I must admit when I first heard this (in 1977) I thought it was Leo Sayer (because at that time Leo had released 'When I Need You', and the vocals sounded almost similar), but once I got hold of a compilation album with this song on it, I knew who it was right away. R.I.P. Shirl, good song.
