  • is it a gripen?

  • you can't fly this airplane at all when the computer system malfunctions, its built unstable...as the video shows, it just falls out of the air. nothing to do at all for the pilot but eject...

  • OMG :'(

  • Lol it did a cobra.

  • Why is it I always see a flash in the cockpit of every jet crash video right before they crash? Watch the b-52 crash and it has the same thing and its not the ejection seat on this video it happens in the first second

  • @JISINSANE3 explosives mounted on the windshield to blast it away, winding down the window would be a lot slower

  • So, 240p, we meet again.

  • And I thought SAABs were safe and durable.

  • it´s from industrigruppen

  • Gripen wasínt a saab

  • Cobra is only for SUs, MiGs and F-22

  • This test pilot has bailed TWICE in his career...

  • I've never heard a good thing about about a SAAB. He should have gone with a Honda or Toyota.

  • If it says SAAB the seat had better say Martin Baker!

  • Good ol Martin Baker eh, quick thinking pilot

  • That was close !

  • Lord ! he nearly destroyed a church building by letting this aircraft do a free fall like that ! Saving ONE life and risking 200 "in church" !! He ejected a Bit too early, if i was him i would FIRST make sure the aircraft is NOT endangering people's lives below me, once that is clear, ONLY then I would eject. I will NEVER drop an aircraft on innocent people's heads ! EVER !

  • @tebogomotlhale Easy to say when you have plenty of time to think about it. He had six seconds to decide to eject. This was still a prototype aircraft and during the airshow, the control software failed. At that point it was like flying a bus, he had no control over the aircraft what so ever. Staying with it any longer at that altitude would have severely lowered his ejection vectors and he could have been killed. A second longer could have been a second too late. He made the right choice.

  • @tebogomotlhale You may try your best not to - and he may have also tried his best not to. It is very very very easy to criticise when you have zero understanding.

If he has no control, he has no control - and staying in to die would have made zero impact where the plane ended up...

  • @tebogomotlhale You have never, or ever will be in a situation where you will have to make this decision! Let me tell you, when your life is in danger, self preservation takes over! Its called instinct. Trust me, when your strapped into an uncontrollable jet less than 10 seconds from hitting the ground, you are not thinking about the lovely church below you. You pull the handle and get out and worry about the consequences later.

  • impressive

  • well first glad he's okay second DAMN!!!that looked like a pianful bellie flop for the grippen. @saptono yeah there great except you can only eject three time before you lose your wings due to compression on your spine.

  • I always admire ejection seats. They always work amazingly. How they design and built it?

  • I thought it was Pugachev's Cobra at first

  • FAKEEEEEEEEEE!!!

  • @schefdeh5 This is not fake, if i remember right it happened in Stockholm and no casulties from the planewreck. There is another incident with the same typ of jet, cant remember if it was landing or taking off, though that time the pilot couldnt eject but survived anyway. Correct me if im wrong.

  • @schefdeh5 Its not fake, happend 8 August 1993 in Stockholm Sweden.

  • @PantsuGirl

    Sooooo fake

  • hello nice eject seat

  • BURNING MONEY!!!!

  • He missed the church.

  • So we meet again, 240p :/

  • 'Enough, I stop right here'

  • Saab Cobra Rofl ( =

  • Pilot Induced Oscillation. It happens when the software and/or hardware lag behind the user. It can happen on PCs too so maybe you have experienced it yourself when the mouse pointer lag behind your input?

  • The pilot and plane got into oscillation. The pilot was inexperienced with the reactions of the control software. As you can see the plane was designed to self-stabilize so after the pilot ejected it levelled out to make a flat descent. Thank the lucky stars no people got seriously hurt. This marked the end of public airshows inside the capital city of Stockholm. At least using prototype military aircraft.

  • Silly Gripen ur not a Raptor

  • @xXxKARNALKrKx good one!

  • @xXxKARNALKrKx Hm, raptors have its share of problems.

  • Jas 39 Gripen, crash in Stockholm 8 augusti 1993.

The jetfighter crashes 1,5 km from from the church (högalidskyrkan) on a smal island called långholmen.

Pilot was ok and no one got injured on the ground, a lucky disaster.

  • I like the sarcastic dark smoke that comes out after a jet crashes.

  • i think this plane still can be control

  • did the pilot survive?

  • @Aizenvsanyonedontmix Yes and so did everybody else. This was during an air show over Stockholm (not an airfield) with thousand of spectators. The plane crashed pretty much on the only few square meters were there were no people in the whole city...

  • @Aizenvsanyonedontmix

Yup! This was his second accident with the Gripen, it was the same pilot crashing the first prototype.

  • lesson learned, you CAN'T do a Cobra Maneuver with a Grippen!

  • @maydayfire actually you can

  • Die Kirche nur knapp verfehlt

  • I can tell you what fighter craft it is you probably dont want to know but anyway it is called a gripen fighter aircraft

  • pugachev cobra go wrong

  • Dude if you can't stand for that G force, don't do it...what t he fuck have you been smocking???

  • nice vid... 5*****

  • the Gripen is a great aircraft but that what happens to any other plane than su-27 which tries to pop the cobra.

  • This is a SAAB JAS 39 "Gripen". It happened during a Water-festival airshow in Stockholm and one person on the ground was slightly injured. The pilot was the same thar crashed another "Gripen" prototype (seen here on "SAAB Gripen Crash"). The pilot quit his testpilot jobb after this...

The computer software was to blame for both crashes. It wasn't fully developed and overcompensated during certain manouevers.

  • Whoops. I am sure it is still salvageable

    NOT!!!

  • This is a pilot for anything, he just destroyed a game of $ 76 million for malpractice, he is a gay!

  • He's may be a gay fighter jet pilote!! as you said but... just to let you know, the way and the speed the plane is pitching up is mostly the case of a flight control failure!!! which case do not let you much time to think what's going on!!! specially at that height!

  • @5000Eder And you think you would be that brave to stay in? That's just stupid..

  • Dieses Pilotprojekt ist Homosexuell und Angst!

  • its a Saab Gripen with the front canards the one you said has got the double delta wings

  • He could of saved it

  • how? not a chance at that height and the thing was way out of control.

  • the jet had an electrical malfunction and caused the flight controls to go hay wire and fail. the plane basically stopped flying and fell out of the air.

  • Was he trying to pull a "cobra"?
