went there earlier this week, much prefer the red trail. the black one just got anoying...just constant bumps, and not like pump ones...just painful, lol. the beast was a good laugh though...
i did this last weekend, my little step brother lost control going down some steep rocks and ended up in a thorn bush.. (he should invest in better brakes!) i thought it was brilliant, the rest of the black trail should be like it. suggested for 15 years+.. my step brother is 8 and he did all of it non stop on a stupid kids bike.. Very nice adrenaline rush :))))
lol, im trying for the first time tomorrow. Blatently gonna smack into a tree or something! Hats off to ya for making it all the way down! Were you holding a camera then or was it strapped to you?
Everyone has different bike skills and Thetford is definately an XC haven but doesn't push riders much technically except for a couple of bomb holes and this short singletrack section (The Beast). Any XC rider who goes to a big trail centre like Glentress will soon see limitations in their riding skills. My advice to all XC riders: Get yourselves to more trail centres in Wales and Scotland, or failing that to Chicksands in Bedfordshire to practise riding skills.
I think you go a different way to me at the end, once you have passed the steep rocky bit (its like a set of steps made from rock)go left and straigh for about 10 seconds, then there is 3 exits to choose from. one is just like the rest of the beast, one has about 3 dirt jumps in it and one has a drop off. you can get good air of the jumps its a lot of fun give them a try.
I did the whole of The Beast today without using my brakes! It was pretty funny! :)

Go faster and don't be scared to fall off it might a few times but you'll learn from it.

The beast rules, how much air can u get off the jump at the bottom. I get about 4ft.
