  • Thanks for the review man! It helped me decide. I Just picked up the S&W 9mm sig last week for $219.00 at a gun shop in Georgia. It's a sharp looking gun and fires great too.

  • I have the 9mm and 40 cal, I love the both of them, oh yeah I have a glock 26 and like my s&ws better

  • this review helped my decision o get the gun....THANX BIG MAN

  • i got the same gun for the same price i didnt even know i can rapid fire .

  • I just got my sigma 9mm a few days ago is it anyway I can lighten up the trigger pull?

  • It's a magazine. Not a clip.

  • @MrTEXAN79 same thing mag, clip don't matter

  • you can carry with one in the chamber as long as the holster covering the trigger is covered. the lack of plus 1 in the chamber could possibly mean death in a emergency situation (assuming you are carrying). also, it does have safeties:

    - the long/stiff trigger pull

    - safety incorporated into the trigger (like the glock)

    - internal firing pin block (like the glock), ideally should not discharge even if thrown from a moving car.

But that's up to how comfortable you are with it. shoot safe.

  • 9mm its runs well

  • i have smith wesson sw9ve my was $ 328,00

  • great video bud. im looking @ buying one of these for target shooting. iv read alot of good stuff on these guns, however i'v heard over & over about it's terrible trigger pull. have u got out 2 shoot it anymore?

  • Congratulations! Great video, love the cycle. Just got my Sigma today, AR next month.

  • for the mag what that means is its for federal use only aka cops and stugg like that

  • Put about 2000 rounds through mine since Labor Day and not a single problem.

  • Hows the gun holdin up ? Have u had any problems yet?

  • Great video. I'm trying to decide on my first gun as well. I can't afford a Glock so I'm looking at the Sigma. Main complaint I've heard is the trigger pull but overall it's a solid gun.

  • You should have went with a ruger p95.

  • hey i dont want to come off the wrong way but the sigma series is based off the glock not to anger u if you already knew

  • To the guy that said removing the pigtail spring reduces that trigger pull by a third, well that's not even close to true. Not trying to start a fight, it's just not the case. I did the full trigger mod which involves removing the pigtail, and switching the outter spring to one with much less tension. You also need to sand down a few parts and lube it all up. Doing that reduces the trigger pull by 1/3 to roughly a half. Check out the video by mtridgee11. His video is spot on.

  • Your best investment would be for night sites if You intend to carry it, and I agree with it being the best gun for the price...I've always laughed when gun snobs brag their stuff up, then You outshoot them with a lesser priced gun...lol

  • I own the Sigma 40 cal, sweet, I love Smiths, also have the 686 plus .357

My Sigma 40 tends to jam on occasion with low power loads, I would suggest hotter loads, I personally think it's sprung for that.

I was shooting side by side with a big black guy at an indoor range and my patterns were so tight that it embarrassed him, and whatever handgun he was shooting with. So I was a little proud of my Sigma and my shooting ;-)

  • awsome video bro.. I love dat pistol gettin mines this week

  • Of course you bought a Sigma you dumbfuck.

  • where do you live? glocks are 400$ brand new!! you couldnt saved up 100$ more for the glock? thats a good gun, the only bad thing about it is the trigger pull, but other than that its a great gun!!!

  • where i live they sell new for only 250 lol and you dont need a safty becuase it has a 12 pound triger pull lol

  • Nice video I just bought the newer Smith and Wesson 9mm the SD9 it's my first guy I got it for 365.00 and I love it

  • I bought a Sigma SW40-V .40 calibre when the Sigma was first produced back in the nineties. If I'm not mistaken, the barrels and slides are actually interchangeable between the two weapons. I have the version with the grey polimer frame; I think it was only available the first year. They offered either black or grey. In my opinion, if is perfectly safe for concealed carry due to the stiffer trigger pull. Take down of the weapon for cleaning takes literally seconds. Great for the price.

  • I definately agree with you on the absence of an external safety. People can say what they want, but IMO you can never be too safe, and it definately doesn't hurt to have one. I also don't think it's the brightest idea to have the trigger be both the fire and (sort of) safety. But that's just me. It wouldn't stop me from purchasing the gun though. Just if I had an end of the day final decision on the design, I'd give it an external safety.

  • Bought my sw9ve at Academy Sports for $279.00 brand new.

  • you can carry +1 just how it is. Guns are not responsible for people shotting themselves accidently, PEOPLE are responsible for shooting themselves accidently. Keep your finger off the trigger and you wont have any problems when carrying. You don't need a safety, you already have a heavy trigger. Your finger is your safety

  • I suspect carrying one in the chamber would be no problem for you. The gun has a heavier trigger pull which makes it safer. I honestly notice no problems with the trigger as I prefer a heavy trigger for safety reason and the fact I usually shoot my Snub Nose Revolver. I am looking at getting one of these for my new carry piece.

  • Buck, i bought my pmm sigma black friday of 09. i'd hate to guess how many round i've fired (LOTS). it's performed well, no missfires, or hangups. i might not have bought the sigma had my SCCY 9mm not been a disappoinntment. you're right in saying that it's a good truck gun, but with some preperation i'm sure it'll work well as a carry. there may be better performers but for the money, it's tough to beat. i'll get a G26 or G27 next, but till then i'm pleased with the sigma. goodluck & be safe

  • i love glocks but im not gonna lie the sigma is a great pistol for the price.

  • You should of gotten the real deal! A GLOCK!!

  • got the same one on my 21st. the plus 1 is kind of irelivant with a 16 round clip anyways. But if u dont like the trig pull there are some great vids on here on how to take the pig tale spring out. I did and it cuts the pull down probably a third.

  • It was a decent video, but I never want to hear the word "um" again. Ever.

  • Dude you could have bought a ruger p95 for 300. The trigger on the sigma sucks as you know. P series rugers almost got the military contract for 9mm pistols. They came in third behind Beretta and Sig but passed all the tests from the military. They are heavy as hell but tough. Check out nutyn fancy review on the p95

  • Dude you could have bought a ruger p95 for 300. The trigger on the sigma sucks as you know.

  • Nice video. How many magazines did it come with?

  • You're a good guy. Thanks for the video.

  • Check your muzzle control, I know you safety checked, but you had the muzzle pointed at your cameraman at least twice that i saw just casually watching. Seems like a high value gun though. Happy shooting and be safe.

  • het fatass its a magazine not a clip

  • @BALJIT147 Wow stfu faggot, at least he owns a baddas gun.. you'll never get any closer to owning a gun than playing Call of Duty. So keepy your lame ass, ignorant comments to yourself kid.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI your probably the one who plays call of duty, your probably also a chubby chaser that doesn't know shit about guns like the fat ass that made the video

  • @BALJIT147 Oh and you do know about guns? Just because you come here, with your "expert knowledge" of magizines, and correct this dude because he said clip, dosen't mean you know or have shit. Like I said, go back to playing Call of Duty and leave the REAL guns in the hands of REAL men and grownups. Also, keep your fucking mouth shut until you can put up any video of worth.. because no one cares about watching a video of your dumbass dead dog.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI you even talk like you grew up in a trailer park, redneck idiot i never claimed to be some expert, any idiot knows the difference between a clip and a magazine, you keep talking about call of duty so i guess thats what you must be talking about, you don't even have any videos so your not in any position to talk shit, go troll someone else

  • Just got my Sigma but the .40 i love it cant find better for the price in my opinion.

  • I'm happy with my Sigma 9mm. Going to the range today or tomorrow. Raining here in San Diego today. Great video!

I've been thinking of modifying my trigger. How has it worked out for you, and how easy is it to do?

  • Dem clips.

  • I just bought mine for $475 with tax and state fee. ):

  • good video, and a nice looking gun, maybe it's no glock but its better looking and if it shoots well than thats what matters.

  • I have the exact same gun. Another great video. Very informative.

My friend just bought a Glock 17. Basically the same gun. Breaks down the same, etc. I really enjoy my Sigma.

    Keep the videos coming! Thanks!!

  • Nice gun. But why not a Glock? The Sigma is based on the Glock design.

  • got my sr9 for 350 but with only one clip......

  • got my sr9 for 350 but only one mag.

i love it...looking at getting one of these also.

  • I just picked one up for 350 otd tax and all, and with a 50$ mail in rebate and smith is sending me a free mag for a problem I had I will only be into it for 250 265, tops. I have a glock 19 and for the money this is a great gun. The only problme I had was reloads. But to be honost I had trouble with the lead reloads in other guns. They come with flash rings of lead that clog up the works. I think S&W may be on the rebound with these.

  • dont listen to these fucking haters dude, that sigma is a good all around pistol for the price. damn good gun for your first pistol. the early models when they first came out were crap but since then smith n wesson has fixed all the corks and flaws on it congrats on your first pistol may you accuire many many more.

  • you did research? man your got ripped off, trust me i have on, it blows. (magazine)

  • @TexasDistortion

Man your grammar sucks. Trust me I went to school, I know.

  • @ezcondition man, you sound like a pussy. I bet people hit you alot

  • @TexasDistortion glad you like the comment

  • i'm considering getting one of these soon, how has yours been treating you?

  • "kind of copied Glock"? It is so similar that Glock sued S&W over it and they reached an out of court settlement way back.

Definitely the hand gun bargain of the year. For what you pay you get a great S&W product that you will hand down to your grand children. That trigger will smooth out over time too.

Oh, btw that trigger configuration is an internal safety.

Great gun - great price (and Made in the US of A too)

    Happy shooting man!

  • Tweak the trigger and you'll really love it.

  • did you ever check out the ruger p95? Its in the same price range I believe.

  • The LE mags are of a higher capacity. S&W makes them in for example in 10rd and a 14rd for the .40

Some states have restrictions as far as the mag capacity.

  • That really is a good deal.

  • the safety is in the trigger man i use this as my conceal carry i always have it chambered when on my side

  • nice vid man..i just received this gun as a gift and im very excited to check it out! whats the best kind of ammo to purchase? Im a rookie, so pls dont laugh :)

  • should've got a glock man...

  • i totally agree with you ohbucki53,they should definitely add a safety,i always walk scared shitless when having a cartridge on the chamber lol im afraid one will go off on my leg when its in my holsters lol

  • remove the magazine first before checkin th chamber

  • nice video, just recently picked up the sigma 9mm and it seems like a great gun. in my opinion it's one of the best "bang for your buck" kind of pistols. like you said, for $300

  • the sigma was my first gun too, had it for a couple of years shot it a couple of times at the range and only problems i had was 3 jams out of 250 rds and trigger is too hard and feels wierd. and the front sight fell off and had to send it to s@w to replace for free. But not a bad gun for the price.

  • Great weaon! Really great vid!

  • beautiful gun! cant decide on a glock or the s&w sigma also! it's awesome gun!

  • original sigma had problems.. but they made some changes and the newer production "VE" (you have) is'nt bad, they're reliable but known for heavy triggers.

if you like manual safeties you probably wont like a glock, they do not have manual safeties instead it's part of the trigger just like your sigma, btw they are safe to carry +1 they have firing pin blocks so they wont go off if dropped.

in this price range you could have also got a ruger p95, but sigma also is a good first gun.

  • i scored a 98 on my cwp test with this model today. i like the gun-- and after today=-- not too worried about the lack of a manual safety. it's in the training and people do foolish things with guns with a safety. in hi stress situations-- you are at an advantage b/c you will not pull a dry trigger b/c you forgot to take the safety off

  • its between that and the glock 17 for me but im not sure i can afford the glock unfortunately so thanks for the info =)

  • it also has a life time warrenty. i'm thinking about getting this but i'm just not sure about carrying.

  • thanks for the test, I just ordered mine a day ago, even after hearing from everyone that the trigger is a problem, well this will be my first personal hand gun, shot a few friends guns but Ihave no other gun to compare it to, I am of similar build to guy in video so I thought I would be strong enough to pull it off, plus 10 years of guitar and other "personal" activities gives me my kung-fu grip ;), cant wait to get mine, even tho in Cali we only get 10 rounds, should work out fine

  • i jus bot minez da uther day im only 16.. my 3rd pistol....

  • There is a replacement spring for to adjust the trigger pull that rocks its wolff gunspring 30085 its a snap to install there are some vids on youtube you will be amazed at the difference they are about 10 to 14 bucks includ. shipping .

  • Magazine, not clip.

  • @projekt89130 oh man thanks for telling me i wouldnt have kown that without your comment. jackass

  • Anytime.

  • @projekt89130 It annoys me when people call it a clip haha.

  • but verry good video i like the info im also thinking bout getting one because of the price

  • thanx man im going out to get one in the morning. i want a glock but ill wait a couple months for it. but anything beats the jam-o-matic jeminez. i rather carry around my wasr-10 ak-47 lol

  • The wording on that mag is from the high cap baned.Only police and the arm forces could have high cap mags. That was part of the weapons baned of 1994.

  • @staglefty thanks for clearing that up dude!

  • hey dumb ass that bann was yes in 1994 but bill clinton only put a 10 year span on it so it was over 6 years ago just letting you know now in 2011 you can have high cap mag

  • @bamayou27 Unfortunately not in every state. Cali, Mass, NY, and HI are still 10rd states. 2A attorneys are working to try to remove it in Cali, but McCarthy (D-NY) is pushing for a new federal ban.

  • yea it was was between a sigma 9mm or a ruger p95 so glad i took the sigma but anyway the trigger pull is stiff at first but when you work it in its fine

  • ur fat

  • you are cool

  • very good Video....1. Fuck a safety on a defensive weapon because when u need u'll need fast. 2. +1 is the only true way to carry any weapon. U might not get the opportunity to rack that slide WSHTF. other then that keep up the good work and practice practice practice.

  • hey ohbucki53 have u tried the spring mod in ur sigma yet

  • yeh i did. It helped out alot thanks

  • What do you mean by spring mod? How wiil help with my gun?

  • Good video. I'm currently trying to decide between that, a used Sig P220, or a Ruger P45. Can anyone give me any feedback between these three? I can't just look past the value of the sigma. I can get one for 400 bucks with two free magazines and it's hard to pass up.

  • Glock has the same safety..KEEP your finger off the trigger until you want to shoot. :) Advice: Carry pepper spray too. A gun is your last defense. Shoot someone and it will cost you big $ in legal fees RIGHT OR WRONG. Good gun dude. I have all kinds and I mostly carry a North American arms 22 mag in a holster on my neck. I can have that fucker in my hand-in pocket ready should shit fly and they never know it. Try drawing a bigger gun from a holster,..it attracks alot of attention. BAD.

  • Glock 22 is a good gun but about twice the price. Once nice thing the glocks have a lot of aftermarket upgrades. Sigma does not have an upgraded op-rod [I made one out of steel], extended slide or mag release. Rumor to have a lower lb pull trigger group but I have not found one yet. One bit of advise GET some hearing and EYE protection!!!

  • The 10 pound trigger pressure is the safety. Glocks also has no outside safety.

  • The "restricted" mags are because of the Calif. laws. They only allow 10 in the mag. The 16s need to be labeled, as yours.

  • Nice choice man, I turn 21 this year. So I'm really thinking about purchasing it, my second choice that I want, is the ruger p95.

  • nice choice i got a 40 cal sigma myself

  • Very good gun for the price. I have shot at least 900 rounds through it. So far, only one fte and that was from my weak hand. These things go pop every time even with steel case Wolf ammo. Yes it does have heavy trigger pull at first but it will get lighter the more you use it.

  • good vid, I love my sigma

I bought it for my first pistol when i turned of age too soo it is a great buy for a first time pistol...

The trigger pull is very stiff and heavy at first but after a few hundred rounds it tends to smooth out, but it is GREAT for learning trigger control and not PULLING but SQUEEZING the trigger... AWESOME GUN!!

  • I pick up my sigma tomorrow. muahahaa. 9mm of course. cant find any ammo tho lol

  • What I do not understand is that the Smith and Wesson M&P has a safety on their 45 ACP not their 40 S&W M&P

I do not understand why they do that?

  • great price, around 380 where i be

  • i just bought a brandnew sigma 9mm from a private seller at a gun show here in TX yesterday and i wanted the sr9 but it was $100 more +it was from a licensed seller wich means you have to be 21 and im 20 but its all good cant wait to go to the range!!!

  • hi im the guy that sold him the clips my baby was hungrey and he wouldnt give me what i wanted for the clips but what do ya do

  • i want to see you shoot yourself lol big d

  • Is this guy a cop or military? NO he is a civilian. SO it doesnt matter if cops and military carry glocks because they're not this guy. Look up the limp wrist test and watch how the glock does haha its kinda funny.

  • why would you buy a used glock for $370.00 when you can get S&Ws version of the glock for $350 WITH a $50.00 mail in rebate.....

  • Thanks for the review man, I'm considering getting one of these and looking for whatever input I can get. Good job and have fun shooting.

  • I beleive the magazine message refers to the Brady Bill when double stack mags were limited to 15 rounds. I would recomend checking out a Kel Tec P3AT, it weighs about what one of magazines weighs loaded.

  • By the way with a good holster carrying a round in the chamber shoud not be a concern. I carry a g26 and lcp regularly a round in the chamber in both.

  • Decent review. Just do your self a favor next time and wear some hearing protection. Also how has the gun done since this video?

  • 2,650 rounds thru the gun now. not one missfire or jam or FTF nothing. . .

  • Also, you only shot 16 not 17. You didn't have one already in the chamber.

AND, there is a safety on the trigger - which is why it's a hard pull.

It's a self-defense pistol - there's no outside main safety because you shouldn't be fucking around with a safety when you're defending yourself from an attack!

  • wow man sorry your life sucks so bad, im glade you have youtube to vent some of your problems away. No need to be so angry bro, life is short lighten up a little. Im glade i could help out with your personal issues =0)

  • You're an idiot. It means RESTRICTED - LAW ENFORCEMENT AND GOVERNMENT USE ONLY. DOES THIS NEED TO BE ANY CLEARER?

  • well he DID put a little bubble correcting himself RIGHT AFTER he said that......does THAT need to be any clearer for you? you fuckin douche bag shut up and get off ohbucks nuts you pickle smoocher.

  • Thats wierd. Here in Australia Glocks are 950 new...and the SR9 which we are not allowed because of the barrel length...When it was coming was the same price. S&W here are ALOT more than a glock!!! Glocks are the cheapest if you eliminate all the REALLY bad copy brands like Norinco

  • wow that is weird

  • Nice video!

  • As an Ex sigma owner I can say this. The Sigmas only downfall is the trugger pull sucks worse then any double action i have ever fierd.

  • Hey nice choice for a inexpensive gun. I just picked up mine today and popped off a few when I got home. I love it ! About those mags. I think thats there disclaimer for California gun laws. Don't know for sure, but mine only comes with ten count mags.

    Happy gunning.

  • Good Gun. My buddy had one. No major problems. He's had it for two Yeats and I've seen it jam once. I recommend eye and ear protection. Have fun and be safe.

  • I fell into a deal i couldn't resist. I made a

trade and now own a 9mm Sigma with the

V2 laser system. I ran 50 rounds through

the gun. I was stunned how accurate this

little pistol is. Trigger pull is the key to

how well you shoot this pistol. My pistol

grouped much better that this pistol in

    the video.

  • I had the sw40v before and I hated it. What having a gun comes down to is user comfort/compatibility/reliability. However, you can't cheap out on something that could one day save your life. Good video though.

  • man sorry you hated it, i have shot 2,350 round thru mine now with not one jam or fail to feed or any problems what so ever. I dont feel i "cheaped out" but i understand your view

  • No safety, does it atleast have the handle push thing in the back?

  • Handle push safty? most guns like this glocks ect. dont have saftys

  • glocks do have safeties

  • Three safeties my friend.

  • Lol were you nervous or really excited to shoot that shit or what? haha you made a couple little mistakes as you know since you tagged it lol

  • Dude this gun is very similar to a Glock. S&W was actually sued over it because they used a lot of Glocks patend parts.....S&W put an extra spring for the trigger to get out of the lawsuit which is why the trigger has such a long and stiff pull. I have heard a lot of good things about this gun. Im actually turning 21 in march and I plan on getting this exact weapon. It sucks though because I live in Long Beach California and there is NOWHERE I can shoot it unless I go to a range.

  • i bought this gun last week GOOD GUN nice vid bro!

  • Nice vid bro! nothin wrong with the sw9ve. check out my chan when ya get a chance.

  • I dont think a sigma is a good first gun...unless you have experience

  • Nice video. The only gun that really gives you as good of a deal is the Ruger P95.

  • yeah, i did look at the ruger p95 also but personaly the looks were a big down fall for me. i also think it might of been a little heavyer but still it would be a good choice also

  • No, thats not a good deal. S&W right now has a 50.00 rebate or two free extra mags deal going on until the end of the year. Makes an already inexpensive pistol even better. Around here these guns are only 300-350.00 new.

  • I own the SR9 and you would have loved it! The trigger is awesome, accuracy is dead on! I did own the Sigma 40ve but the trigger was really killing me. Never had a fail to fire or any problems with the sigma and I think you may really like it. So I had to sell it.

  • Hi ohbucki53 -- JAMES from San Francisco. In California 10 round magazine is the limit. ALSO, I have heard of a man who specializes in trigger jobs for the Sigma pistol. Mr. Fred Smith 325-885-2700. LSG Mfg. This was recommended from the Smith & Wesson forum. Check it out - do a search and find photos and everything. Nice Video. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • Will do, thanks James

  • I wouldn't worry about the gun going off when you carry chambered, the Sigma uses a double action only trigger so the chances of it going off are slim, very slim. A pistol with a double action trigger works like a revolver in function, so the firing pin isn't even resting on the primer when its chambered, its cocks the firing pin and drops it in the same motion.

  • Bro,i just got one of these, i want to ask you, probably you can help me, i'm try to find the right holster for these gun, do you know which holster will fit ?

  • Well that depends on how you want to carry the gun. Personaly i only use this gun to carry "In the pants" holster style. For this type of carry I use a BLACKHAWK! size 7 "in the pants" holster and it fits fine. I paid $11 for it. hope this helps ya out bro

  • OK Bro,thanks for answer my question,i'm gonna try that one.

    again,thank you.

  • nice vid!

  • thanks!

  • nice video. if u still don't know and no one mentioned it, the reason ur mags have the restricted Gov use only markings is because from 1994 to 2004 there was a mag ban that limited mags to 10 rounds. During the ban they still made hi caps for LE and Military. So they marked the mags for that purpose only. For everyone else they made 10 round mags. This was part of the "Assault Weapons ban"

  • wow That never crossed my mind! thanks for the info!

  • i am between this and a glock 17 someone help me plese

  • It depends on your $ situation man if you have the money go for the Glock if you want to save some cash and still have a good gun get the s&w. I have shot 2100 round thru mine now with zero problems if that helps you at all...let me know

  • i have the cash for the glock and that is what i was going to get but then my bud said to cheack this one out now i am stok but i will go with the glock most likely

  • That was a helpful video it changed my mind about a smith and wesson and now I think I am going to get one someday!

  • I have put 2100 rounds through it with not a single problem. You cant go wrong. thanks for the comment

  • Comment removed

  • i have this pistol and man it sucks compared to my others

$309???? wow i payed over 500 for mines...im in california

but yea i bought the pistol with intentions of engraving a oakland raiders shield on it because of the colors

for $300 its a cool pistol

but for $500(what i paid) its a bad pistol

  • Well Im in Ohio so our states have very diffrent views on gun rights thats probly why yours was so high all the extra taxes. But i do agree $500 is to much for the sw9ve you can find alot better but the key is the price I paid $309. . . you cant touch any other gun in its range for that price

  • Glocks don't have a safety either!

  • I think almost everyone knows that.. . .

  • Bersa thunders are around the same price...but the Sigma is better built gun
