if anyone read the book, they would know that the people who go in are not a family but a proffesor and his son and an icelandic guide who barely talks, as in there were no women. the main bulk of the book was also, by the way, about going in not getting out. and they dont get chased by dinosaurs. in other words, this doesnt seem to follow the movie.

They really do like to use the poetic license, now don't they? Jules Verne didn't write about 2 kids and their 'Uncle Trevor'. I can't remember the names, except for Hans, but they were all adults, even though one was the professor's nephew.

It's not a total adaption, it's a modernized version of some people who actually go to the center of the Earth based from seismograph readings from the center of the Earth that proved Jules Verne's theory of what the Earth looked like in Journey to the Center of the Earth true.

I just hope the movie isn't a very off adaption of the book like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the original script for the movie WAS written by Adams but it wasn't finished and was edited by the director & another).
