  • Im sorry, but who wrote this song? I Know Mad Dog Macrae did a really good vrsion but did Damh write it?

  • @ojwatts it's an old folk song. I remember hearing it in Music Appreciation in kindergarten lol

  • Gah! What tasteless imbecile disliked this?

    I adore this song.. n..n

  • been a while since I've seen Dave {dahm} live but he's fantastic

  • I always new this song as Gypsy Laddie.

One of the the greatest songs forever and perfect performed.

I should train my rusty fingers :-)

  • seen him play this live, its fantastic. :)

  • This is the best version I have been able to find online, and I was originally just looking for lyrics. My mum used to sing a much slower paced version of this song, and nothing will ever top how she used her voice to fill those nights with passion.

  • love this song. gets you going it does.

  • Damh rocks the folk and folks the rock!

  • "They came a-brave and boldly-o~

One sang high and the other sand low

And the other sang a-raggle-taggle gypsy-o~"

  • i love this song the sixth graders sang it really well this year

  • Love song, BLESSED BE ALL! )O(

  • One of the best versions of this song I have heard yet.

  • I have never heard this song before, but the way he sings it is great!

  • This is a damn good version but the Dolmens version blows it away, but i suppose its not about whos versions is the best aslong as the song is good and the message is strong and clear!! /I\

  • this is the best version of this song ive ever heard :P

  • This is the best version of Raggle Taggle Gypsies that I have heard yet. Very well done.

  • this is probabl;y the only song that i really like from damh the bard...theyre a good band but i usually like strong female vocals...but in this he is very good

  • @panicattack54321 Damh The Bard isn't a band... He's one man, tho in this case there may be others, this song has more than one instrument.

  • Thank you! I didn't really study about Damh The Bard. And by me saying I like strong female vocals, just in case you misinterpreted that; I meant I like bands that have mostly female singers. But thank you so much for going out of your way to tell me that Damh The Bard is an artist, not a band. I will definetly keep that in mind.

  • @panicattack54321 Thanks. I usually like bands with female singers too.

    :^)

  • @Midsummerwolfmoon Not entirely true... he used to be part of a band but has since gone solo. Spiral Castles was a band based album, this one I think they feature but it is largely solo, by the next album he is a one man band.

  • @AngryOscillator Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me. I don't like giving out incorrect information to others, so thanks for correcting me. No sarcasm, I actually mean what I'm saying.

  • Devo essere sincero, effettivamente è molto simile a "Vanità di vanità" di Angelo Branduardi. Bellissimo canto tradizionale, comunque.

  • lol This song makes me want to dance like a fool! I love Damh the Bard!

  • The Waterboys vocals are better

  • i love this song and this version is the best i have heard yet

  • these aren't the traditional lyrics (same story, but different words especially at the start), but tis a good recording.

  • Yeah I thought I've heard differnt lyrics, always the same with such old songs

  • i've never seen them written down before, learnt it off by heart from my dad/ grandfather :)

  • I can't see the comment of mine that you replied to..I wander where it went?! Weird!

  • Awesome song. Really catchy! But...

... Am I the only one that thinks the guitar sound a lot like the Canyonero theme song from The Simpsons?

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • great!!!!!!

  • Gotta love that pentagram...so mote it be!!!!!!!!

  • i love this !!!!

  • It is so upbeat!
