I think I see a little difference. The polygons on the tree's have raised up quite a bit, and if you were to go to a rocky surface, you could have DEFINITIVELY been able to tell.
@dkamm65 I don't really think exodo111 is a 12 year old.
Besides I don't know of any parents who buys their underage children a powerful graphics card.
Even on like my 13th birthday, my mom thought that a crappy camcorder that looks worse then VHS and sounds worse then a Super 8 camera was good enough for my age even though I really wanted a good camcorder.
There are just two difference between dx9 and dx10 when running crysis. The water becomes much better in Dx10 and you will see sun rays cutting and passing through trees and your guns. That is all the difference
@mrcrazyenough007 The difference you see is because DX9 only allows you to select up to a maximum of high settings via the menu options, but you can force very high manually if you modify some game files.
@mrcrazyenough007 It's an old story, it turned out 2 weeks after the game came out in 2007, that the dx10 very high setting is a scam. If you modify the cfg, it looks identical. But the dx10 version has a serious memory leak issue. I have 4 gigs of ram and on the last level the Windows crashes, it takes almost 15 minutes to get to the desktop because the game is swapping as hell. Damn you, Crytek, learn some programming tricks. Crysis 2 dx11 is a shame as well.
DX9.0c is capable of almost everything that DX10 is capable of. That's a dirty little secret that Microsoft didn't want anyone to know about when Vista was released with DX10 and not for XP. There's a few things you want to leave off when forcing very high in DX9, but for everything else it looks almost the same and runs faster. Have you ever actually tried it or are you just running your mouth without knowing what you're talking about?
@IRONMAN255550 You can force very high setting in DX9 with some tweaking of the games files. The menus options don't allow very high, but you can do it anyway.
Correct. Some people really need to do some research before spouting off on what's possible and what isn't. Forcing very high in DX9 has been known almost as long as Crysis has been out.
ended this game two times one on high on nvidia 8600gt then on very high on ati 4830 and can tell that there is very much difference among dx9 and dx10.
@dkamm65 this cant be the case because i was very much interested in all these benchmarks and visual differences and played on xp, vista and windows 7. Best result (frames and visuals) came with windows 7. Vista was bit heavy. there is hell of a diff b/w dx9 and 10. Also checked some other games on both DX like GTA4 which had also too dark shadows in DX10
@dkamm65 better frame rates a/c to dx10 i mean. i got 25 to 30fps on all very high and 1440x900 with AA off on E5200 @ 4ghz 2GB ram and 4830 ddr3. It was fine playable. And i experienced changed in shadows and in sunlight. But not in night times. Most of the change in day time during sunlight.
The only difference I notice with DirectX 10 is lighting. DX10 adds more bloom. And I guess DX10 affects water as well. Other than that, I can hardly tell them apart.
its 2 seperate videos synced together.. but thats not the point of the video.. the point it to compare dx10 to 9 and im sry but i do see a difference.
Okay, then tell me why the weapon sway is moving identically at the beginning, but by the end it's not in time, even though he's walking at the same speed through the whole video. Explain how I could do that with the exact same video.
Umm... This is the same video, there is no difference, Its not 2 videos split in half, If it was it would be completely different gameplay on different screens, Look at Call of Juarez DX9vDX10, this video is DX9 maxed out.

Cough... There is no difference you idiot, its 1 video with a line running down it, Im not an idiot, i know more about computers, and Operating systems than you ever cold know in your entire life
The fact is, microsoft went through great lengths with DX10 to increase the performance. Hell, they rewrote it from the ground up to decrease the amount of interface calls (the real bottleneck). They added support for geometry shaders which basically allows developers to move more work from the CPU to the GPU. Note however that Crysis uses DX9 for rendering even when DX10 is available, unless your gfx card supports DX10. My guess is, yours doesn't.
Even if that isn't the case, DX10 wasn't only intended to make things prettier. A lot of it was to make the job easier for the developers, which it did. I guess this is a moot point for most consumers though.
The left side isn't the standart DirectX 9. The orginal DirectX 9 doesn't have got light rays. And if you load a spetial config then the diffrence is realy small.

Good point but it still makes me not see what difference. I have a xp and vista (xp with very high mod) and i can see a very little difference with dx 10 and dx 9 but to me it isn't worth it at all. Just for 20 pixels that have a different tone.
I now take back my statemen about motionblur in dx9, if you set r_motionblur_5 instead of r_motionblur_3, you get dx10 motionblur in dx9. Absolutely no difference. So dx10 is pretty much pointless now
Crysis warhead is different. In dx9, i think Godrays were disabled by the developers and the motion blur in dx9 is horrible. Too much ghosting. I think the developers did that on purpose to make people upgrade to vista because motion blur on the original crysis in dx9 is just as good as dx10.
actually there is a difference, even though its very subtle. You won't really notice it in a youtube video, but I think the weapons look slightly more realistic in dx10. Just slightly. However that may be the only difference from what i can tell.
just out of curiosity. How did manage to force very high settings on dxlevel 9? Because I can only use High on dxlevel9
