At the same time, they increased Medicare premiums by about $13 and took that out of our SS increase giving us abour $4 a month cost-of-living increase. Even though Sweden is ahead of the United States in nearly every "per capita" based statistic that you can think of i don't think that Sweden has the best system. I think that if the United States got a free market system with sound money and abolished the federal reserve they would catch up to Sweden and go past.
Capita is Latin and stands for "head". per capita = per person. The statistics i am referring to are statistics that are measured per capita so that you can compare big countries like the United States 300+ million people with smaller countries like Sweden 9 million.
So my point was that Sweden is far ahead in nearly every per capita based statistic that you can think of.

There is always a small percentage of people who are innocent in jail. If we can execute 5 criminals and one of them is innocent, the fact that four guilty have died makes up for it. If the people could opt out they could move from a maximum income of 22,000 per year income to an average income of over 72,000 at 7%. Capita is Latin and stands for "head". per capita = per person. The statistics i am referring to are statistics that are measured per capita so that you can compare big countries like the United States 300+ million people with smaller countries like Sweden 9 million.

@sutircomed It doesn't matter if he is innocent or not, some innocent people will have to die in order for us to be hard on crime. There is always a small percentage of people who are innocent in jail. If we can execute 5 criminals and one of them is innocent, the fact that four guilty have died makes up for it. Executions are justice for people who do bad things. Our justice system isn't about compassion or mercy, it is about punishment and bringing pain to those who did society wrong.

@DevilBoyVex that's funny. the recidivism rate in the US is over 60%, yet in countries such as Norway, which focus on rehabilitation rather than "bringing pain to those who did society wrong," the recidivism rate is 20%. being "hard on crime" simply means that those who are punished are more than likely going to return to a life of crime after prison. rehabilitation is the answer.
but i suppose that's all a load of rubbish because Norway is liberal and that peace crap has no place in america

@itstristanyo who gives a shit about crimes being repeated by the same people. It's about dealing with bad people, not protecting people. There is a inherit justice in the punishment of them without any means of another goal. Justice for the sake of justice, not justice for the sake of less criminals. If you break my leg, I break yours. A criminal shouldn't get off any less, in fact I'd argue hang the guy for breaking my leg.

Romney often proudly points out that he was the first governor in modern Massachusetts history to deny every request for a pardon or commutation during his four years in office. He says he refused pardons because he didn't want to overturn a jury.
During the four years Romney was in office, 100 requests for commutations and 172 requests for pardons were filed in the state. All were denied.

Perry is afraid of the truth! Reagan and Clinton raped SS of trillions! That is how well SS was working! They caused the failure of a perfect program for seniors! It can work again! But it needs to be in the hands of the people where government cannot get their hands on it! Look back at the history of it! It was a very necessary program for the hard working class! @sutircomed The problem with SS is that it forces millions of Americans to live on the poverty level and dependent on the government during retirement. If the people could opt out they could move from a maximum income of 22,000 per year income to an average income of over 72,000 at 7%. The established government believes that we are too dumb to take care of ourselves. Ron Paul is right. Be responcible for yourselves. Ask not what our country can do for us but ask what we can do for our country.
