The defender has every right to go for the ball. It doesn't matter if the offensive guy runs into the defender (which is what happened) when the defender is fixing to catch the ball. It's offensive pass interference when the WR intentionally tries to prohibit the DB from catching the ball. A B.S. no call. It was also offensive PI when the Gator guy pulled the DB down with his arms as the DB was fixing to INT the ball but it was called defensive PI. What B.S.
There was no offensive pass interference, here, as the defender impeded the movement of the offensive player with the ball in the air. At best, it's a "no call," but appropriate judgment was used with professional rule interpretation. In this case, the concept of calling this on the offensive player is, well, "offensive."

As a Razorback that was able to attend the FL game, I was looking forward to watching the Razorbacks play. As a football fan,I was looking forward to watching Tebow play...Well, I came away being super impressed with our defense. On a lot of plays they made him look like an ordinary quarterback scrambling to find a play before being sacked.
Would love to have seen the score without these bad calls by the refs...either way,I walked away as a PROUD RAZORBACK!!

It looked like a blowout by the score, but if you look at the key plays that were blown it shifted the momentum in the favor of FSU. Arky didn't get hosed. That PI call was the correct call, the PF was debatable. Bottom line is Arky got 4 fumbles, missed 2 FG's and was 3 for 15 on 3rd down conversions. If they had taken catre of business no 4th quarter officials calls would've mattered. The Gators made the plays down the stretch and the Hogs didn't.

Rush for no gain gets a phantom PF call when #96 was just protecting himself from a cheap shot. Then the OPI that prevented a probable interception to keep the game tied with 1:07 left doesn't get called. Arkansas missed some opportunities, but the officiating tilted the game in the fourth quarter and proved too much for Arkansas to overcome. I hope the SEC does something.

As long as there is a possibility for an interception (which there was), and the defender is facing the ball, then he has just as much right to that ground as the receiver does - requiring that the defensive back gets there legally, which he did. Once he has established even a motion position, then there can be offensive pass interference.

He is immediately ran through by the receiver. And that phrase, "ran through," is the key terminology. Stewart had position, the receiver "ran through" him, and thus the receiver gained an illegal advantage by preventing the interception.

The defender has every right to go for the ball. It doesn't matter if the offensive guy runs into the defender (which is what happened) when the defender is fixing to catch the ball. It's offensive pass interference when the WR intentionally tries to prohibit the DB from catching the ball. A B.S. no call. It was also offensive PI when the Gator guy pulled the DB down with his arms as the DB was fixing to INT the ball but it was called defensive PI. What B.S.

There was no offensive pass interference, here, as the defender impeded the movement of the offensive player with the ball in the air. At best, it's a "no call," but appropriate judgment was used with professional rule interpretation. In this case, the concept of calling this on the offensive player is, well, "offensive."

As a Razorback that was able to attend the FL game, I was looking forward to watching the Razorbacks play. As a football fan,I was looking forward to watching Tebow play...Well, I came away being super impressed with our defense. On a lot of plays they made him look like an ordinary quarterback scrambling to find a play before being sacked.
Would love to have seen the score without these bad calls by the refs...either way,I walked away as a PROUD RAZORBACK!!

Now I understand Gator fans are gonna talk cause Arkansas did blow it but Florida had a lot of help with the officials. 3 horrible calls changed the game. I understand Tejad missed clutch field goals but the game was still up in the air when all these penaltys were called and when this no call was not called. You got lucky Florida. Easy as that. It looked like a blowout by the score, but if you look at the key plays that were blown it shifted the momentum in the favor of FSU. Arky didn't get hosed. That PI call was the correct call, the PF was debatable. Bottom line is Arky got 4 fumbles, missed 2 FG's and was 3 for 15 on 3rd down conversions. If they had taken catre of business no 4th quarter officials calls would've mattered. The Gators made the plays down the stretch and the Hogs didn't.

Gators made the plays? Looked like the refs gave them yards to me. Pass broken up in the end zone gets called PI. Rush for no gain gets a phantom PF call when #96 was just protecting himself from a cheap shot. Then the OPI that prevented a probable interception to keep the game tied with 1:07 left doesn't get called. Arkansas missed some opportunities, but the officiating tilted the game in the fourth quarter and proved too much for Arkansas to overcome. I hope the SEC does something.

The path to the ball- it was underthrown its not stewarts fault the reciever would have had to run threw him to get back to the underthrown pass by a poor passing qb. in reality no one has the right to get run threw simply because a ball is underthrown. furthermore he turned around and looked to intercept the ball was underthrown that is why it was incomplete not being impeded or PI.

Hey, arslp, I am very great at what I do, except for baseball; I hate baseball. And by the way, I am saying to zekeulrey that Arkansas did get screwed.... Arkansas was royally screwed. Wrong. Sorry, man (I respectfully presume), but both players have a right to the ball. As long as there is a possibility for an interception (which there was), and the defender is facing the ball, then he has just as much right to that ground as the receiver does - requiring that the defensive back gets there legally, which he did. Once he has established even a motion position, then there can be offensive pass interference.
THAT, kind sir, is THE RULE. No further discussion is necessary.

Respectfully, you are well off in both your analysis of the play AND the rule. Primarily, in that the DB did not, in fact, get there legally: he impeded the offensive player's progress whilst the ball was in the air (i.e., committed a rightfully flagged infraction). You are correct in that no further discussion is necessary, the correct -- what occurred -- call is self-evident.

Respectfully to you, too, but look at :19 in the video above. Stewart is already in position - facing the ball and moving himself to the spot of where the ball is going to come down.
Stewart now has primary position to receive the pass.
He is immediately ran through by the receiver. And that phrase, "ran through," is the key terminology. Stewart had position, the receiver "ran through" him, and thus the receiver gained an illegal advantage by preventing the interception.

"Moving." Not, "in position." With the ball in the air, Stewart impeded the offensive player's path to the ball. By rule, that is defensive pass interference. :)

Hey, I graduated from ARKANSAS. This was -- by rule and definition -- the correct call. If you impede the offensive player's progress while the ball is in the air, you have committed said infraction. This is SIMPLE.

If you actually watched the video, you would observe the offensive receiver IMPEDING on the defensive player who is about to intercept the ball. It's where the ball is, not who collided with who. @RMphan Clearly, you do not understand the rules and are an apologist. The ball is in the air and the offensive player is in his route: when there is a collision caused by the defensive player. This -- in all cases -- is DEFENSIVE pass interference. You're right, it is, to a degree, where the ball is: offensive pass interference possibility begins at the snap, defensive when the ball is in the air. The ball is in the air and the defender initiated contact. DEFENSIVE INTERFERENCE.

@zekeulrey The only thing that's clear here is how deep the hole you're digging yourself has become. The defender CAN indeed impede on a receiver if he plays the ball and is in position to make an interception. The offensive receiver cannot stop the defensive player from making the interception by pushing or making contact on the back of the defender. It's very clearly written in the NCAA rulebook, which you obviously have not read. Both Gary Danielson and the SEC disagree with you. Shoo, troll.
