  • Was this the short lived sat morning show in 87 Davy was discussing? That show was pretty cheesy and easily forgotten after it was cancelled

  • @screamking1 Yeah, but the music was pretty good!

  • @decay1966 So he was talking about that tv show eh?

  • I think Davy is refreshingly honest. He says what he thinks. And since he was one of the Monkees, he's entitled to have an opinion. Some Monkee fans are very critical of Davy. He doesn't deserve it. All 4 Monkees seem like very nice guys to me. They don't have to agree on every point, nor get along 100% of the time. If you listen to the interviews on YouTube, you will find that, overall, all 4 respect and are supportive of one another, and there is great affection there for one another.

  • @Chiselnyc This video clip isn't about showing whether the Monkees like each other or get along. I bet Davey and the other guys are great people, it's just that this video clip shows Davey's hypocrisy when it came to The New Monkees. He's basically saying that there could be New Monkees as long as the Monkees had their hand in the pot. Which to tell you the truth, would have been a great idea!!

  • @decay1966 Perhaps you've heard the interview too where Micky said he'd been asked to direct the New Monkees, but turned it down. He thought a big mistake was not calling the new group another name.

  • @Chiselnyc I have seen that interview, but again, this video clip is about Davey. And it's true, it may have been a mistake not to give the television show another title. It's just a weird conundrum because "The Monkees" was a television show and never in the history of television did a fictitious band go out and become a 'real' band. So it was kind of unchartered ground :)

  • the New Monkees was a retarded idea no one could replace them

  • @TheMonkeesRock On the contrary .... David Jones believes that if he had a say in who was cast in the new television show, The Monkees would have been okay with it.

  • @decay1966 Yeah but its still dumb.

  • @decay1966 No wonder your telling me this. You like the new monkees. Perhaps better??? Hope not. The Monkees are better (the oiginal) Im only 14 and I like the monkees. Bleh. The New Monkees should of made their own tv show instead of remaking the monkees. Thank goodness they didnt remake the songs and the show never got aired. Bummer for them though. But I still think their dumb for trying to remake them

  • Take it down a notch Davy, they weren't supposed to be you guys.

  • Gee, I always thought that it was DON KIRSHNER who created the Monkees.

  • @howellfilm Nope.

  • @decay1966 After more research, I've discovered that you're right..sorry. But, Don WAS a force in the Monkee machine.

  • @howellfilm It wouldn't have mattered how many of them might have been okay with it, because the public wasn't okay with it, and with good reason; the concept was a disaster from inception.

  • @howellfilm Sorry about that, howellfilm; that reply was directed to decay1966's reply to TheMonkeesRock.

  • Does the pig have a whistle embedded in its throat? If not, the pig (hog) is a rock star.

  • @RedAntBlackAnt what does that mean

  • You forgot EASY RIDER among Rafelson's credits --- one very long weekend in Ojai with a coupla POUNDS of Tijuana Gold, and ALL of the involved Monkees & staff, with Dennis Hopper & Jack Nicholson, pounded-out that screenplay.

I'm grateful that I missed-out entirely on this sad/pathetic "New Monkees" shit --- like many greats before it, SOME SHOWS DON'T *NEED* TO BE ***REMADE***. Almost as bad as that "Scarlett" sequel to GWTW, only with fewer tits.

  • @AnntichristSCoulter

In regards to Rafelson's credits, I was only speaking about SOME of his directorial projects, not projects produced by BBS. As for the " one very long weekend in Ojai with a coupla POUNDS of Tijuana Gold, and ALL of the involved Monkees & staff, with Dennis Hopper & Jack Nicholson " that all sounds a bit like folk lore written in some Monkees biography.

  • @decay1966 The comment about the long weekend was first talked about in a book about Jack Nicholson and later confirmed by the Monkees and I believe Jack himself. Dennis Hoppper and Jack wrote the screenplay to Easy Rider on another weekend, I think. As for Davy's comments, I don't tink he was referring to BBS but more towards Straybert Productions. Esp Steve Blauner. But, being a Monkees fan myself, I'll be the first to admit that Davy is a jerk. Great vids, Decay. Keep them coming.

  • I think Davy is talking about the producers of The New Monkees show. Which wasn't quite the same as the original.

  • @ruberto53 he was. I have that original interview.

  • Comment removed

  • You'll have to take that up with Mr. Jones.

  • huh, that was an interesting little clip...

    thanx for sharing.
