hey there i have a custom synth box myself. 74C14 chip is pretty cool to play with. i use all 6 oscillators to 2 outputs and volume control for each output, each osc has a pot a photocell and a No pushbutton.. havent thought about switching in other caps, in my eyr sore video its just 3 osc, new prototype coming soon

Nic Collins's book is really helpful to get started. It's called "Handmade Electronic Music: The Art of Hardware Hacking." There's even some videos of my self-built springboard instrument on the DVD that comes with it.
