I've been to Europe, Turkey, Mexio, all over the US, Maine, Washington, Arizona, Florida.. Nothing i've seen compares to Michigan. It really is the most beautiful state ...except the G**Da* winters. And you must be crazy if that bridge doesnt get you excited about being "up north"...
@jeffhardyfreak22 Some people would say that it's the voice of the bridge. I've been on a few turntable and draw bridges where the sound changed pitch slightly when sections of the grates had been replaced.
Sorry for the headache - It has been updated. It was the town of Mackinaw that got me on this one. They put on the "Annual Mackinaw Memorial Bridge Race"
@iowndisciti ..........Huron and Michigan meet there...Superior is nowhere near the straits......Lake Huron is East of the bridge, Lake MI to the West.
@iowndisciti : You are wrong. I live in Michigan, so I would know this. Lake Superior is does not meet at the Mackinac Bridge. It is where Lake Huron, right of the bridge, meets with Lake Michigan, left of the bridge. Lake Superior is north.
When we were kids going up nprth and over the bridge my dad had taken the back seats out of the van and there were holes in the floorboard...well, needless to say, we use to look down throught the holes and the grated road and see the water! cool. huh?
Amazing bridge! I've crossed it many of times from Appleton to Saginaw over the past 25 years. Its beauty is breath takeing both from the shorelines and on it, day or night, summer or winter. I recall my oldest daughter seeing it for the first time saying,"UpUpUp downdowndown upupup downdowndown" She was three at that time, and now ten, She still says that! I would love to walk over it some day. Thats one to add to the "Bucket list".
This video is amazing. I personally love how the Mackinaw Bride looks over any period of time, including sunrises, sunsets, even when the water is frozen over beneithe it.

Beautiful state especially in the UP,but the state economy isn't that good.

Hehe you know they are outsiders when they pronounce it Mackinac.
psycofloyd 7 months ago
@psycofloyd If they pronounce the bridge like Mackinac, or spell it like Mackinaw, you know they're not Michiganders.

Back in the 70's, I had a girlfriend who gave me head while we drove across the bridge.
Ahh, memories...

Nice setting. The video is pretty shaky. Consider running it thru a deshaker software and the results will come out great

Okay, I haven't been over the Mac since high school back in the 70's, are the center lanes still just grating?
airdriver 2 years ago
It will always be grating because it helps the bridge flex and drain water

Yes....kinda freaky to drive on them.

My wife and I left our hearts in Mackinaw City,MI as well as the island when we were on our honeymoon in 1982. We took our kids here ten years later.
We miss the magic of Mackinac.. I wish we can both re-kindle the flame once again here someday!
