I came across PP from viewing other modern sopranos on YT. First heard, Lascia-perfection. Heard her do Mozart-adventurous.Checkedout the Christie work, the Baroque, the pieces with Susan M...went out & bought the CDs.Cant get enough of her.Expression, sense of joy and spirit of voice. If somebody forms a Patty Petibon fan club, I will be first on the list to join!!,John from australia
@sandrovally :thanks for mentioning Schiavo, another soprano who is doing great work&another girl who doesnt get enough recognition! Wil view and listen to her on Youtube.Checked her out on Wikipedia; Looks like she is carving out a career and has good taste with her chosen performances. All the best, john
She must be the most underrated of sopranos on the planet at this time.I find some sopranos overpowering(dont have to mention names, you know who they are). With Patricia, you are invited into the singing procedure, not being sung at.Love watching her perform with Susan manoff on the Piano.A great combination of accompaniment and voice, precisely tuned:A pure sense of joy in the creation of the work comes through.
She is the ultimate voice for the French Baroque, along with Gens and Delunsch. Full of charm, color, and elan but not too agile enough for Italian/Handelian vocal virtuosity like Piau, who's Faustina incarnate.
Yeah but the most of the italian baroque repertoire was written for castrati(male and female roles) and right now there is no singer capable to do all the vocal fieworks that the castrati used to do
this has got to be one of my favorite arias, and patricia petibon is one of my favorite singers!!!!
i have to say, that even though the production is probably "eurotrash" it still looks like it would be a lot of fun!! (some other eurotrash on the other hand...)
Newer liked this kind of music much but this Opera is just perfect in every way. It's like a Peter Greenaway movie, lots and lots of odd things going on everywhere and this Patricia Petibon is like someone said rock'n roll.
1730's, I knew the music sounded a bit baroque, but I was thinking of how starnge the French aristocracy was in the 1780's, really they were a bit looped through the whole century though
Today I see on tv the entyre version. I enjoy it very much. Music seems fresh and new with this amazing "mise en scène" . I¨m glad to have the opportunity to see some parts again.
Amazing voice! She certainly proves a soprano doesn't have to have a large body to project a really powerful voice.
