whats youre name? mister chaotic. first you will have to break in the barrel on a decent way. second is that you dont must putt all the bullets in the magazine. one less as it stands in the manual. read it
Walther - awesome how you said it. If you are interested, don't want to be a wiseass: it is spoken with just the t. Like the typical servants name and the a is like "ah". German sucks, I know! First thing I am going to do when visiting america: Shooting.
I've got a P22 5" and after the intial break in period, I've had absolutely no problems with it. I run nothing but CCI Mini-Mags through it. Gun has never jammed or had a FTF with CCI ammo. Reviewer doesn't even know how to properly use the weapon, evidensed by his riding the slide forward.
@Marc2b4 I'm glad that your P22 runs great...If you noticed in the the video, this one jammed with CCI Mini mags. Also, The thumb riding the slide is a data point to those with larger hand that could be prone to doing that. I did mention that it was my fault in the video as to not confuse my actions there with the fault of the gun.
@DocTacDad We have the same problems with my wifes p22 also. As long as we use cci stingers it works fine. It will even jam with mini mags after a few mags have been run through it. like yours my wifes seems to drag on the hammer.
@Marc2b4 I agree that user error resulted in the only malfunctions with this weapon. Improper use and a lack of familiarity with any proper shooting technique makes the reviewer look foolish and results in no credibility.
None of the issues with that gun were operator error, it's just not a very reliable gun. Things loosening up and pieces falling off, way too many FTFs and misfires. I was never a big fan of .22 auto loader pistols, they seem to be inherently unreliable. I have a MK III and love the gun, but it needs to be kept clean and is ammo sensitive. I would prefer a revolver in .22 for a woods gun, but the Walther looks cool :-)
@grizz474 Yeah, it's not a reliable gun, for sure... it's just one of the most sold .22 pistols in the world and youtube is full with P22 jam videos... oO I own a P22 and i put a couple of thousand rounds through it and i can't remind of a jam. There might have been one but i honestly can't remind of one.
And it's not russian made, means every P22 i ever saw was just like the other one. There are no tolerances.
So all of the issues with that gun were propably operator errors.
It seemed to run better after you took those thick gloves off...but these p22s still seem to be a little more jam prone than the ruger mark IIIs. I was very interested in the smith and wesson m&P 22 but now that I know walther makes them, I am on the fence again. Thanks for the video.
I have to say, for all the trouble others seem to have with their P22s, I've haven't had any failures in almost 5000 rounds, using Federal Champion 525 Bulk. It just runs like a watch for me.
If you look at 3:20 in the video you will see that the top screw is no where tight and that is why it slide forward. Also as you were complaining about it sticking on the hammer i notice that you do not use the slide release as designed and instead rack the slide back. I believe if you just hit the slide release on the left side you would have never had one problem, well that and your gloves rubbing against the slide.
@thost Thanks for the observations...the barrel stabilizer would slip forward regardless of how tight it was and whether or not it was in the detent. As to the slide a firearm should function like every other design of it's kind...slide release or manual rack are both effective ways to manipulate the slide on a semi-auto, and should work regardless. Thanks
Directly from the owners manual "Use only high velocity ammunition in your Walther P22." Maybe if people learned how to read, this gun wouldn't have such a bad rap!
@gerDrillinstructor It is a fun little gun to shoot, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than plinking. If you get one I would get the 3.4" barrel one. The barrel stabilizer on the 5" is just too much of an annoyance for me.
You suck at this. First bought a used weapon and did not detail that in the video. You knew nothing about the weapon I.e. What you had on it. Most of the malfunctions were on the part of the jackass operator.
My girlfriend bought one everyone loved it from 10 to 65 I even bought one I even put the flock in the safe now carry this cause I shot this gun every day bring me back to when I started shooting
Also i noticed your a right handed shooter like myself. One tip: As you hold the gun with your right hand and bring your left hand to the side, take the index finger of your left hand, and place it on the curved part of the trigger guard. and hold it firmly. it makes the slide eject the empty round a whole lot better.
Yeah get used to having to pull the slide back often times between rounds because it happens to me all the time with cheap ammunition. My brother bought some high dollar ammo and we shot a few rounds and as far as i can remember we didnt have that problem. All depending on the type of ammunition.
Do you think the barrel extension is worth the money? I looked at one thing on the internet that said they had to keep adjusting it because it got too loose or they put it on too tight? Can you tell a difference in accuracy?
@xBABYxSTOMPERx The thing is a pain in the butt to put on and remove for cleaning...for that alone I wouldn't, but that is just me. You will get better velocities from the round and longer sight radius so accuracy will be better.
Nice Video. Picking up that misfire was a stupid move though. If it turned out to be a hang fire you would have had a hard time pinching for the rest of your life.
Those are pretty sweet little guns I have had mine for about 8 months and I have put well over 5k through it... My kid's love to shoot it.. But it does jam from time to time..I find that the more lube that it has the less it jams and every 2-300 round that I put through it I break it down and wipe it out.
The P22 did well with the Bulk Pack cheap ammo when I shot it as well. I find it hard to comment on any 22lr and how it cycles ammo until it has over 1000 rounds thru it. Ive had 22's that ran anything at first then actually started having issues after that 1000 mark. I find that the Bulk ammo has issues when its below 25 degrees out too. Fun little gun I have to say. I think it mimics a center fire well.
@TheTactical6string It is a fun pistol...this one ran all the ammo we put through it about the same. I purchased it used so I estimate about 1500-2000 rounds total after I put the 400 through it. It was a very cold day when we were shooting -5. Thanks for watching brother!
You should have put about 200 rounds before "testing", all guns have to break in, also check your grip, your right thumb should be under your left thumb, love the p22 great little pistol.
@RDS5284 The gun was purchased used and the guy I bought it from said it had 200 rounds through it. I suspected more like 1000. It was broke in before I shot it. Thanks for commenting.
Hello - I just subed. I purchased this gun - In California we are only allowed to purchase the regular sized barrel NOT the extended barrel. I was advised by my gunshop owner to only fire the CCI minimags as they are HIGH Velocity. With a blowback design if you don't use the HIGH Velocity .22 you will get FTF, FTE, FT LOAD, & all sorts of other function problems. Same is true of other HIGH Velocity type pistols. The Sig Mosquito is the same way. THX. Sincerely, JAMES.
@buzzclark Thanks for the sub...this little pistol seemed to function about the same with every type of ammo we put through it. Congrats on your purchase! Hope you got a good one.
Thanks, I was actually thinking about getting one of those.... I'm so glad I watched this first!
