i like the modonna version better, i don't know why, i guess i'm used to it... hahah i've watched Evita (the musical form which this song came) a million times, and personally madonna doe sit best, though i will say they have amazing voices.

@crazymusicalgoof7 Its from the musical Evita "which concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, who did a lot for the people of Argentina. The song 'Dont cry for me Argentina' appears early in the second act as Evita addresses the crowd from the balcony of the Casa rosada and features a sweeping melody tied to broad emotional themes of regret and defiance"... erm yeh...hope that helps :D

@yrti0121 Ha ha, I suppose the 'did a lot for the people of Argentina' depends on the Argentinian you speak to. I have a friend who started singing this in front of a friend from Argentina and he flipped out (not in a good way). Many people "disappeared" under Peron's reign.

@TheDramaQueen It wasn't under Perón's reign when people "disappeared", it was during the dictatorship of Videla and two more. Perón ruled before this happens. Even though many people don't like Perón or Evita either.
