  • i want one

  • Can you send me the tabs?

  • i am saving for one of these right now!

  • The sound is relaxing.

  • Lol, ultimate hippie instrument.

  • cool instrument.

  • this is fuckin rad!

  • how loud are these?

  • great instrument just like the hang drum. BTW why does the ugly logo have to be so big and centered, nevertheless glittery? smaller engraved/silk screened would be much more elegant. Food for thought.

  • @intercitty Thanks for the comment. This was back when we first started, 3 years ago, now we have more models and scales, standardized logo's, and no "glitter" :)

  • @intercitty I like the big logo on its front. Its like its saying "hello my name is Hapi, please play me!"

  • how much does this thing cost?

  • @oddmusic ok, when you buy it, do you automaticly buy it in a certain scale?

  • @allmetaliswelcome We sell them in a number of different scales, but once one is tuned to a certain scale, that's where it stays. Although it is possible to re-tune notes lower, by cutting the tongues a little further, just can't go "up" in tuning, since you can't un-cut something :)

  • @oddmusic E isso quanto da em euros?

  • @persestes 274 Euros

  • @oddmusic Hi!, how can I get one in Colombia?

  • I want one!

  • I have questions. How did you do such a clean job of cutting it? And it is like a harmonica isn't it? You can only play notes in a single chord and in one key? But that sound is awesome.

  • Would the middle work/resonate like on a hung?

    Are they virtually the same?

    Which is better?

  • what is the correlation between the size of the key and the sound it makes?

  • @DemonicTaco666 The smaller keys make higher sounds, and bigger keys make lower sounds, and they vary in pitch depending how deep the cuts are on the tongues. Kind of like how a xylophone bar is or even a tube on a wind chime. Hope that helps :) Bigger key = slower vibration and lower sound than a smaller key which vibrates quicker.

  • is there a bass version of a HAPI drum? or at least one with lower tones? i think that would be awesome!

  • Omg now I know where Age of Empires music comes from! :D

  • Nice sound but I like panart more

  • @SamuelKing1oz Panart need to stop being idiots about their production though.

demand far out weighs their production capabilities so the should be looking at licensing it for mass production.

  • awesome, the device and the playing :-))

  • im debating whether to buy a hapi UFO or 2 hapi slim drums. any suggestions?

  • i like :D nice 1

  • mi dite come si chiama questo strumento!

  • never had seen this drum but it's awesome... great sound...

  • What rational reasons could eight people have for "thumbs-down"ing this?

  • Where can I get one of these?? How much are they?

I'm assuming far less than the proper steel ones?

Well done on the video as well!

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome technique! If you could make a couple of lessons on how to play a Hapi UFO (I'm a recent hapi owner) - that would be so cool!

  • I love this!!

  • Awesome!! :D

Makes me want to sample it and just be creative with it!

  • Sounds sort of like an array mbira - sweet!

  • @myhalfof Cool thanks! I have a video online with Patrick Hadley (co-maker of the Array) playing his Array Mbira along with Hang and Hapi Drum.

  • Very chill.

  • beautiful

  • Super sympa comme son!

  • Im 100% getting one for my 18th bday in July!

    Seriously can't wait!

smoke some herb and jam out on my Hapi Drum, will be amazing!

    I love these things!

  • @MicLODsonKDYboxes You got the right way of thinking ;)

  • @MicLODsonKDYboxes

HAving fun with it? It's been a good month now.

  • cool!

  • Well, now that's just cool:-)

  • A new dimension and direction for Tabla/Mridangam players.

  • awesome love how you swing it and the shaker really is all theaccompaniment you need

  • aa yo kiero uno aaa esta bien cab"#$ jeje

  • Nice work! :)

  • Besides the maracas/rhythm egg there's a kalimba in the background, right? It's sort of difficult for me to figure out if that higher pitch melodic sound is part of the drum sound somehow, or not. I guess not.

  • @navidsonpuzzle Hi, it's just the Hapi Drum and the shaker, so all sounds except for the shaker are from the Hapi and its natural harmonics, recorded in one live track.

  • Harmonic series. Look it up.

  • Is there any way to get an mp3 of this song or something?

  • @BubblesKnowsNothing Message me with your email address and I'll dig out a copy for you :)

  • ReallY? :D

  • I figured out how to play the start of this with the D major on the website^^ I'm likely to eventually get one of these^^

  • I just played my new Hapi along with this video. We sound great together! Thanks!

    Luvaste'....Drumaste",

    K-Sue

  • @simonsue2

Very cool Sue, glad to jam along with ya! :)

  • pretty cool...sweet sound!

  • Comment removed

  • how do get that?

  • This looks like a fun instrument to play. It makes me HAPI just listening to it.

  • I concur

  • i can play this

  • pls show it in a tutorial :)

  • dude that things cool wicked idea

  • You are amazing!

Your playlist is causing me to be so calm... thank you!

  • These kinds of drums should be used more often in music. They sound so cool!

  • well, this is really anal and dickish, so don't take this seriously since i don't actually give any shits and this drum is great, but thats not e minor. the scale is pentatonic, there are no defining 'minor scale' notes being played

  • I don't mean to sound analish, or dickish either... But I think they mean they are tuned to E minor(E G A B D E G A) though you are right that the scale is pentatonic.

Who cares though. You're right, this thing kicks ass.

  • It's tuned to E minor pentatonic, which contains a minor 3rd and a minor 7th. You can't get much more minor than that!

  • this really relaxes me! It's like therapy

  • beautifully layered

  • This is like a hang (Swiss) but cheaper.

  • Nice playing :) This would sound great with a bit of Riq joining it ;)

  • mint m8 how much do thay cost

  • about $400USD

  • Hey, if i get the drum in Pygmy or Akebono scale, would it be more complicated to jam with other musicians? Cuz you know, their sound can not be called Standard ))

    Thank you.

  • This is my favorite song, still love this one John!

  • I'm about to get me one of these ^^

  • nice one!

  • Sounds like jungle theme music...

    i like it!

  • Nice tune, have one ordered and estimated dilvery time is in April. Nice tune, how about some lessons for us non musicians so we can play nice tunes like this one. :)

  • ugh if only i could play this good

  • I think I would have a lot more fun playing this than a hang drum. Just my personal preferance though. It sounds so chill and hapi!

  • that was the best

i was thinkin of gettin a drum like that and i didnt know that it came in E minor that is awesome nice work

  • Thanks Carl :) Yes, they come in E and D major and minor, and also the Pygmy and Akebono scales.

  • Pygmy and Akebono scales - Nice!!

  • How much do these badboys cost roughly?

  • $375

  • It sounds great, the only thing is that it has added effects. This video is not just the drum. But with the effects this drum is well done and played.

  • It's just the drum, and then added a little track with a handheld wood shaker for a beat.

  • that sounds good actually

  • cause they're gay. ^^

  • If they are built the same way as steel drums, you'll find out by watching the steeldrum 'How its Made'. It takes a long time to tune it right, and it has to be done manually.

  • pretty cool, but still not a hang drum

  • yeah but the closest thing to getting one now a days

  • PLEASE ! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT E MINOR NOTES ARE!!! im not musicly smart

  • its an E note with the major 3 note dropped half a step

  • That's just one interval of the E minor scale.

  • Wait, you can tune these.. ? O_o

  • no but you can but them in different tunings

  • i soooo want one!!!!!!

  • EPIC!!

  • awesome!!!!

  • sweet

  • MAkes me VERY sad that I'm in brazil and over here we can't find ANY kind of hang drum... even the hapi one is very expensive with shipping and our shitty govern over taxes.

    =(

One day, who knows, I'll get mine.

  • lol

  • can you find a propane tank?

  • yes, but between having a propane tank and know what to do with it, there is a huge diference. =(

  • finding out how is easy. Having the right tools, skill and patience is another story...

  • i can see why its called the hapi drum...very cute...did you create this drum? anyways sounds great and keep playing!

  • any help you tips you can give me on making my own please??

  • im making mine now , ill tell you how it turned out when im done

  • want one :D amazing

  • Great Music.

    Many greetings Angeline

  • does anyone know where i could get a hang drum at?

  • somewhere in the depths of Turkey from a private family who will only sell them to you if you make a pre-planned visit as well as pick it up personally....

    yepp, i know, it sucks..

  • scratch that... Switzerland, not Turkey.

  • thats a hang drum. not hapi

  • try a music store

  • haha, try the web site link they give u?

  • This is one Hapi Song :P

  • Bucketchico, haha, that's what I though of, too! Sounds like DKC.

  • that's why i play drums & percussion!

  • It give the donkey kong country sensation xD

    love it

    sound cool ^^

  • What is the phone number of the HAPI drum people? I prefer to order things over the phone and I can't fine it on their website.

  • very good

  • i live in egypt if any one can help me find a hapi or a hang please send me a message

    thank u

  • See your Inbox for a message :)

  • just did thanks.

  • Very good sounding! (not as good as a hang though, of course ;-) )

  • Hey, to all of you thinking about buying a HAPI, I love mine. I have little experience with a percussion instrument, with the HAPI you can't make a mistake, you can close your eyes and not look and it will sound great. It's surpasses all my expectations, and it's addictive, I don't know what I am doing on here, I'd rather be playing my HAPI. Hey now, that's a good line for a bumper sticker! Carmy

  • I really want one but, aren't they like $300+

But, if I do get one, I'm takin that sucker to my drum circle.

  • Maybe I will buy a Hapi drum.:)

But is it a hard instrument, because I don't have any experience with other percussion instruments?

  • Hi, they are one of the easiest instruments to play in the world, just like the Hang Drum is. There are no "wrong" notes on it, so you can play randomly and still sound good, and if you have a little rhythm in tapping your fingers, it's even easier :)

  • Thanks for awnsering!

My feeling for ryhm isn't that bad I think...

I'm almost sure i'm getting a Hapi now!

    thank you

  • Okay i have to admit that is way awesome.. i play a hang drum.. but this! This is way awesome. Excellent demonstration.. i loved the rhythm.

  • Thanks man, I have a hang drum as well, these have their own personality and style of play and are proving to be pretty fun to jam and play with.

  • i dint even know instruments like this exsisted! , there ace , and so are you amazin man

  • thanks man! :)

  • Excellent!

  • So it's got only 8 tones? Looks pretty limited to me. The same as Hang - you use up its potential pretty quick.

  • I think that has more to do with a players limitations... a didgeridoo only has one note and can sound quite interesting, and many other instruments have less than 8 notes.

  • I'm with John (oddmusic) I would say TALENT would be the only "limited potential".

  • Saying that it's all just a "talent" thing is wrong. If you're so talented so why to waste money on instruments? Get yourself a big pickles can and start playing. Instruments also have their limitations, there are more and less challenging instruments, and BTW Didgeridoo is one of the most boring instruments I have in my collection.

  • its not about talent its more of creativity becuase you can play more than one tone at the same time, which makes a different sound

  • how do you get one in canada, toronto

  • You can order one from: HapiTones (dot) com

they ship to Canada and everywhere else :)

  • they currently have one listed on ebay buy the same maker of this one

  • J. This is my favorite of all the videos! C.

  • thanks! more to come :)

  • thats awesome, loved it

  • no offence but i preffer the other one:)

  • No offence but that has NOTHING on the hang drum!

    Nice but not spiritualy capturing...

  • other than people can actually get one :)

  • love to get one those but it's US shipping only. :(

  • Hey, they ship worldwide....just checked.

  • yes they ship worldwide, through the normal postal mail, so they need to give you a shipping quote before you buy. HapiTones (dot) com :)

  • I do believe it does ship out of the U.S.

  • Yes, in fact we've shipped to 7 different countries this week.

  • Really nice!

  • More...more...more please :)

  • Just close my eyes...in a dream...*smiles*

  • Hapi sounds so nice. $295 buy it now price makes me sad :(

  • lol compared to the price of a hang drum that's great!

  • Great work, again! This HAPI drum looks so simple and yet so effective. It's like they say the best solution is a simple solution. I really enjoyed it, it made me hapi :D

  • Very cool!

  • That is incredible. What a great and innovative instrument!.

  • sooothing, i love it. Great work man, as usual :)

    Jack

  • John, love the way you play the Hapi and love the Hapi. Sounds great. Whole new sound. Would you recommend miking from the bottom in live performance or from the top? I'm about to get very Hapi.
