  • I love it when he "gooses" it and scares the cameraman. That's the power of the Hemi.

Is there any 354 Hemi dragsters out there?

  • @WillysWoodPile There's one running in the SWJFA. Or at least he was. I'd love to run one, but they're pretty expensive vs a SBC. So, of course, I'm building a SBF.

  • @dmpyron My buddy had just got done building a 302 in his 70 Comet G/T. [We called it The Vomit] It was the night before the High School Drags at 131 Dragway in Martin, Michigan. I was in town at the local Marathon station and I hear this roar. It was my buddy driving by with open headers. He ended up driving to Detroit and back to break in the engine. He ran low 12's but had problems with low-end speed. Could have easily gotten into the 11's.

Born with Chevy's, Related to Ford, love Mopars.

  • pure wood

  • so idling and revving the motor is "in action"?

  • Sounds like he's poppin' corn lol. Niiiiiice!

  • first generation hemi, the distributor is in the back. probably a 392...nice

  • or a Donovan 417

  • WTF thats not in action.....

  • when YOU pay for one plus the nitro YOU can do as you want chap...

  • Makes me get a hardon listening to the sweet purr of a V8.ho ho ho ho ho

  • They start up on alky, run for a bit on alky, then swich to nitro when the motor gets hot enough.

  • BS... They start it on alky.. The delay from alky to nitro is simply how long it takes for the cam driven pump to prime.

  • @prophet27999 Actually you start on methanol until the engine warms up enough to make the nitro explode, since it doesn't burn. But you have to prime it with a good splash for exactly the reason you say. And, yes, BS.

  • that would be an alky burner

  • sounds like nitro to me bro. Alky motors idle super fast, and they don't cackle like this. They also don't rev up like that.

  • no, that's the sound of "pop" otherwise known as nitormethane... methanol doesn't have that crackle to it...

  • probably warmin her up on alcohol, note driver without helmet,if it was gettin ready for an immediate run he woulda been in his lid.

  • the hustler IV cacklefest car wohw who is the masked man

  • Yeah, cooler, but when the engine blows, the driver eats red hot scrap metal at high velocity.

  • Nothing like a front motored hemi rail running on 'pop', nhra needs to let these guys race instead of what's on the track now! nuff said!

  • Looks like a 392 HEMI to me.

  • I think it is a low-dose nitro warm-up

  • like.. where's the action?

  • In the cylinders, apparently. Cool engine, nonetheless.

  • Doesnt sound blown to me, lol.

  • Then what's the 6-71 doing on top?

  • was that alchohol or a gasoline burning
