I hate Petyr for betraying Ned and I hate joffrey more than any other person in the entire series... I felt so bad for Ned because he was such an honorable man
I really was sad at this scene in the books. By doing this horrible thing, Joffrey deprived Daenerys of her rightful vengeance against Ned Stark, the Usurper's Dog. :P
@zZKamikazePancakeZz If you haven't read the books yet, wait till you meet the Freys or the Boltons. Lannisters will seem like pretty nice guys compared to those scumbags.
@zZKamikazePancakeZz House Lannister will be victorious, they are the awesomest family in Westeros.I hate eddard stark, catelyn stark and robb stark and they are all dead. Thank you so much GRRM. I want all starks to die painfull, agonizing death.
I hate petyr so much.in fact the only characters I hate more are joffrey, jaime, and melisandre. If petyr never betrayed eddard he would have been king instead of dead
@LeloucheMajors I ladmire Petyr Baelish the Littlefinger, he is the smartest character in ASOIAF. Petyr alawys worked against totalitarian straks, it was his idea to poispn jon arryn. Petyr saviour of Wasteros, the Wolfslayer I admire Jaime Lannister even more.
strak as king. the most horrible nightmare possible
I hate eddard stark, catelyn stark and robb stark and they are all dead. Thank you so much GRRM.
Never in all my life have I developed such true hate for a character in a television series before. King Joffrey, BURN IN HELL YOU WRETCHED LITTLE SHIT!!!
LOVED Lord Stark :-( but alas and oh well now the stark family can get their revenge on and kill everyone. I looe foreword to it, well that or dany coming across the narrow sea with 3 dragons to roast everyone.
@ysnake0889 yeah BUT she redeems herself when she said maybe her brother would bring her joffrey's head and then takes that step to push joffery off the wall. I was so pissed at sansa to but now love her and look foreword to her laughing over joffrey's corpse one day
Lol, try doing this to Richard Sharpe and he would dispatch of the gaurds (with the help of Harpers volley gun) engage Jaime lannister in a sword fight and win by pucing him in the throat and then he would shove a ramrod down Jofferys throat.
@Paulderak he dies so well though.....and his acting so draws us all in to at least sympathize with his character if not out and out love his character so killing him off is always great theater/ more traumatic dramatic
See a lot of people were like WTF when this happened. See this is what GRRM wanted to get you to know early on. This ain't no cookie cutter story where the bad guy always gets theirs in the end. This also isn't your story where the main characters will get rescued at the last minute multiple times. Many people probably expected that, but as the cold minutes dragged on they realized that it wasn't going to be the case in this time. This whole scene is letting everyone know, Shit just got real.
@veldross1 Yeah. And he let you know it would happen early on in the book, when they found the wolves. The parent wolf died at the hands, or antler, or a stag. Pierced in the neck. One wolf for every child, and the parents fate for the father. pretty apt.
@BubTheZombie1 The Wolf had been killed by the Stag, but the Stag died from the Wolf too. Robert making Ned the Hand eventually got Ned killed, but Ned warning Cersei about him knowing the truth caused her to set Robert up to be killed. They "killed" each other.
@veldross1 Yeah. I remember when I first read the book. I'm thinking: "Ned will be fine, he has to be. He's the good guy who knows the truth about the "Baratheon" kids and is the honorable one. So honorable that evn when he dishonorably had Jon Snow, he (unlike most men, who never even meet their bastards) took and raised Snow as best he could. When Joffrey says to kill him, I get all shocked but am sure SOMEBODY's gonna stop him. Then Payne lops his head off, and I drop the book.
@ericyanng Nan... Not trolling, speaking it like it is. You carebears don't know what a kingdom needs. A strong leader, a king that punish treason harshly for the better good of the whole nation. Off with the traitor's head I say and long live the king!
@RageOfTheTiger it is their gold that is their 1 and only strength...without they would have no troops where as the starks have troops through loyalty and love
it hurts my heart that Ned had confess to lies, on the strength of his family he did. I wish Ned would have quickly screamed out Joffery was not the kings son.
why did i think arya was was going to save ned. i know stupid right
cant wait for season 2 i might have to cancel my hbo soon i will be heart broken my cable bill is way to high
@Yvieneify thats the point of it. that in real life, people aren't always given glorious ends with great speeches and heroic deaths. he was a man of honor and chivalry, in a world unfit for him, with the political rats and backstabbing going on in the southern kingdom courts. its a display that evil can and will win, and is much easier to live by in a corrupt world
I didn't want to believe Ned was dead until i saw them drag away his headless body in the next episode, i was just praying something would save him.....Robb...Kill them all! and get that child kings head and piss on it!
sean bean = they will make you love his character and then POW! rip him away from you in death.....though no one pulls you into liking a character so much and dieing so well and breaking our hearts as sean Bean :-P
@PerryPantha No, man. You weren't. Right up to the point where the blade went trough his neck, I was waiting for someone or something to save Noble Ned from death. And when his head fell from his shoulders........
@Cerberusballs When I reached this part in the books back when I first read them, I was pretty much in shock at this point. I'm glad they managed to make it just as shocking in the show. That little monster's smirk as he looked at Sansa was dead-on, too.

No, I'm not talking John Paul II who is an anti-pope, I'm talking people like Pus X, Euphrasia Pelletier, Maximilian Kolbe, etc... I'll pray for you. Mary bless you!
@Angryflyingmouse The reason they did it is very simple indeed. This series is a very faithful adaption of the books by G.R.R. Martin, and what G.R.R. Martin does best is kill off your favorite character. Such as Ned, at the end of A Game of Thrones.
A priest of R'hllor can, and a particular Stark does become undead, but there is a mental effect. If Ned lived the series would never be the same, he had to die because that is part of why it made some many of us throw the first book across the room and still picked up the sequel.
@ggsfriend Yea seriously... when being cast, Sean Bean must have been like: "REALLY guys? I have to die at the end of the first installment of an epic fantasy AGAIN?!"
anyone else notice his look of distaste on his face when he says this confession. Like he has a bad taste in his mouth and i just find that acting a nice detail amongst this scene, still sucks that they kill Ned but oh what awaits the Lannister house is pure karma retribution.

@knightversion1
A priest of R'hllor can, and a particular Stark does become undead, but there is a mental effect. If Ned lived the series would never be the same, he had to die because that is part of why it made some many of us throw the first book across the room and still picked up the sequel.

Does Sean Bean whisper something seconds before his head is cut off? It's very quiet, but his lips move...

@ggsfriend Yea seriously... when being cast, Sean Bean must have been like: "REALLY guys? I have to die at the end of the first installment of an epic fantasy AGAIN?!"
He was a perfect cast though

@ggsfriend Exactly! Mr Bean...we all love you. Stop dying on screen. Live for once! Troy and Flightplan are not enough.

anyone else notice his look of distaste on his face when he says this confession. Like he has a bad taste in his mouth and i just find that acting a nice detail amongst this scene, still sucks that they kill Ned but oh what awaits the Lannister house is pure karma retribution.
