yea but her talent wasn't realized until she lost her sight in a car accident - so now, do you still really want to have the talent she has - there's always a price to pay
@KasiaGliwski I always liked Tom Lehrer's line when he was in his thirties: "It's a sobering thought that when Mozart was my age, he'd been dead for four years!"
Alway loved this classic tune, but Melody strips it from its judygarlandy, X-massy flavour, and gives it the stature of an adult yet sweet instant classic....
im watching her now on this morning, she is just great, i dont usually like jazz but she is brill, and her version of over the rainbow is the best i have heard it.
I wasn't sure about this the first time I heard it, but bought the CD and now I love the upbeat tempo. Melody Gardot has basically put a positive spin on a mellow old classic. Instead of complaining "why oh why can't I", she is in effect saying "but why not?... I can do anything if I believe in myself". I love the positive message it gives out... a true reflection of herself and all that she has achieved in spite of disability.
love it - what an amazing rendition of the song!

Not crazy about the changes to the melody--what happened to that octave leap?--but despite that, she's my favorite "new" singer.

@masalanyc She's not blind. She has a sensitivity to light, hence the dark galsses.
