I have to say, Cindy's English is, uh, acceptable. Did they get a native speaker to do her English lines or something? The read doesn't sound like an actress, more like some white woman they pulled off the street.
@EponymousKid i believe they got a native speaker, i think in the next episode, cindy says something in english, but its a whole different voice, like, it seemed to ber her japanese VA trying to talk in english. and guess what, she couldnt say it really well.
@bombuchu I think the subs were in the actual Japanese broadcast; there's a lot of simple spelling, grammatical, and syntactical errors in them, I imagine a staff member who knew a little English listened to the scene and wrote down what he heard.
@humrH2360 that's partialy due to the fact that when the blonde chick speaks they have a different, natively english speaking voice actor do those parts.
Really, English is one of the easier languages to get decent at because of its standard word order (subject-verb-object, for example) and other grammar rules. It's difficult to master because of all the idiosyncrasies in spelling and pronunciation. Japan, on the other hand, has easy spelling rules, and very easy pronunciation, but the different parts of its grammar, such as suffixes that show the part of speech, can be difficult to learn.
Ika's English is really good, although she does have a slight Japanese accent. Cindy has incredibly good English, yet her Japanese seiyuu is probably not that good with English so obviously they hired another seiyuu to do her English speaking roles.
@warhawk9566 If you speak japanese and English languages maybe ESPECIALLY if you are talking to yourself which I do a lot cuz i have nothing to do in my life
@warhawk9566 well, i once learned Chinese and a Chinese woman said i would have no accent.... .since japanese isn't that different i would assume: no!
@warhawk9566 most often in recent, only we sound as stupid as it sounded here.
While the base grip of English sounds alot like this from Japanese people, when they really learn it with any ounce of care, its always gonna sound better than when we try with all of our might to learn and speak japanese.
@warhawk9566 My parents are both Mexican and from Mexico so i'm fluent in Spanish, yet have a "white" accent for whatever reason(both my older brothers and little sister speak Spanish with no accent,i'm the only one who sounds "white") also the oldest speaks French, Portuguese on top and the other German on top of Spanish and English
Yeah we all sound weird speaking a foreign language,as long as we under stand each other i don't care what you sound like.
0:18 That's a different person, isn't it? lol
