play around with.

  • Can u PLEASE review the lancer gts?

  • I agree!!!

  • If you buy this car, whats the point of watching your gas millage lol

  • beautiful car, thank u for the video,,but i need to ask some questions

1)is it comfortable for driving as if it is ur basic car?

2)i heard but i'm not sure,is there a fingerprint on the doors to open the car?,,and f u open it with ur fingerprint, can u start the engine without having the key inside the car?because if u want to start it's engine, the key must be inside the car(it is keyless).

3)is there a start engine button on the key,to start it from distance without being inside like mercedes?

  • what is the price in europe for this car?

  • i have a question... are the hood vents functional? or just decorative?

  • @bigd901122 Yes, both vents and the scoop are functional.

  • 17l/100km in the city and higway 25l/100 km????we are fucking crazy or what?? LOL

  • its called the mitsubishi lancer EX here in the philippines.

  • @seaboo143

ungas wala pang ralliart na binebenta dito. un ex high-end lng na lancer.

  • @comixx1274 san mo nakuha info mo? anak ako ng sole distributer ng mitsubishi cars sa pinas straight from japan. kami ang nag didistribute sa ibat-ibang show rooms sa buong pilipinas! kaya alam ko pinagsasabi ko.

  • @seaboo143

  • i have a question do you need to totally stop to change the differentials between tarmac, gravel and snow or its possible to do it while driving ?

  • @iceon23 not sure if you still want to know but yes you can do it while driving... i should know i own one

  • Normally I don't care for foreign cars, but I have to admit that transmission is pretty impressive! This car also has some style, unlike most Japanese and similar cars.

  • Basically its a suped up GTS with AWD. It uses the EVO 9s AWD system, and the Xs MR SST minus the S-Sport mode. Engine is the same, its just the RA, uses a single scroll turbo, while the X uses a twin scroll turbo. Other than that its a great car to drive, until you drive a X

  • I guess they did pop the hood and I see a transversely mounted engine, lol whoops. If it's always AWD then I guess it doesn't really matter that it's based off the FWD platform anyway.

  • It isnt that bad since the Evolution X utilize the same platform.

  • Damn I really like this car! I'm not sure why Nissan can't step it up with the Spec V and offer AWD.

I do have one question about this car though, the AWD system is based off FWD/a transversely mounted engine, right?

  • are you launching it at 1:09 meaning are you holding the break while pressing the gas then releasing the break cause you RPMs are around 3k when you start moving

  • Yep. This is a brake torque launch.

  • @mpgomatic great review, but how are the seats like are they low sitting like the genesis coupe or higher and more comfy because im hating the seats in the Genesis coupe they are way too low for me maybe bcuz im 6'2 but which one has better seating and more comfy.....please and thanks

  • @GenesisWhip18 Thx! Seats are like shoes ... you gotta try 'em on ...

  • @mpgomatic ahah well said man i think i might try the ralliart

  • That's an awesome shift for an "auto"....

  • @WRfourfiddy not really an "auto". its more of an automated manual

  • Just bought mine a couple of weeks ago.. i cant wait for it anymore. Great car

  • @Karnage542 man, i envy you haha (enjoy your car)

  • @eldom20 thanks man, i am enjoying it. Im already buying proformance parts for it lol. ill prob put a vid up of the exhaust as soon as i get it on the car

  • mpgomatic: can you guys if you ever have a little time...review the Toyota Land Cruiser?? I know is not a best-seller or a very impressive car, but is very comfortable and very tough and it will be nice to review one of the best 4x4 in the world.

    Thanks,

  • Too bad i don't see many of these cars out on the road. i've only seen 1 since they've been on the market, and less than 20 lancers. These look like agressive and strong cars. I went to my Mitsubishi dealer and saw 3 ralliarts that sadly one was coverd with cobwebs, you think with not as high a demand of ralliarts, i might be able to get a really good deal from the dealership?

  • mpgomatic: I have heard comments that this car is unconfortable to drive every day. Is that true? Also, did you guys liked the car overall or did you guys seem that something was missing so it could be perfect?

    I loved this review,

    Thanks a lot

  • Thanks, LC890! The Ralliart is a blast, but it's not a cushy soft car... you either fit in the Recaro seats, or not. I could definitely live with it on a day-to-day basis, but would love to have super adjustable lumbar support and heated seats -- two great things to have on long drives (and cold days).

  • Thanks alot!

  • @mpgomatic if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure the 2011 Lancer Ralliart comes with a Touring package in place of the Recaro seat package. So instead of the Recaro seats, you get leather heated seats. If you look on truecar.com, they have a Touring package instead of the Recaro package, so thats all I'm basing my information off of, but truecar.com hasn't failed me yet!

Love the review by the way, "oh wait! is that a marschall amp? or a subwoofer? its both!"

  • This is a great car, I have one, haven't timed a good 0-60 launch, but by my stopwatch you did it in 5.3 seconds, very nice.

  • One of the best RA reviews I've seen. I was told that these Lancer's have a bad resale value, is that true?

  • Thanks, IWI!

Not sure about resale values. I'd reckon that many RA owners might be tough on their cars. Kinda comes with the territory. Is there a Mitsubishi factory warranty on previously owned Lancers?

  • I know in oz warranty is 5 years and 10 years on motor and drive train

  • Great review and great car! I am glad you have expanded mpg reviews to other cars like this that feature great features as well as testing their mileage.

To have a AWD performance sedan that also gets 27mpg is outstanding! Thanks for the review!

  • Thanks for watching! :)

It IS possible to get decent mileage in a car that's fun to drive. It's all in the way you drive ... stomp on it when you need to, feather it when you can ...

  • How much was the cost of this? That transmission looks awesome.

  • Base MSRP: $26,490

    Premium paint: $150

    Recaro Sport Package: $2750

    Destination & Handling: $675

    Total MSRP: $30,065

  • I think we would love it if this breakdown was in the videos- this is very, very important info to anyone really considering the car!

  • Ah, it would just make it more likely for me to make a typo in the video ... and that's a PITA to fix. :) I'm thinking about including the info on the review page on the website, tho.

    Many thanks for the input!

  • What was the price of the A4 and CTS you tested?

  • They were considerably more expensive.

I need to go dig up the window stickers. D'oh!

  • That's kinds of alot imo. Don't know if the interior is good enough to justify that price, but how it handles seems pretty good and may justify the price. May have to test one of these.

  • The Recaros are great, as long as you fit. :) I'd love to see adjustible lumbar and heated seats. This one is tons of fun to drive.

  • wow, for 30 grand, id rather get a G8 GXP/GT or a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T for $20,000 and upgrade the turbo, or Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo Coupe for $24,000.

  • Get those G8s while they last! Another one of our favorite cars.

  • great review of the ralliart!

I also saw your review of the v6 camaro and was wondering which one of the two did you find sporter and more enjoyable to drive hard?

  • Thanks! :)

The V6 Camaro I tested was an automatic with giant 21-inch rims. This RalliArt was more fun to drive with gusto and it's *glued* ... but the Camaro is a rock star, no doubt about it ... that car draws a crowd. I need to drive a manual V6 for comparison.

I also spent a couple of days driving the V8 SS Camaro ... now THAT was insanely great. Took thirty years off my clock!

  • Really? Was it cramped in the interior? SS camaro seems abit overrated I guess.

  • I would love to have a Camaro SS in the barn. Of course I'd need the barn, first ... ;)

  • thanks!

  • 11stt

  • Very nice to see this. Looks like the seat adjustment was decently ok. Tell me what your thoughts of the adjustments are? How well did you fit in it? So do you like this more than the CTS or A4? CTS interior looks to be smaller I think though. Not sure of the A4. A4 seems kinda larger. How well does this vehicle handle offroad? I am also interested in snow conditions of vehicle as well since my area we get allot of snow in the winter time.

Oh and very nice AMP! looks like MG250 to me!. =)

  • I'm about 5' 10" and I fit easily. I had a 6'5"er try out the driver's seat and he had lots of room with the seat pushed back. The bolsters are tight and really hold you in the seat.

While I was able to test the RalliArt on gravel, I didn't venture off-road.

The RalliArt is very different from both the A4 and CTS - they are much more luxurious. But I'd be happy to have any of the three in my driveway.

  • Really? That's nice to hear. Speaking of hearing. How is the sound system that you tested in the Lancer? I wanted to ask, What's the difference between EVO and Raliart? Besides more power obviously. Is there anything different in the terms of refinements? What do you like better? WRX or Lancer Rali? Pretty much my next buy will be a A4 or CTS or Lancer Rali maybe EVO if I can afford it. Whats the price range of the three? Luxury isnt a big thing for me. I am a youngster so I enjoy sport typecars

  • The Rockford Fosgate sound system thumped, but it didn't have an USB iPod hookup, just line in.

The EVO has more HP/Torque, Brembo brakes, Enkei or BBS alloy rims. Haven't been in the WRX long enough to comment.

  • 1stt

    nice vd
