  • one of the best boss battle themes from the game series... (in my top 10)

  • @BoyFromFarEast it just requires patience, wait for it to show its weak spot, thats how i died over 9000 times. i went too fast xD

  • Boss was annoying but easy as heck, but the song made me nervous...

  • This boss was annoying yet easy.

  • @BoyFromFarEast oh my god i know i died so many times hahahahaha jk jk

  • *hits infinite loop button*

...wait. There IS no loop button!!!!

    YOUTUBE D:<

  • lol i beat this guy on my first try, but he was annoying a fuck

  • in batlle: FUCK, im frozed, damn!! not the roll attack, fuck, fuck, fuck,.

after the battle: .... Piece of cake

  • So many rocks so much death:(

  • KLANG!

    -All abilities lost-

  • @GThomas1502 Samus: FUUUUUUUUUU- Ah, I'm used to by now -_-

  • How doesn't remember that Rock? ¡PLONK!

  • Thardus rocks my world!

  • do this whole fight with just the power beam on veteran mode i did it was pretty fun i might add screw the powerful stuff i want a rush i wanna be almost dead by the end the rush of knowing your death is but a energy tank away in metroid gets my blood pumping am i right!?

  • I never dodged a single one of this guys attacks

  • 2 words: super missiles

  • @Darkuaza106 Another 4 words, and 1 symbol, my friend:

    Thermal Visor

    &

    Wave Beam

  • @IvoryGecko1993 I can top that. 46 letters, 6 spaces, 2 periods, and one epic exclamation point:

Early version. Awesome Glitching. Freaking PLASMA BEAM!

  • thardus was not so hard even flaaghra was more annoying

  • Basthardus :D

  • @GlamFasheeon Rethardus :D

  • The best strategy for this boss is to jump up onto one of the rock walls, and camp there, wait for it to come to you.

  • @BoyFromFarEast ...I beat this guy with no problems on my last playthrough of this game (which was only my 2nd). I was surprised at how much easier this game seemed to be on the second playthrough compared to the first.

  • Killer golems must die!

  • Wii Controls was awesome for this game! I really hope they don't use the Wii U-controller if they make another Metroid FPS. The Wiimote was perfect for a shooter game - as far as console controls go.

  • god i HATED that rolling attack

  • @magnetchill I always thought it was completly unavoidable... But then I remembered the Boost Ball.

  • The Parasite Queen killed me the most. But Thardus was pretty much enjoying himself when he was about to kill me.

  • @BoyFromFarEast Yeah, but Omega Pirate was the worst in that game.

Oh I'm vulnerable now BETTER CALL DOWN MY GUARDS WHO CAN ONLY BE KILLED BY SPECIFIC BEAMS!

  • retro studios please come back T_T

  • Hard Mode.

Alright, let me switch to my visor, FUCK FROZEN, okay get out thermal and DAMMIT STOP OVERLOADING normal visor again OH SHIT HES GONANARUN ME OV-- *dead*

  • @LckeStudios I share your pain. -__-

  • @BoyFromFarEast no... it was easy...it was harder to get there

  • Thardus..one of the hardest and impressive boss of the game mainly in hard mode.

  • @SilverBlacksky the most harder boss of all the game was the omega pirate...

  • @SSBFWU Omega is very strong because of fucking pirates that send us and thats all.Fortunately he is slow so..when he appears on the screen with the Samu's finder..BLAST AT WILL on his head!!! In fact to beat him you have to move around him avoiding phazon and always blasting him.

  • @SilverBlacksky I know, it was so hard!!!...but I defeat it...

  • @SSBFWU and i said one of the hardest ;) Omega thardus Metarydley Metroid Prime ;)

  • I love fighting this guy, just for the music. I can almost take Thardus on without losing health at this point. I loved listening to this so much I'd hang around and extend the fight.

  • Hes rock BUT WHO GIVES A SHIT THIS THEME IS AWESOME!!!!!!!o_e

  • this theme is so powerful........this is gonna play this winter when i try to brave a snowstorm with just a sweater

  • @Zagi814 or when you get out of the shower :D

  • This boss is the frickin' defenition of annoying! You're constantly swithcing in and out of your thermal visor and morph ball. Not to mention that it has freezing andhoming attacks. Plus during its second phase, there is a mist that leaves you with a twenmty meter radius of sight. That and this thing has a CRAPLOAD of HP for an early boss.

  • This music sort of sounds like the Mephiles boss theme in Sonic '06.

  • @MilanTheVillain01 Yup. Only good.

  • @BoyFromFarEast more like hard as rock! X)

  • this plays when Chuck Norris puts ice in his lemonaid

  • i have devised a list of boss battle themes from metroid prime 1 and 2 that could posibly fit in twilight princess. the list is: forest temple =flhaagra goron mines=omega pirate water temple=amorbis abiters grounds=quadraxis snowpeak ruins=thardus temple of time=adult cyyka sky temple=meta ridley twilight=dark samus hyrule castle=emperor ing 1 ganondorf 1=emporer ing 2 ganondorf 2=arura unit 313 change the boss intro and you're good
  • I remember the first time i got to this boss. I somehow managed to get to him WITHOUT the thermal visor. So i was completely lost on how to beat him and died many times.

  • This one was always my favorite boss music for the original, tied with Metroid Prime itself of course.

  • imagine this playing during the boss of snow peak ruins in twilight princess

  • @supernintendoman97 It might would've fit the first form, but it would still be wierd to hear this amongst Twilight Princess music.

  • best FPS EVER!! make another retro but with the wii u controls screw the wii

  • @6docter6ed6richtofen I dont consider this game a first person shooter.... its just so much more of an adventure game.

  • Comment removed

  • @6docter6ed6richtofen Actually , the metroid trillogy is a FPA game, not a FPS

  • @6docter6ed6richtofen Or better yet on PC, where we can enjoy it without clunky Wii controls.

  • @6docter6ed6richtofen Wii controls were perfect, but I'm down for Wii U controls as well.

  • @6docter6ed6richtofen I agree.

  • @6docter6ed6richtofen

    *FPA

**The Wii controls were actually good.

  • I pronounced Thardus as "T.A.R.D.I.S". Did anybody else?

  • This animated bunch of rocks is a living hell on hypermode difficulty.

  • Thardus is a hell. You need to switch visor constantly, watch stones and his ice crystals. Then he does the snowstorm thingy, makes it even more difficult to spot him, and when you least expect it, he'll be coming at you, ROLLIN'!

  • I HATED THIS BOSS!!!

  • me:oooh a snow place snow places are my favorite :D

    *thardus forms*

    me: T_T

  • i shit my pants when i turned on the x ray visor

  • @Nosliw87 either you cheat or you're confused with the thermal visor

  • I have a Regirock in Pokemon named Thardus with the moves Rollout and Ice Punch to tribute metroid

  • Samus: .....finally killed it

Thardus: *Throws rock at her* FFFFFUUUUU....

    Samus: (-.-)' ......really

  • @nitttt hahaha yeah yeah, that rock! :D I was all like "whoo! Killed it! X3" Then this rock hits her in the head. I actually put my hand on my head and said ow. XD

  • when i 1rst played this (i was 6) i was at this place i had a thought huge room no doors thinking "cant be that bad" he shows up song plays (im screwed)

  • Gah I could never dodge his freakin roll attack

  • Multiplayer I feel wouldnt work for Metroid too well (the splitscreen for Echoes WAS interesting) I feel as it is uninspired for this game.

  • @DRum886

    it worked in prime hunters.

  • @TheNinwii

It was pretty good in hunters, mainly because you had, what, 6-7 different characters that played differently with enhanced features for their weapons.

I was thinking more along the lines of Echoes for MP, and it was a miss I would say, just not TOO interesting seeing as how Metroid is about exploring. So maybe a Co-Op feature would work, but it is unlikely (isolated atmosphere and all that).

  • 0:09 sounds like the beginnings of Dubstep.

  • @TonysPiano

Check this track out by Zardonic: /watch?v=QXk43IVj4Gs

I'm almost convinced Metroid Prime's soundtrack could be said to have dubstep in it, just without the crappy overused wub.

  • I remember watching that pile of rocks and thinking, "Awwww, I bet there's like a half dozen Metroids hiding in there to beat."

    *Cutscene Fires*

    *Rocks get up*

*Rocks form together and ROAR at me"

    Me: "OH F**K!!!"

  • this is a unique boss, because no other game has a boss that is a living pile of floating rocks!

  • Best boss evarr!! ;)

  • These games are so good they are worthy enough to have online multiplayer and be on better systems like PS3 and Xbox

  • @ISetCheezOnFire I would skip the multiplayer. This was actually a good enough game as to where you didn't need multiplayer to keep you interested. The story was long and intricate and the main character and bosses, badass. So whenever there is a game with multiplayer, that just means that they don't want to rely on their campain for supporting the game. Even more! What would you do with samus's gun? Its a canon for shits sake. how many upgrades, besides beam changes, could you make?

  • @ISetCheezOnFire but i do love the new console idea

  • Thardus= Rock n Roll!

  • For such a serious series, I like how Retro wasn't afraid to add in a little subtle humor after this fight. It's cool. I like dat! THASSALRIGHTBYME

  • the only thing that didn't satisfy Samus at the end of this battle was when that small piece of rock hit her on the head!

  • Thardus was as experiment made by the Space Pirates. Thardus was a part of Project : Titan, which was the study of placing phazon into non-living objects and using those objects as weapons. This is proved in Metroid Prime 3 because there are some scans saying so, and the fact that the Pirates' ships are part phazon.

    I'm such a Metroid nerd :P

  • this boss was smarter then a box of rocks

  • Thardus was easy. What i didnt like was that godamn Seegoth that pops up almost everywhere in phendrana(including thardus' arena after you kill it)

  • @kierany9 Yeah, but the Plasma Beam makes Sheegoths easy kills.

  • @MeDsCP

Yeah, but i havent got the Plasma Beam yet. I just got the gravity suit in phendrana.

  • @kierany9 LOL, now you get to my least favorite part of that game. You have to back to the Tallon Overworld, go through the crashed Frigate Orpheon, and go ALL the way down to the third level or the Phazon Mines to get the Power Bombs and then back to the first level for the Grapple Beam. :S

  • @MeDsCP

DONT SPOIL IT! Oh well...doesnt matter. My least fav so far was the gravity suit. So much water...shame Samus can't swim

  • @MeDsCP u get power bombs on the second level

  • @MeDsCP You can skip all of that, y'know. Just do a bomb jump in front of the gate that requires Boost Ball in the Great Tree Hall.

  • @Humbug1990 Yeah, but I prefer to not Sequence Break, even though it does make for some interesting boss battles. I remember fighting Flaaghra with the Plasma Beam, that was fun as hell and I kicked his/her/its ass :P I actually got the Artifact of Wild before fighting Flaaghra, I used SB that game like crazy.

  • 4 people got *rock*-rolled.

  • Even though this guy was a pile of rocks, he sent shivers up my spine. It's so weird. :D

  • all samus had to do was use the boost to get through!

  • Spire wishes he was half as cool as Thardus.

  • The rock from hell

  • ( my opinion) its so epic that im going to put this in my EPIC MUSIC LIST OF VIDEOGAMES

  • -Insert random pokemon reference here-

  • "Looks like Thardus just got..."

    *Puts on sunglsses*

    "...ROCKED!"

    YYYYEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!

  • @Vader3123 lol'd

  • it's a rock! it doesn't have any weaknesses!

  • I beat the boss. Almost dead.

Me: "better go back and save"

Heads back through cave, opens door.

    Me: "save station ahead!"

Flying pirates fly up: "You dead!"

Me: "s***! Where did they come from!"

Missiles fly at me, and I die.

BTW this was the first boss (besides parasite queen) where I didn't die on my first play through.

  • I had a hard time trying to get past until i used super missle.

  • the only really hard part of beating Thardus was avoiding his "ball form" attack where he curled up and lunged at you. I always found it somewhat hard to dodge that

  • Galaxy Quest rock monter anyone? Loved how you never clearly see the boss, what a work of art.

  • Thardus, an animated, sentient creature of stone charged with Phazon radiation. The Phazon radiation given off by Thardus negates auto-targeting systems, preventing lock-on. It may be possible to acquire alternate targets with a different Visor. The chaotic nature of Phazon irradiation leads to instability in its structural integrity. Thardus can encase targets in ice, and its colossal size and strength make it a formidable opponent.

    4 novices got crushed

  • Great and steady beat. Fits a final boss theme.

  • @mrliberty20 final boss lol what

  • The metroid and metroid prime games have some of the best video game music I've ever heard, and I've played a lot of video games.

  • omega + samus = phazon suit

Phazon suit + metroid prime = dark samus

    therefore dark samus = 1/3space pirate + 1/3samus + 1/3metroid?

    whoa.

  • @chaoschao27 Dark Samus is made entirely of basically sentient phazon. The cells remaining of Metroid Prime simply chose to retain Samus's form and emulate the suit functions because the suit was already compatible with phazon and the weakened form of Prime needed a basic scaffold to form over. There is pretty much no space pirate at all in the phazon suit, since the gravity suit was just heavily exposed to the high intensity phazon present in the Omega soldier. also inb4retrojustrollswithit

  • @VagabondCookie ....no. did you see the ending of prime 1? metroid prime, in it's dying fit of pain, reached out for the nearest source of phazon, which was samus's phazon suit. this also had the effect of overloading it. later, from the remains, dark samus was born. this is because when prime took the phazon suit, it also got a bit of samus's DNA. thus, the samus shape. dark samus is metroid prime shaped like samus.

  • The aura of epicness given off by this boss and the theme is sadly overwritten by the boss battle being too easy.

  • What if...

There was Omega Thardus?! They would suc lol

  • The environment and effects during this fight are epic.

  • 4 people just plain suck and have multiple chins

    :))))))))))))))) yehe

  • @Pallyprevails Just when I thought the dislike jokes couldn't get any worse.

  • My brother, who was like, 15, had trouble with this boss. I was about 8 at the time. I told him to let me try, and he laughed and said okay. I beat Thardus up like a sandbag. :D

  • @phazonkirby1 My bro, 17 at the time, couldn't manage to make it thru the door to where Thardus was waiting. He understood he needed to use the wave beam to give power to the door but it took my help (like 6-7 then) to tell him he had to super-missile the crack off of the panel so he could do so. Lmao

  • @nocureforstupid my 2 year old brother helped me with Phantom Ganon in LoZ OoT. I didn't realize that after you beat him in ping-pong, you had to attack with your sword. I was 12.

  • go tim allen!

  • 4 people have major trouble with geology.

  • Kinda weird that Phazon was mutagenic enough to bring a FREAKING ROCK PILE to life. I know that it screws up the living, but the inanimate? That's just too AWESOME to be fictional!

  • I WANA ROCK!

    * rock hits samus*

  • I love the ending to this battle. Samus gives her all to destroy a giant rock monster animated by Phazon, and when she does...

    CLANG!

That would have given her a concussion had she not had her helmet. If you don't get what I meant by CLANG!, then you are not a real Metroid fan. Metroid FTW!

  • @MetroidMasher17

What does it mean? PLEASE TELL ASJSAFHFSHSAFHFDHS

  • @FCBMD10 You're not a real Metroid fan! XD

  • @MetroidMasher17

Is it when she gets corrupted with phazon? :$ PLEASE TELL IM CURIOUS AS ****!

  • @FCBMD10 Samus gets corrupted in Prime 3. If you MUST know, after Samus kills Thardus, one of its rocks hits her helmet, making a CLANG! noise. Look it up on YouTube if you wish.

  • @MetroidMasher17

I love how when they put in the occasional comedic bit, It REALLY fits XD

  • And now we wonder how the dinosaurs went extinct..

  • I guess I wasn't the only one that noticed it was that rock spook from Galaxy Quest. Guess the makers are fans of that film.

  • @SimonDuvnjak not the only one.

  • this song is kinda creepy

  • At this point in the game: "k. I see what the phazon fuss is about now"

  • just beat this boss for the second time god he hard sometimes

  • It'sa bunny.

I swear when I saw the commercial thats what I imaged o.o

  • Peppi: Samus, the enemy is behind you! Do a loop!

Samus: Ok! Eh, wait a minute.

  • aaaaaaaa AL DIABLO CON TARDUS ES DIFICIL DE MATAR!!!!

  • @Radico003 don`t speak. no offense but we`re talking english here

  • @crazyXchickaXchicken You mean we're speaking english

  • Thardus ROCKS!....Wait...No pun intended...

  • I died more times than I can remember on this boss

  • Big open space= boss fight lol

  • It's funny when that rock bounces of Samus's head after the battle

  • @thepikapikaaa and she looks like "wtf dude..."

  • @thepikapikaaa *1 energy left**rock hits samus* GAME OVER. Me: damn...

  • in trilogy i probably had a harder time on this boss than the mother fuckin metroid prime, jeez

  • i had no ides wht the f i was doing during this fight it i think i died once but holy shit this guy freaked me out i was going to say whts nexted he is going to spew out a bunch of rock babies to kick my ass even harder

  • I was like what are those rocks doing.... then im like ahhh crap nt this!

  • What do you do when an eighty-ton pile of rocks comes to life and wants to kill you?

    The answer is simple.

    Do a barrel roll.

  • @majarrok you need to win an award for best comment on YouTube :D

  • @majarrok Rofl..

  • @majarrok It's unfortunate that this eighty-ton pile of rocks can do that too.

  • man, this song ROCKS

  • One of my favorites bosses in this game, really I love this song, the best!

  • *Sob* Thardus isn't as fun with the Plasma Beam (not hacked; used a bunch of glitches to get Ice Beam, Plasma Beam, Power Bombs, and Gravity Suit before fighting Thardus). I felt sad while I was pwning him :'(

  • in soviet russia, rock crushes YOU

  • @DarriusTheHedgehog *Metroid Prime = Soviet Russia?!*

  • Samus rocked Thardus like a hurricane

  • I love this song, i also love that boss. Thardus is my most favorite boss in the whole metroid series.

  • Hmmm, thats not bad, 3874... nice man

  • This theme gives me chills... No pun entended... -_- That piano really adds to the mood.

  • Samus: It's a fucking rock monster, how the hell am I supposed to take it down!?

    Commander: Um...Mudkipz?

  • i hated this rock heap....

  • In Hard Mode...if his rolling attack touches you, you lose HALF of an Energy Tank. O.O

  • Man, this theme is SOOOOO FREAKIN' EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Jeezus he's no joke in Hypermode! I got my ass kicked by him two times and I never died against him in awhile! I got him on the third time around I played Trilogy today. I just love Metroid Prime better than Echoes and Corruption. XD

  • It looks like Regirock, but attacks like Regiice! Whats going on?

Then again, Flaahgra is a head of a Scyther on a Weedle's body growing out of Venasuar's flower...

  • @darkbringer1111 LoL, its a Pokemon conspiracy! Then again, it is Nintendo. And we all know how much Nintendo likes its Easter Eggs :D

  • @darkbringer1111

and i suppose metroid prime is an ariados on steroids
