I've never seen this guy on tour. So he's some amateur? His back swing is way to big he'll never get any distance that way. If I ever saw this guy on the range I'd happily give him some tips on power.
@bigsleep32 Are you on drugs or what? Jamie cooked Watson, Johnson and Garrigus by 50 yards in Hawaii prior to the season opener. Jamie is widely recognised as the longest hitter on the planet.
@bigsleep32 You have no idea who this is do you? He's not a pro, he competes in long drive competitions. These guys don't have the golf game to play on tour, because they'd get shredded.
@bigsleep32 haha.. fail as in failure at being aware about who he is... and a troll is someone who trys to fuck with you by bullshitting about something
@MRUFC12345 Jamie Sadlowski is a scratch golfer and a fine player, but he practises hitting big shots all day long.. the pga is all about the short game.
im pretty sure it is jamie. if you look at the video description it is of him right after the junior worlds. he won the re/max long drive back to back in 08 and 09. this video was posted in feb of 07, so the 07 re/max long drive is still around 8 months away, where he placed 4th.
@cameltryde Keeping your head still in the golf swing would result in a very poor golf swing. There should be slight lateral and elevation changes throughout the swing. You cant coil and uncoil properly without moving your head.
@ninjaaron95 That is defiantly jamie, in 2007 he was using Geek at Worlds, he may not look the part in the video to u but everybody had to start somewhere. 100% recognizable swing though, any long driver would recognize his swing and that is IT!
@asxtc Ya, it is. Reason being is that people don't say that they aren't. There have actually been cases, like with the Ping G2 when it first came out where it isn't even legal for LDA events but is legal for PGA events. Add 1/4 of an inch to and of my Adams and they would be illegal for longdrive but still legal on the PGA tour
@fitzy845 well not if u play from champinonship tees. i average 240-250 with a fade (which i like to hit) and i really need to rip it on some holes, so in tournaments, no that wont be good on hard courses
He could probably use no more than an 8 iron and have a single digit handicap. Up 4 iron scratch. Such an advantage to be long like that-plus I bet he is fairly straight too!
i mean ya its great to be able to drive that far but i still rather just be an overall good golfer. not just hit 400 yard drives one right then one left and one eventually down the middle. golf is a great game and is the best if ur good at all parts of the game. not saying he is bad though
he's not the world GOLF champion, he's the world LONG DRIVE champion.
It's like you're going into a MotorGP race and tell Rossi that you rather just be a stunt rider... (hey, good chance he'll beat you at that too just like Jamie will beat you in golf)
reason why he hits it so hard is because he overturns his shoulders on top of that he cocks both of his wrist... BOTH of them, and the he rips his hips through and he has pure contact
9*? weird cuz he usually hits 6.5-7.5* drivers. was his launch really high with this setup? and what happened to his HOF shaft? the guy and his swing def look like him, so i doubt it's someone else.
@bumswick ah true, now i remember his cobra drivers before signing with adams. the shafts i can understand- thanks for letting me know man. but what's up with the unusually high loft of 9*? pretty sure he's had a similar swing for a while, so having something nearly 2-3* higher doesn't make sense to me =/
@MAlatinboy Ya,, I don't know other than it may have been him experimenting with different head/shaft combos to find the right mix. I have seen a couple guys in the worlds hitting 9*. Must just be part of the quest for the perfect setup for ones individual swing. Maybe not,, too. LOL
I remember watching this guy on Youtube a few years back and thinking pound for pound he could end up being the longest guy but was too small to compete with the really beefed up big, tall long hitters. This guy proved me wrong ,he is phenominal.
When you're the longest driver in the world, and weigh less then 180lbs, you are doing something right. And by something right, I mean a hell of a lot right.
USGA club length is measured at address to 48 inches max. LDA measures club length vertically to 50 inches max. Who cares about the wording. Both of you are arguing mute points.
I think I more than covered how both measure club length. In this case, wording was the barrier to his understanding. I think you were looking for "moot".
Hate to tell you this, but you average no where near 314 with a 106ss. Unless you are playing on some extremely hard fairways and downhill. Most people over estimate their distance though.
u are so full of shit....a swing speed of 106(6 mph below the tour average) would produce a carry distance of 265 MAX i prime weather conditions.....u dont average 310 for shit unless u are playing baked out fairways in the hot desert and getting 50 yards of roll...
it has nothing to do w/ thinking what i want....its mere physics....avg clubhead speed on tour is 112 and the avg. driving distance is 288.....and those are on firm fairways....so the avg. tour pro is carrying the ball around 270 and trust me they hit the ball SOLID....so if u are swinging 106MPH and catch the center of the face the MAX distance u are carrying the ball is 260 or so....i u step up on a 300 yard par 4 all carry over water u dont have a prayer in hell, sorry..
@MFBueno63 while you are correct about the golf swing being about physics, your numbers are a bit off, i swing at around 105-115 and *carry* the ball around 285-290, the average tour pro gets around 25-30 yards of roll of their ball and the average tour swing speed is actually closer to 105 mph
nope...those numbers are dead on....sorry.....the avg. clubhead speed on tour 105???? lol.....not even close.....its 112 like i said....Tiger is around 120 mph and carries the ball 290-300.....
i hit the ball very solid, my clubhead speed is 115 w/ a ball a ball speed of 170....i carry it 280 or so.....
Long drive competitions are for guys who cannot putt, chip, pitch, and hit iron shots...you can't really call them golfers...i think they're more on the level of those guys who play putt-putt golf tourneys
I find it funny that people need to break apart these guys in long drive because they annialate any Pro off the tee, and assume that they can't golf. His swing won him $250,000 in 08 at the worlds.
A group of 5 Long Drivers wupped 5 of California's best Pros in a tourney recently. Long Drive is not about putting chipping and low scores, it is about sheer distance. Jamie would crush all of you that need to nit pick his swing, b/c he makes you feel small off the tee. And he is clos to scratch.
sure they did, keep in mind that while jamie maybe made 250k tiger hauled in what, 100m? from tour winnings and endorsement money? sorry but i think the real money is where you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to play a complete game of driving, mid game, recovery, chipping, putting, etc. i'm sure these guys can golf. another point is that these guys swing with oversized shafts and (usually) a very low lofted driver, around 4* or so
There are many aspects to the game of golf that can be enjoyed, what is the purpose of any of it if you don't enjoy it. Putting chipping don't win you anything in a Long Drive competition. Just like sinking a basket won't win you the Stanley cup.
Regarding the longer shaft and low loft heads, I have 3 of them one at a full 50 inches, and the timing flexibility, and speed needed to create a good swing with these is an art. Not unlike chipping putting or hitting a baseball beyond average.
yea and how many good courses do you go to where you can drive 400 yards safely down a wide open fairway the size of the grid? my point is that golf is about the complete player, these guys can crush the ball, but who knows if they would be able to compete on the tour?
longer shaft = more distance
lower loft= less spin, lower trajectory= more distance
longer shaft + lower loft = not "normal" results that would apply to the course
In the video they said its a 9*. Jamie used a 9* head to win one of his jr. championships and to take 3rd in worlds back in 07. Most guys use around 6 or 7*. longdrivers want the same thing as every pga pro, high launch and low spin.
yea-no..... long drivers don't want a high launch, are you kidding me? they want high ball speed off the tee, but a high launch would negate having a 6 or 7 degree head (which gives you more roll)... a high launch would prevent as much roll, why do you think pga pros work on bringing their launch trajectory down? because YOU DON'T WANT A HIGH LAUNCH if you are trying to hit the ball far
Wrong. Of course they want a fairly high launch with very low spin. The ball is tee'd very high, way in the front of their stance so they can hit a low loft driver on the up swing producing low spin. Go watch their drives, they are no line drives. Many times the grids have crap for roll compared to tour fairways. Tee it high and let it fly..............
Wrong. USGA legal length and LDA legal length is the same. The only difference is the way they are measured. Entire measured length is 48" USGA and 50" LDA, but they are the same length club.
you sure about that? no that i am unsure i am right, i am just giving you a chance to take that comment off of there.... if that were the case then why would they put graphics up about how the long drivers use a LONGER driver.... your little point makes absolutely no sense.... read this out loud "entire measured length is 48" USGA and 50" LDA..." now pay attention because this is the good part"..., but they are the same length club." BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

u are so full of shit....a swing speed of 106(6 mph below the tour average) would produce a carry distance of 265 MAX i prime weather conditions.....u dont average 310 for shit unless u are playing baked out fairways in the hot desert and getting 50 yards of roll...
MFBueno63 1 year ago
that's fine.... you can think what you want, but on 300-320 yard holes i'm putting it on or over the green
grenerd84 1 year ago
it has nothing to do w/ thinking what i want....its mere physics....avg clubhead speed on tour is 112 and the avg. driving distance is 288.....and those are on firm fairways....so the avg. tour pro is carrying the ball around 270 and trust me they hit the ball SOLID....so if u are swinging 106MPH and catch the center of the face the MAX distance u are carrying the ball is 260 or so....i u step up on a 300 yard par 4 all carry over water u dont have a prayer in hell, sorry..
MFBueno63 1 year ago
@MFBueno63 while you are correct about the golf swing being about physics, your numbers are a bit off, i swing at around 105-115 and *carry* the ball around 285-290, the average tour pro gets around 25-30 yards of roll of their ball and the average tour swing speed is actually closer to 105 mph
golfhead15 1 year ago
nope...those numbers are dead on....sorry.....the avg. clubhead speed on tour 105???? lol.....not even close.....its 112 like i said....Tiger is around 120 mph and carries the ball 290-300.....
i hit the ball very solid, my clubhead speed is 115 w/ a ball a ball speed of 170....i carry it 280 or so.....
MFBueno63 1 year ago
yes they can.. if hes above 6'0 and has a nice swing (which he has 100-110mph) then its very possible, my dad 180lb 6'3 swings 110 and drives 340

Long drive competitions are for guys who cannot putt, chip, pitch, and hit iron shots...you can't really call them golfers...i think they're more on the level of those guys who play putt-putt golf tourneys

u don't need much power in golf is a technic sport
ankon12 2 years ago 2
long drive is all about tempo, rythm, power, and speed. u dont need to have tiger swing to be long driver.

A long drive competition swing is always unconventional, why would anyone dissect his swing?
brmadman4455 2 years ago
A little unconventional form, but hey if it works why change it!

And he is clos to scratch.
bumswick 2 years ago
sure they did, keep in mind that while jamie maybe made 250k tiger hauled in what, 100m? from tour winnings and endorsement money? sorry but i think the real money is where you ABSOLUTELY HAVE to play a complete game of driving, mid game, recovery, chipping, putting, etc. i'm sure these guys can golf. another point is that these guys swing with oversized shafts and (usually) a very low lofted driver, around 4* or so
grenerd84 2 years ago
There are many aspects to the game of golf that can be enjoyed, what is the purpose of any of it if you don't enjoy it. Putting chipping don't win you anything in a Long Drive competition. Just like sinking a basket won't win you the Stanley cup.
Regarding the longer shaft and low loft heads, I have 3 of them one at a full 50 inches, and the timing flexibility, and speed needed to create a good swing with these is an art. Not unlike chipping putting or hitting a baseball beyond average.
bumswick 2 years ago
yea and how many good courses do you go to where you can drive 400 yards safely down a wide open fairway the size of the grid? my point is that golf is about the complete player, these guys can crush the ball, but who knows if they would be able to compete on the tour?
longer shaft = more distance
lower loft= less spin, lower trajectory= more distance
longer shaft + lower loft = not "normal" results that would apply to the course
grenerd84 2 years ago
In the video they said its a 9*. Jamie used a 9* head to win one of his jr. championships and to take 3rd in worlds back in 07. Most guys use around 6 or 7*. longdrivers want the same thing as every pga pro, high launch and low spin.
fmndmn 2 years ago 2
yea-no..... long drivers don't want a high launch, are you kidding me? they want high ball speed off the tee, but a high launch would negate having a 6 or 7 degree head (which gives you more roll)... a high launch would prevent as much roll, why do you think pga pros work on bringing their launch trajectory down? because YOU DON'T WANT A HIGH LAUNCH if you are trying to hit the ball far
grenerd84 2 years ago
Wrong. Of course they want a fairly high launch with very low spin. The ball is tee'd very high, way in the front of their stance so they can hit a low loft driver on the up swing producing low spin. Go watch their drives, they are no line drives. Many times the grids have crap for roll compared to tour fairways. Tee it high and let it fly..............
kevinlikesboys 2 years ago
actually they usually play around 6* and the legal limit of the shaft is 48 in, im 13 and 5"6 and i play a 44.5 in
DaleGaines 2 years ago
yea legal length is 48 inches for USGA, not long drive, they use 52 inch shafts
grenerd84 2 years ago
Wrong. USGA legal length and LDA legal length is the same. The only difference is the way they are measured. Entire measured length is 48" USGA and 50" LDA, but they are the same length club.
kevinlikesboys 2 years ago
you sure about that? no that i am unsure i am right, i am just giving you a chance to take that comment off of there.... if that were the case then why would they put graphics up about how the long drivers use a LONGER driver.... your little point makes absolutely no sense.... read this out loud "entire measured length is 48" USGA and 50" LDA..." now pay attention because this is the good part"..., but they are the same length club." BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
