  • I have a feeling the actors were given a un-revised script to read, and when they revised the script they just stuck to the incorrect audio.

  • Awesome!

  • it has great ideas for a game but it just wasn't excuted well at all

also the dialogue is terrible, like audio of girl character would say she's from L.A. but when reading in the dialogue box it would say Tokyo O_o wtf lol

6:44 that right there is a good example of what I just said

what was said: "you use to live overseas?

what the words show: "Did you live abroad then?"

  • I really wish this game had better editors for the localization. I completely lost count of the misspellings, grammar errors, etc. They really ruined the mood ;_;.

  • I made four sequels of this in my head. Each sequel until the fifth has three main characters, those three use sigma. Theyhave different endings and the fifth would tie it all together. Why did Killaware fuck it up in NA?!?!?!?! This could have been an amazing series!

  • Help! I finished this game and loved it1 i need my next game that is like this one!!!

  • i love this game. i was soooooooo sad at the end. but its a really good visual novel style game. any one who needs help with the game just message me and I'll help you, 'kay?

  • game is boring

  • Probably the most underrated DS game by far. Although the engrish is a serious problem.

  • so... the mistranslation is normal... ? *sigh* it looks like I gotta bare with it... cause this game looks like a good game

  • Anyone else notice how much this game is like Persona 4? The main characters look like brothers, highschool, silents=shadows,Shinji=Teddie,Mika=Naoto etc

  • This game is not that bad but the most i enjoy is i make fun of with it and when you use the styli..... draw "dick on their face"

  • Ugh.... Yayoi's Silent is a pain in the ass.... I don't have a stylus, does that make a giant difference? (it did at 6:58, that's for sure!) Honestly, I wanna get on with the gameplay, but I'm stuck on a stupid boss fight! I was clicking so fast and hard that my wrist actually got messed up for a couple hours. XD

Besides that, I really love the game! Honestly, there shouldn't be so much guff over the translation, and while them not telling me how to play was annoying, I managed!

  • To those who loved this game: Watch Shinrei Tantei Yakumo.

  • I'm playing it now, and I just can't put it down. Most of the complaints have to do with confusion. It's a shame that people need to be walked through gameplay in order to enjoy the game.

  • @BlackroseDN if they get lost why aren't they using a walk through?

  • @Montork *sigh* Not a literal walk through.

  • @BlackroseDN what? if you get stuck, can't progress for days, and its more frustrating then fun you should use a walkthrough to get unstuck.

  • @Montork Some people wold see that as lazy (I don't). If they needed a walk through for such a simple game, then they could use one. It's not an action game. There is only so much that you can do.

  • @BlackroseDN its not really lazy if its only once and awhile. i only said you could use a walk through for anyone who says this game is confusing.... if it was an action game it would be even harder to wright a walk through, after all action games mostly require lots of good timing.. that's something hard to explain in words.

  • @Montork So... Then we agree...?

  • there is no fun in looking for lost Ds games get a Gametag check this out especially if your kids have lost their games GAMETAG - Nintendo DS - No More Loose & Lost DS Games - Loyalty Card Organiser

  • Man, I don't know where to download the OST. Seriously, I looked EVERYWHERE.

  • Anyways, the main reason I was going to comment was to give a little more info on the game.

1st. The game takes about 24 hours to beat if you go all out, like I did, to read everything

2nd. There is an Archive, Gallery, and Sound Test that allow you to see the the pictures used in the games, do extra scenarios (37 total), and here all the audio in the game which all you unlock throughout game

As far as I know that sums it all up as far as game description. Reply if you want to add to this.

  • @Transdude1996

Also there are alternate endings. So as far as we can tell. This games has a lot of replay value. And, I mean A LOT.

  • This game was awesome. All the reviews that extremely criticize this game are lame.

Reasons why they say the game is bad: voice dialog, confusing story

Obviously these people only played for an hour and didn't do much. As far as the confusing story, the solution to that is to look up what is happening in the FORT database. The audio options is easily accessible in the options menu during gameplay. So all those reviews are very lame because it exposes how lazy they are to do stuff.

  • I wish someone would make an anime series of Lux Pain.

  • This'll make a good mystery anime(with a few minor editing to fill the action a little). probably it will end up near, let's say Dulalalala

  • @Silvershadow same here!Great plot but oogh i get freaked out sometimes but im not done yet,I think im almost there though....

  • This game freaked me out but I couldn't put it down half the time, especially when the plot picked up.

  • This game could have been so much better. The localization is legendarily bad - whoever translated it was just completely over their heads. It was a noble attempt, but this game just has way too much dialogue, complexity, and nuance to have been handled by a lesser team. It is a tribute to how masterful this game was that most of us love it dearly despite those horrible flaws (none of which have anything to do with the original Japanese version of the game).

  • No DS game has ever put me on such an emotional rollercoaster as this game...

  • @Behemotho I always play this game at night, i'm so addicted and creeped out.

  • @Behemotho No kidding! I was very sad when certain things happened!

  • @Behemotho I highly recommend 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. A brilliant visual novel which I can't praise enough. The gameplay (puzzles you solve) is superb (albeit limited but still more than a great deal of visual novels) and the story is gripping, intense and gets going from the get-go. If you haven't played this game. You absolutely must. Anyone who reads this post and has an interest in visual novels should also at LEAST give this game a wiki and a review.

  • They should really make a show out of this. I mean, sure there's some suicide stuff but seriously it's not that bad, and not horribly depressing that it makes you want to go jump off a cliff. Besides... Atsuki Saijo is fucking hot

  • Were i can find & buy it on san diego or chula vista? a love this kind of serie even 4 this system

  • @HardstepTijuana just use an R4 lol

  • This game is reaally really great if you're into anime/manga/visual novels... In fact I wish more of these kind of games would get translated >__< The ONLY bad thing is the poor translation - which makes the story get a bit confusing - but the english voice acting was really well done, their script made a lot more sense than the text xD

  • @zoozbuh Why hello there. I found me a Zoozbuh. :) I wanted to check out this game too. You seem to be the only one who likes the voice acting. xD

  • @Razzyness LOL! OH HAI :3 And yeah the voice acting is decent.... A hell of a lot more decent than the game's translation itself >___> I wouldnt have been able to understand half the game without voices.

  • vist my channeal pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee sargon7568

  • Would've been better as an anime.

  • this game was awesomeness when i bought it! Then i finished it... ugh it's the type of game you play once and after that you don't know wth to do with it >:[

  • I beat the game like 5 times looking for different stuff..>__>;(an addiction) But I really did likethe game and music

  • I like this game.

  • Thay should make a Japanese game whare the people actually have names i understand. xD

  • When he started the scribling the first time I thought the girl was a psycho or something, now that would have been cool

  • This game totally sucks. I mean it. All you have to do is find some colorful stains in buildings and finds some ghosts whatsoever. Really boring.

  • I just started playing this, but i have no idea what to do :/

I think i started the real game, but there aren't enough instructions, that i end up missing stuff.

Not to mention i just realized it has no battle-system. ://

  • The translation really killed this game, though I still enjoyed it. The Chinese manga, -cough- oops comic book loving shop girl was the worst. The game also could not decide whether it was set in Japan or America. -bangs head- Why do you keep acting like it's set in America when everything from people to locations has Japanese names???

  • pls explain why am i so addicted to this game :-)

  • to be fair to the reviewers, at times (especially later in the game) does get kinda thrown all over the place do to the translation issues, not to mention it ends kinda abruptly and a few other issues pop up, but i still think it's a pretty good game

  • i played this game for a while back when it came out. I wish there was an anime of this

  • I have the game to my DS

  • this is one of my favorite games

  • This game was great<3 at first i was only playing it cause i was paid 15$ for it. But after a while, i couldn't put it down. The Ending kinda pissed me off o-O and the mistranslations weren't really too annoying at all, it wasn't hard to work out what they were supposed to be saying. I Have to admit, The Worms were a bitch and my hand got really sore eventually. xD The Silents were also fun at first. till you were killing 3 per day in the game. it was still a lot of fun. i definitely recomend<3

  • ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US.

    THE CAKE IS A LIE.

  • Lux pain meets persona, wonder what would happen

  • can anyone tell me how this game got a low score? coz i played this it was awesome

  • @taki255

    on metacritic, it's a 48/100 based on 33 reviews

  • To be honest, I have no idea why no one likes this game. It's good, VERY good. Lux-pain is definitely for people who like visual novels, which is very very rare to see nowadays on DS. People say its plotless, but really, its not. I found myself crying in some scenes when something tragic really happens. But then again, I'm only on day 19, so I wouldn't know how the story ends yet. Definitely worth trying, but it has low replay value. You wouldn't want to touch this game until a year later.

  • @okinawacakes Oh my goodness, I was in tears for certain scenes, too!! I actually adore this game and haven't beat it just yet. I really don't see how it can get such low ratings. Sure, its not cut out for everybody, but I still think that if you can get over the bad translations, its really great and well-worth playing! The characters are also really well developed and I find that entertaining~

  • yeah

  • Talk to people, watch what you say, scratch the screen, kill worms. Repeat. It sounds bad when said that way, but this game is very interesting. I found myself caring about what to say and what will happen to people I talk to.

  • I am more likely to get this game now. I've been thinking about it, but the low scores kept putting me off about it.

  • I'm so confused about the first chapter, the game just drops you into action without explaining about shinens or whatever. D:

  • Some translation issues-mostly minor spelling and grammar and there isn't much game play however this game has a great storyline with multiple endings. I'm guessing most gaming sights give it poor reviews because most people seem to be into war/ heavy battling games instead...

  • Or people hate it cause their grammar Nazis....

  • @ScarletDragons2 You will hate it if your a grammar Nazi.

  • @kaibawiz But I'm not so I loved it (and still do ;D )

  • @ScarletDragons2 Good :D

  • The game is pretty great... =/

I just wish you could actually PLAY more, you know? I also spent about five hours reading people's suicidal thoughts, it made me a little depressed myself. Though I'm a little ticked about that, I suppose I can see where the game's going and I can only hope that everyone doesn't die in the end. Yayoi's story really urks me, I understand that (SPOILER ALERT) she's adopted, but she wants to be spoiled, too? No one can spoil you six feet under, girly! >>

  • is it worth 20 bucks?

  • @TravisTuchdown

I got it for ten because it was a used game...

  • Wow, the game actually looks cool, I didnt bought it because gamespot said it had serious translation problems, and I see it isnt true... right?

  • I got this packaged with Megaman Star Force 2 for $20 at sears. Since I've been looking for Star Force 2 and was curious about this title I got the bundle. I then quickly looked up this game to see if it was any good. Critics didn't seem to like it, but I don't trust them anymore, so I found that CGR HD did a review on it and I watched it to see if I should keep it. Judging by what I have seen, I guess I can give it a try.

  • this game is so cool i played it non stop

  • how long does it take to finish?

  • about 12 hours

  • I looooved this game.

  • I stayed up all night playing it. I beat it this morning at 6am. LOL

  • This game is really great, i'm suprised it's rating got "3 out of 10"

  • this game is soo awesome!!!!! really 11 hours in the games and here's a big warning, get ready for anything I was a shock at what happens threw the story

  • I'll be getting this ^_^

  • This is an awesome game, I loved the story so much. It took me 33 hours and 2 tries to beat the darn thing. The story really picks up after you get past the first boss. The silent actually starts getting harder later on, and I actually lost a couple times xD so that's not typical of a visual novel. Check your picture extras if you feel that your ending sucked u might have gotten a premature ending. If you have any slots unfilled then you didn't complete the game.

  • Oh This Game is great by the way a good length also about 20 (Based on mine XD) Also in some ways there is replay value :P

  • Oh i needa find more games like this for the DS XD

  • This game is great but you have to admit it, its not for everyone... its kinda weird, the ending is abrupt and it has the so hilarious Engrish (If you still laugh at "All your base are belong to us" then you will laugh a lot) But Ive been thinking, this game should have an anime adaptation... I dont know why are there so many good graphic novels but none has an anime. Not even Phoenix Wright (Thinking that PW is second on the list of games that should have an anime)

    Thanks for reading.

  • thank you =)

  • there's a bunch of animu that nubs donno originated from eroge which makes me lul

im pretty sure 75%+ of the guys that watched phantom requiem for the phantom thought it started off as an animu or something.

but it came from an eroge made from nitro+

  • @wanacoba phonix wright does have a manga though.

  • @Montork Not for being unpolite but... can't you assume I read it if I posted that comment A YEAR AGO? Because I have read it... just saying.

  • @wanacoba that was a year ago? shit! sorry!

i only mentioned it in case you where unaware of its existence.

  • @Montork don't sweat it buddy... I just answered like that 'cause I'm a big and disgraceful bastard XD...

  • Thank you for this review. If you didn't make I probably wouldn't have bothered to get the game, which I love.

  • Why'd Lux-Pain get so many bad reviews? If you're into Phoenix Wright or other visual novels, it's a worthwhile game.

  • i dont get why theres such a low score for this game. its actually not that bad, if ur into action games and/or hate reading then this game really isnt for you. im into action gaming myself but i also like trying different things. i actually liked this game. the story is what dragged me in. the mistranslation wasnt a problem for me. if you watch a lot of subbed anime then you really wouldnt care. apparently there are different ending depending on how you respond to others.

  • @khfan2343 i don't really understand it myself. the only difference between this and time hollow (which got a decent to good score) is a year or two. if lux pain had come out around the same time as time hollow it would have gotten a much higher score. by 2009 people were a lot less impressed with this sort of game because they had seen it before. i got a new copy at toys r us for 14.99 and i have no regrets.

  • I bought this game almost a week ago and am totally lost. I love games like these, but it feels like it wasn't put together right. I was also shocked at the bad ratings O_O I have mixed feelings about it. But I'll have to get farther into it to state my opinion...

  • i remeber pocket rocker...man that was in the 80's......

  • You know what rly gets me mad about this game? =/

The multiple spelling errors it has.. =/

Oh, and the murders aren't rly homicidal. It's kinda more suicidal cases. :P

Just correcting. But I do love the games' plotline. :3

It got a bad rating though. =/

  • @LatinSmiles11 rly? the spelling makes you mad?

  • Why do I remember Pocket Rockers? I was born in the 90s!

  • ooo my littlesister has this game!:3 ....she loves the game

  • wow!

when you get time subscribe to my channel & comment your favorite video,I'd appreciate it so much

  • Its like a lottery ticket!

  • this is the perfect game for me!~

are there any other games like this? :3

iv read comments like "this game is a waste its boring all there is to do it press the screen and find the billions of typos in it" lol they do have lots of typos but i love the game! :3 Can you tell me anyother games like this one? LUX-PAIN IS AWSOME! i havent beat it yet but i will and then ill play it over and over! :3

so tell me anyother games like this! X3

  • you might wanna try "hotel dusk: room 215" it's like an interactive mystery novel type game. i played it before and i absolutely LOVED it.

  • looks amazing

but i like visual novels anyway so

  • What I mean by reviews are like GameSpot and all those people. I mean come on, 1.5 out of 5? GameSpot is crazy!

  • I found GameSpot to be a little biased towards Nintendo. They always underscore games on the Wii and DS.

  • Don't trust gamespot, only look at interviews of them, gamespot raters are just people who check a game by using a list, is something not on the list, like no good music? Then the game won't get a point. Have you seen one of their interviews, they totally don't sound or look like gamers. Though, some sites still review something by playing it, and not by going out from some point system list thing.

  • plus they fired a gu for giving a game a low rating

  • was that it it it in the begining on purpose?

  • ace attourney is like one of da best ds game ever and wat is dis game about

  • I love this game! It's probably because I'm a huge anime fan and like this kind of games.

I liked Time Hollow too it was really similar to this game, but this was so much better!

Can someone recommend me another game like these(not the Ace Attorney series I already finished all of them) I mean like games with anime like charachters and 'reading' games.

  • They're actually called "Visual Novels", and most originate from Japan =P (Y'know, games with anime like characters and 'reading' games) Doki Doki Majo Shinpan! is quite a nice example for the DS.

  • I found this game to be fun and interesting so far, and I found Time Hollow to be the same. I'd like to know more games that I can play. I don't know why Lux Pain got such bad reviews in America, I think the people who reviewed it, are crazy.

  • the fuck thats most of the chonras captian fucktard

  • @Shadowmov3r racist as fuck. when you assume you make an ass out of u and me.

all times of people like all types of games. all types of developers make all types of games.

  • @Montork Huh what are you talking about? I never wrote that, seriously, I'm not lying, whoever wrote that wasn't me!

  • @Shadowmov3r ... i am at a loss for words. was you account hacked? that opinion is shared by many so im not really mad. i was just surprised that anyone would type that openly.

  • @Montork Of course I don't think what apparently I(?) said, Except for some pronounciation errors and a different opinion (like everyone else) there's nothing different when someone's reviewing.

But I'd never say something like what my doppelgänger said.

  • This game is amazing!

@TooyaRima these games are similar to it and just as great:

    Trace memory

    Hotel dusk

    Theresia

Professor layton (more like a puzzle game)

    zack and wiki

  • visual sim!!!

  • Dude i just beat the game with the good ending ^^ it sux >:D but Rui's Voice acteres i seen on Sound mode and she all so played Monkey D Luffy on one piece ^^

  • I'm glad i bought the game before gamestop raise the goddamn price(those bastards)

  • ha i actually looked up the pocket rockers comercial... Awesome

  • the music sounds like maple story.

  • Ya i tried but i couldnt get into this game. If you want a better game kinda like this get the Phoenix Wright series

  • OBJECTION!

  • couldn't help but laugh at "Your mom..is beautiful", it came out of nowhere XP. quickly...OFF TO THE SHOPS!

  • what exactly is this game about?as in the game play style, what were you doing with the pen scratching the character like that and dragging some bars?

  • youre scratching away at a person's outward shell and looking at their subconscious, there are emotional parasites that can twist a person's feelings into being demented or suicidal so youre looking for these parasites to kill them and return the person to normal, the bars are scattered thoughts and emotions that you look at to discover an even deeper hidden emotion or parasite. Very cool game in my opinion, the plot is very dark but emotional also, captures a great atmosphere!

  • sounds interesting thanks for the info.

  • i just finished the game today yay. well in my opinion this was one of the most underrated game i've play in a long time(despite the horrible translation). now that i finished lux pain my next target is time hollow

  • i finish the part on yayoi silent

  • This Game has no Fights no? It just communication ?

  • is it just me or does every girl in a japanese game is busty and is barely covering her pet beaver and then falls in love with a guy who is then a demon and the chick says it doesnt matter and then the freakish couple then go on a queer adventure and finally she is shocked by him and she uns away and then everybody dies, am i right?

  • Busty females are always the best kind.

  • The translation is dreadful. Seriously, I have seen better fan translations. How in the world did they mess up a good game so bad?

  • True, I couldn't tell whether I should trust the words on screen or the person talking. Since when did we need two different scripts to progress us through the plot?

  • lol me too!

  • I CANT BEAT YAYOI'S SILENT!!! someone plz help i know how i just cant do it!!! AGH! i've gotten 23 game oves AND COUNTING!!! u tap on the glass (except when spinning) then swipe the white thingy but i still die!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

  • the bleach ds game also have some rockin tunes

  • is this an anime?

  • pocket rockers

    hauauaau

  • ...O.o whaddya guys think of this with caramelldansen? lux pain caramelldansen?

  • says the guy with semen in his username. >.>

  • you have semen in your username.

  • lol good one

  • haha

  • This game kind of reminds me of Time Hollow.

  • It is kind of similar to time hollow, like with the scratching and searching kind of thing

  • HELP ME ANY ONE WHO HAS PLAYED THE GAME! I AM TOTALY STUCK! I finished the game but in the gallery there is still one picture left...the cake picture! ( saw on internet) i really want it but i don't want to play it again not knowing if it is in vain or not....so can anyone please help me!

  • When the title says "Classic Game Room Hd" what kind of theme/song is playing then.? Thx for answer.

  • they made a custom one i think

  • i can't finish it cause i can't locate yayoi! help??

  • anime related game are cool

  • Definitely not for everyone. I finished the game the other night and I was sad that it had ended. I guess there's multiple endings so I'm gonna go back and play it again, especially since I wasn't happy with the ending I got. The game is also really long so this is gonna take a while. I wish there was a strategy guide to the game so I can get help finding the other endings.

  • haha, yeah, that happened to me too. How the heck is not picking flowers make me gay?

  • This game is awesome (bad spelling, translating, but who cares?) the storyline is great, the characters arent plain or previsible, and, it has various endings (this point reminds me of chrono trigger :D). But after finishing the game, I had a problem. I feel a sadness shinen flowing into me.. I want a sequel!!! Or i will commit suicide!! (lol)

  • Man the translation is horrible, theres way to much to read, and the boss fights are boring and repedative, but for some reason I can't stop playing!!!!! :O

  • The boss battles are kind of boring and the translations are horrible...

    but i cant stop playing!!!

  • this game is weird....i thought it could of been better!
