  • he starts speaking viet at 2:42. your welcome

  • The only thing I understood is "New Jersey" oh and "Viet Nam"... but that's probably because I don't speak Vietnamese...

Seems like a really difficult language to learn with all the different tones...

  • I'm Vietnamese and I have NO idea what he's saying! He's better than ME! hahahaha

  • speaking Tieng Viet is hard because tone & vowel length changes a word's meaning.

  • I think you need to work on your accent and maybe speak a little clearer

A few accent issues, but practice practice practice!

  • People called you a Vietnamese wannabe... Seriously! Who would want to be a Vietnamese wannabe. -__- Your really good by the way

  • Good job dude!!! I readvan article about my language several days ago which said it was a stupid and horrible language like that of a whining cat and a barking dog. Now i know that there is at least one person who likes it and im so happy about it. Cố gắng lên nhé!!!

  • Im vietnamese , and you speak pretty good! You're not a vietnamese wannabe!

  • Speak faster but other then that, it was really nice

  • hay quá =))

  • :)) ban nay` nói buồn cười quá

  • you did a good job with the vietnamese. i could understnd everything u said.

  • you did good

  • @SlavicGirl90 oh please, german sounds way funnier. Koch!!

  • Good job, baby! Bitch slap those who like insulting you for wanting to learn another language. I get people calling me a "banana" , and I just give them the finger. People are so stupid and so arrogant! It's even funnier when Vietnamese people think they are noble when they are not. My half-sister is an aristocrat whose lineage dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Even she doesn't act foolish.

  • do u understand the proverb of vietnamese " Phong ba bão táp không bằng ngữ pháp Việt Nam" ? :D Good Luck

  • I to am white and am starting well trying to learn Vietnamese. I have quite a bit of Vietnamese friends, so I understand what you mean. Good luck to you!

  • you speak quite good, but sound like an old man in Vietnam XD

  • @lamquangnhat

I suspect he learns from a old viet man by hanging out at a bar speaking with the bathroom cleaner

  • wow ur vietnamese is pretty damn good

  • Haha! I love how you're making an effort to learn my language! I understand that for Americans its difficult to pronounce the wierdness of viet. :P

But you are doing really well for only 4 months! Some of the words you get right on! Most are eh... But you'll get the hang of it. :)

My boyfriend is a whitey and he really wants to learn Viet because i speak it, but he's afraid of sounding like an idiot. I'm gonna show him this vid and inspire him to work hard like you. :) Cool! xD

  • @muzik14craze Gee thanks Brandy... =P

  • good job! everyone is the same way when they first learn a new language! you will get there. it would probably help if you were exposed to people who speak vietnamese. perhaps travel to vietnam?

  • @BabiVyXxX Or California lol

  • Good job! Very impressive :) Your pronunciations are a little off, so I would try to listen to more Vietnamese to try to pick up the accent. Since you're good at reading and writing, read more and I'm sure your accent will improve. Your best pronunciation was of the food words haha. For the "th" sound, try pronouncing it like "tuh". The sound is more aspirated and less hard (like the 1st t in total). Thich almost like "tick" without the hard k. Message me if you'd like some help :)

  • Vietnamese wannabe. Haha just kidding man that was great!

  • hahaha cool!

  • wow dude that was really good even tho. it first time i can clearly understands it

and YEAH BOY cha do is my favorite i will THUMP UP FOR THAT

  • hi

not bad at all, Keep it up, just like me when I speak English ( I am Vietnamese) lol, as long as people understand what you are saying. Its always better to know more than 1 language.

  • Vietnam is such a beautiful country!!! ^^ But I was so surprised to see that almost everyone there can speak a degree of English.

  • I get a smile every time I see a white guy speak Vietnamese. You can order at the restaurant no problem man. Thumbs Up.

  • @excthour

That's because you're a white worshipping piece of shit. That "smile" white people get when they see a chink like you speaking English is of them making fun of you and wondering why you haven't delivered their chicken chow mein

  • @takadi I don't think you understand what Excthour is saying..

  • @takadi You are so profoundly retarded. -_-

  • Yay!!! Standing Ovation man! You're way better than my friends! Keep it Up! 100% supoort from me ! ^_^

  • nice try!!!!

  • LOL hell yea. white dude!!! <3

  • You say spring rolls very well. lol, that was good ! I'm Viet btw.

  • That was really good for a beginner, I am trying to learn spanish so I know how it feels to learn a new language.

  • 2:42 thats when he starts to actually speak it

  • @binan1 since you can speak english, spanish shouldnt be too terribly hard for you..

  • At First The Display Picture I Thought it Was Mac Miller

  • i speak 6 languages

  • @DragonGodOFAndy

Russian, spanish, english, german. Trying to pick up Vietnamese now.

  • Hahaha understandable (most part)

  • Very good, keep it up Dan and pay no attention to thoese ignorance. I am a Vietnamese but learing Spanish and they also call me Hispanic wanna be.

  • dep trai! (: hahaha

  • LOL i found it hilarious to hear foreign people speaking vietnamese. they just can't use the intonation right!

  • dude keep up the good work, it's so great that you would actually put time to study Vietnamese! i am Vietnamese and i can understand how hard it must have been to study a whole new language, because i've had and still have difficulties speaking English! so i guess practice makes everything perfect

  • I have this question. Have you ever feel left out in your Vietnamese group just because they usually speak Vietnamese? I really LOVE this video. Don't worry about the accent. My cousins who born in America even have stronger accent than yours. I understand what you said without looking up the subtitle :D Keeping up your passion of studying other cultures and language. I know that you're not Viet-wanna be :D

  • wooooooow so goooooood you!!

  • Comment removed

  • omg, you speak vietnamese :)) LOL so cute <3 i really love how the way the foreign speak vietnamese. Very proud and so exciting. Keep trying, you can do it <3 I've a problem with Grammar English, too :))

  • Bạn đang làm rất lớn để có màu trắng.Tôi chỉ có 25% và nói chuyện với nó và tôi mười tuổi: D

  • toi hoc tieng Viet hehehe...hey Viet pronunciation is similar to French...just give it a try man ^ ^luv ya

  • your awesome :) keep it up <3

  • hahaha youre sooo cute seems like A LOT of effort was put into this <3

  • dude, the americanized viets are harsh and all hoes!!! don't listen to them, they're white washed! do what you do :)

  • @Diholyy Hey, they're not that bad, dude! Not all Vietnamese people living in the US are Americanized, some of them still keep their culture, their language even though they don't master it well as original Vietnameses do. Don't blame them.

  • you pronounce pho correctly!

  • u shud said, xin chao cac ban. Toi bay gio la muoi tam tuoi. Toi o ben nuoc my, New Jersey. Toi biet noi tieng vietnam nhung ma toi con xa. Toi muon goi phim.

Toi chan qua means ur fed up/ tired.

the pronunciation is gud 4 a foreigner but it still needs alot of tongue twisting 2 fully have it right.

  • @Annamyllie I don't think this suggestion would be helpful. What he's said is better. Although I can understand if you say so but it's not very smooth. Delete some unnecessary words. "Tôi mười tám tuổi" (not "tôi bây giờ là mười tám tuổi"); "tôi ở Mỹ, bang New Jersey" or "Tôi ở bên Mỹ, bang New Jersey" ("bang" means "state");

Vietnamese is not only about pronouncing correctly but also about how you use the words. Vietnamese vocabulary is complicated.

  • you sounded cute!!! lol good job for trying!

  • you are soooooooooooo ugly!

  • I know how you feel. I went through the same things trying to learn a little bit of Filipino Tagalog. American Filipinos would snicker at me because I may have mixed up a sentance or something.

Dont let it get you down, learning a language is a great experience and something you should always be proud of.

    Good luck!

  • Good effort brother. Keep it up

  • I'm happy when knowing foreigner like u want to learn Vietnamese. Try your best :x

    Fighting :X

  • Wow your such an inspiration for me to learn more. I'm white and I love learning languages also as a hobby. Thankfully my school offers free Rosetta stone and I'm currently learning Vietnamese too. My boyfriend is Vietnamese and I would love to speak with his parents more. Keep up the good work, your doing so well!

  • im viet and i cant read or write but i can talk a little

  • your*

  • Good job for learning Viet so quickly :) i myself am Viet and have been speaking before i even knew what english was XD and i still can barely read and write XD

Just a tip when you're trying to say "thich" is actually sounds more like "thit" than "thiCH"

Again well done though, you're speaking wasn't that bad :)

  • You're not a wannabe, and even if u r, its okay, becuze im a Korean wannabe (and i'm actually Viet) And ur really pronouncing it right, except the "th" "u" and the accent marks, and ur acccent. I think you should really focus mor on the accents, because how you pronounce it in english is wAy different from Viet(; Cảm ơn bạn đã thừa nhận ngôn ngữ Tiếng Việt. And, please next time you do subtitles, can you put the marks, so its easier for me to make out what they say? Cảm ơn!

  • you speak so funny :))

  • Dude, you're not that bad!

  • haha great work man. good to see your interest in the language of my culture. not being harsh or critical or anything but i just thought it would be funny to mention in case any one else hasnt mentioned it before that your pronunciation of the word thich was actually the word thit which would've meant, "I am meat" haha. well any way, i thought it was a good job and keep it up!.
