My kids had seizures like this too. They were diagnosed with benign famial neonatal seizures. I started a Facebook group for it. Just search for BFNS.
Hello my daughter is 4 weeks old and i brought her to the hospital today i think she is having seizures kinda looks like this but my daughter goes rightt redd in the face and kinda stops breathing did that ahppen to your baby ??
The biggest and strongest suggestion I can give you is to try to catch an episode on video to show your doctor. Our daughter never stopped breathing (thank goodness).
Our daughter is now almost 2.5 years old. She does have delays in her development but no specialist has been able to tell us why.
I'm sorry I don't have more answers for you. Please let me know how she does. I know that this is scary and if you ever want to talk or have other questions, please let me know
@pocastriped This happened to my baby 11 years ago and doctors have called me crazy!!! Well I finally got them to do an eeg and she has epilepsy!!! All these years we could have had her on medicine so that she could have grown up normally instead of needing special education!!! Film it if you can! Take your baby to the doctor and do not stop till you get answers!!!
She will be 2 years old next month. Thankfully she was able to be weaned off her medications and has since been seizure free. She does however have delays in her development and no one knows exactly why.
I can help you out and ask you if the mother was taking cocaine when she was pregnate, that is known to form epilepsy, other then that you could be born with it, or your family has a history with epilepsy.
I have seizures too, i'm going to be admitted to children's hospital for a 2nd seizure test. i've already had a 1st seizure test i think it was june. but this time i'm having another seizure test done sometime in may
my son is 1 month old and has been having the same kind of seizures he is on clonazepam and it is not working he has only been home for 2 weeks and the test have came back normal except 1 abnormal eeg. we have no idea what is causing them. i hope your baby is doing well
Sorry it's taken so long to replay. I hope your son is doing well. Our daughter now appears to have a form of mitochondrial myopathy. Perhaps it's something you should look into? I hope everything works out.
Hello. My son Kadyn has siezures. He is 17 months old, was born with Severe Congenital Hydrocephalus, and a siezure disorder. He has all sorts of different seizures. The only thing is, his will last up to 2 hours...even with treatment. When he goes into a siezure it takes over his whole body. We end up in the Er everytime. He is on 3 siezure medications to help control them. My best wishes
Hi there. Thanks for asking. She was only 6 weeks old at the time and had not had any vaccinations at all. So far all the tests have come back normal (EEG, CAT scan, MRI, genetic tests) and we still don't know what's caused it.
what meds was the baby on?they have my daughter on phenybarbitol 2 times a day please let me know how ur baby does,im concerned for urs, mine and all children..god bless..
I can't really say if she's grown out of it. She has been on seizure medication since last November which thankfully has been working. We actually, as of yesterday, have started weaning her off of her medication so only time will tell if she will have them again. I'm sorry that that might not be much help. I hope your baby is doing ok and please keep me posted as to how he/she is doing. Thanks

No, there was no cocaine use and there is no history of epilepsy. It appears now (1.5 years later) that it is a form of mitochondrial myopathy
