Legion, the Geth, wears a part of Shepards N7 armor. Its what made everyone think he was dead but I think he gets it from the beginning when the Normandy is destroyed and Shep gets hurt. Dunno just a guess to how he gets it

It is supposed to consider the fact that you are at a certain level and that you are a renegade/paragon etc. I guess its just the way people will treat you in the game is affected. I dunno XD

What I heard, it was a savegame that gets made when you reach the end or make one of the final decisions. Not sure where it falls exactly, but I think you have to complete the game for it to count that career.

Every time you complete the final battle and choose the fate of the galaxy a save file gets made. So even if you save right before the last boss and beat the game 5 times, you will have 5 save files XD

ull start from the beginning(lvl 1, crappy gear), but if u really pimped out ur character in the first one, u will get some benefits in the second one. Apparently, there is a story behind Shepard's degrading back to lvl 1, but it hasnt been revealed.

part of the fun of RPGs is advancement, so given that all the folks who've played will be at widely different levels and gear and Bioware doesn't seem like the kind of group that would scale their new game to fit everyone. So, I'm not sure how they compensate you but like people are saying, there's a story reason that they have for bumping everyone down a peg or ten. Also, since the skill system has changed it wouldn't be fair to those who poured skill points into skills no longer being used.

I didn't realize they were lowering them, but maybe this is the better of the two options, at least until they figure out how to make random world generation a bit more interesting and different each time.

I'm pretty sure you will play as Shephard regardless if you've played ME1 or not. if you haven't, than there is just an intro. at the beginning to get you up to speed. but you are still Shep.

there is however the possibility of him/her dying later in the game. If you so wish.

The way I see it, that if you have save files from ME1 he will be very much alive and you will be able to continue the story with that very same character, but on the other hand, if you haven't played ME1 and dont have any save files, Shepard will be dead in the beginning of ME2 and you'll have to create a whole new character.

tbh if you dont have a ME1 file, they wouldn't punish you by not allowing you to play as Shepard, it would ruin sales too.

I just think that the story will continue like you had ME1 but the consquences that you could potentially have had from ME1 would not occur. Instead you would begin from a neutral stance.

i dont see how they will follow up mass effect 1 because you can change a lot based on what you do. i mean, will mass effect 2 pull from your mass effect 1 game memory to start up? because it will change which characters are still alive (kaidan, ash, and wrex) and even what the council and citadel space is like...any thoughts?

Yeah, if you check out, say, Xbox magazine for this month (it's got a big feature on Mass Effect 2) they say that your choices in the Last Game will have still happened when Mass Effect Comes around - play as your old character too.

And not just who lived or died, your skills and morality... makes you wonder how the Relationship with whatever Love intrest you choose will be after the fact, doesn't it?
