NBA 2K11: Sixers at Knicks Elton Brand is Back

You need to do more Knicks breakdowns. They make me hate D'Antoni even more. And also, i doubt he's losing any sleep over these. They just had a terrible game against Milwaukee tonight. The players got a lot of talent, and no way to use it since all they do is shoot. I can't help but blame the coach.

Having a bad back makes you a liability on defense but so far this year Felton and Douglas hounding the ball in the backcourt has been a bright spot for the knicks. This game was definitely the worst representation for the coach to breakdown. This was there worst defensive effort all year.

@strat100ful Let's hope their next game is better defensively - I really like Toney Douglas and Wilson Chandler. Even if it was their worst effort, their record reflects some bad defensive efforts wouldn't you say?

He hurt it in the game where he torched Wall and Arenas for 20 points 10 assists and 5 rebounds. I understand that as long as you are on the court you are open to criticism but it would be nice to give people a backstory.

Felton was hurt in this game. He tweaked his back. You should have known coach. If you were at the game you saw hime getting treatment on the sidelines

Brand doesn't belong in Philly and Baron doesn't belong in LA. At least not on the Clippers. He hasn't been able to get used to it. Maybe the Knicks.

I've never been a Felton fan, and between Chicago with Boozer and NY with Felton, two teams I wanted the best for who basically gave away money just to say they made moves this summer. Boozer will not take the Bulls anywhere they couldn't already go. And Felton is in no way taking an up hill climbing team with lack of experience deep into the playoffs. They should trade Felton, but I doubt that will happen because of pride in making the decision (dumb one) to sign him in the first place.

@strat100ful @LoneshotHero I have not seen Felton much at all in his career after UNC - but at least for this game, he really hurt his team with his defensive effort. Maybe he's been better the other 5 games, but their record hasn't reflected that they're playing well as a team, and it could be his defense is a part of it.

@strat100ful I have do doubts he can play well, but it's a bad signing for a team that was supposed to make big moves this summer. If they got him for less and he came off the bench backing up a better guard then it would be great. But Felton isn't going to do anything in a playoff game.

I guess actually getting to the playoffs would be an achievement in itself though for the Knicks when you consider the last few years.

Hey Coach Nick, can you do a Nets breakdown? They're my favorite team, and I think that they have much more fluidity on offense this year(mainly bc of Lopez's post presence with an array of outside shooters), but their defense still needs much improvement.

@kabalcage What people seem to forget about the Thunder is that they are on pace to match last season's win-loss record. As the same this season, the Thunder were 3-3 last season as well.

In fact, they went 14-14 towards the end of December. They ended their season with a 50-32 record, which isn't bad at all considering their poor start (it's bad if you understand that they got the 8th seed in the west with that record).

So my advise is to not be discouraged by their record.

@bballbreakdown I wouldn't blame Dunleavy on this one. Brand's agent made it pretty clear to the team that Brand had no desire to join any other team. In fact, Dunleavy was duped into believing that Brand was advising Davis to sign a contract with the Clippers so that he (Brand) could re-sign at a cheaper rate.

As seen, things didn't pan out that way. With his dealings with the Clippers, Brand (and his agent) earn this era's Benedict Arnold award.

@Saiyangohan Well, in a vacuum, that scenario makes sense. But you've gotta be smarter than that and eliminate that as a possibility - especially with a player like Baron. It's not like they would've gotten Bosh had LBJ not signed with them - it was a tenuous signing at best, and without Brand, a colossal mistake.

@bballbreakdown No, I think you're right on the money about Felton. His current average match up perfectly well with his career average.

Technically, he's having his best season. He's averaging more assists (7.8), slightly better FT% (.857), points (14.7), steals (2.7), and field goals (5.5) per game this season. However, obviously, this doesn't account for his horrible defense, and poor decision making. He's yet to show any improvement over his years in Charlotte.

I still don't understand why Brand left the Clippers. At the time he opted out, Baron Davis decided to join up under the assumption that Brand would re-sign (reportedly he told him he would re-sign).

It's not as if the Clippers would not have payed Brand his desired amount. Even knowing Sterling, he would have payed Brand.

@Saiyangohan Dunleavy is an idiot. He should never have signed Baron unless Elton Brand was sitting in the room signing at the same time. Baron got lucky he was on a short hot streak - he's as bad as Felton on defense most of the time.

@Numba1Bawla @bballbreakdown I agree with you Coach Nick. Farmar signed a 3 year, $12 mil contract while Felton signed a 2 year, $15 mil contract. Farmar would have been a better fit and would have cost the Knicks a lot less.

In the end, I imagine it had to do with consistency. The Knicks probably believed that Felton could take on the heavy minutes (and produce more), while Farmar couldn't.

@ArmoredFelix A lot of NBA coaches I talk to also shake their head that guys get to that level and aren't completely intense all the time. I think Dean Smith retired when he did because even at UNC, guys like Sheed wouldn't listen and wouldn't push themselves the way Worthy and Jordan did...

I love this channel so much! There's always a video on what I'm thinking about. Brand is definitely back to his normal self and I think the only reason the Knicks even signed Felton was to use some of their cap space so their 2 years of rebuilding didn't seem like a complete failure.

It's really great to see Brand back to somehing close to his old self. This guy is a forgotten star in this league. He is not that old, so he should still be able to play at a high level. Some players never come back to the level they once played before a major injury at like T-Mac, Zo, Grant Hill, Penny, C-Webb, Antonio McDyess KG and AI. What they all had in cummon was that they were at least 30 when they went down. It's nearly impossible to get back in tip to shape once you enter the 30's
