The twisted logic of the pro-abortion crowd stems from the fraudulent term "reproductive rights." They claim, correctly, that they have the right to reproduce---to decide to have children---but then assert, incorrectly, that this also means they have an equal right to terminate that child 's existence once conceived. They fail utterly to comprehend the fact that the fetus is a separate human being and that having it within their bodies does not give them the right to kill this other person.

people forget that abortion is also, and perhaps more importantly, an issue of reproductive rights. It's EASY to use this graphic image of unborn fetuses and such but that is honestly unrealistic and undermines the life and the decisions of the mother.

the choice to have a baby is the right of a woman, as is the right to NOT have a baby.

We are living in the 21st century. oppressing a woman's reproductive rights is just a contemporary form of sexism and ignorance.

@staylor09 "Reproductive rights" is a fraudulent term designed to side-step the fundamental issue of a person's right to live. If I give you a gift of a new car, I cannot decide to take it back a year later. Once you have created a new life, given that precious gift to another person, you cannot take it back either. What you fail to comprehend is that it is ANOTHER SEPARATE PERSON and not just something inside your body. You don't have the "right" to kill that person at your convenience.

Pro-choice advocates insist that because a fetus cannot live on its own that it is merely a part of a woman's body, thus giving her the right to destroy it at will. But the real relevant questions are: 'is the 9 months in the womb a part of the human life cycle? Could any of us exist without it?' Clearly 'yes' and 'no' are the answers. So if it is an essential part of the human life cycle, is it not the same thing to snuff out a life at any time from conception onward?

How far back do you want to go? What about the hormonal reactions we have when we see the opposite sex? What of our mating rituals? But I would love for Baumgardner to answer when she thinks life begins. I think it was quiet the copout to speak about this issue and not say way prochoice is a right.

@chadpratch How far back do I want to go? In one word: Conception. That's where a human life begins. Sperm and egg meet and create a new life. Separately the sperm and the egg are not independent beings destined to have lives of their own. Does that answer your question......?

You explained the process but yet have not explained so called "destiny." You see this is exactly why I said how far you want to go back. Is it not the destiny for the sperm and the egg to meet and thus create an organism/life? Now that stupid argument aside and religion aside as well. I would probably agree that abortions need to be looked into.

Probably not. I'm guessing it's too much for you to wrap your mind around. Anyway, that's the starting point. That's where the sperm and the egg become people. Up until that point you can kill all the sperm or eggs you want and you haven't aborted a human life. I know, you're hopelessly lost.

I use what is called an argument with points that are then explained, referenced and concretized. I understand what conception means but do you understand that this problem of life destiny is a lot harder then you have presupposed? For example if I masturbate those sperm die and don't meet with an egg to conceive a life. So would that not be a negation of a potential life?

Do you know what deductive reasoning is? It makes for a harder more strenuous life of inquirer but it is an important aspect to providing definitive answers that are very hard to refute. Your one sentence answers are very appealing in that they are easy and don't take much brain work to agree with but you have not yet actually understood or responded to my questions.

pre-determinism is a very hard problem that you can't just sweep under the blanket of ignorance. With that in mind you have to then explain WHY the spark of conception is the point of no return. Conception is a great start but what makes conception the point where we cannot abort? You cannot use your simple point that "Up until that point you can kill all the sperm or eggs you want and you haven't aborted a human life." That's an objective law? Explain why that is law...

13 weeks or 3 months: The fetus is about 3 inches long and weighs about an ounce. Fingernails and bones can be seen. Over 90% of all abortions are performed before this stage. No WTF is going on with the 10% and who the fuck is doing those abortions. The brain begins to develop after this stage WTF. @chadpratch Quantifying the fetus by referring to its size or development is to miss the entire point. During the first 13 weeks (or the first 13 days) this is still a human being at the beginning of the human life cycle. If you deleted that phase of the life cycle none of us would be here. It is as essential to our existence as any other 13 weeks or 13 days in our lives. And, yes, adoption is an option and there are millions of willing potential adoptive parents out there waiting to do so.

@staylor09 There is a fraudulent and misguided use of the term "reproductive rights" being employed here. When conceiving a child the term "reproduction" is valid. When talking about killing that child it is not. It is as if you claim the generally accepted right to own and drive a car and extend that to mean that you have the right to crash that car into anything you want in order to destroy it also. The fetus is a human being in an early stage of our life cycle and deserves our protection.

Therefore to be safe we should assume that it begins at the earliest stage, conception. Thus abortion becomes murder. It am as feminist and leftist as one can get but I am not willing to sacrifice life for economics. We should make abortion illegal and fund the shit out of health care, schools, and welfare. This would be a two part bill that will satisfy conservative because of the abortion ban and liberals because of social programs that create jobs.

Not really Im a conservative, & even though Im one of few that support public health care, & welfare,(to a degree) very few conservatives do. I mean, I'm pro life, & do view abortion as murder, like most of my right-wing counterparts, but thats only one issue. Myself, when it comes to welfare, I'd reather see people get the tools to create their own jobs, such as industrial vehicals/equiptment ect. to use rather than a check, that they're gonna come 2 depend on. But thats just my opinion.
