I saw Valdy at the Karma Coffee House (the Sir George Williams University Student Union building) in Montreal in the fall of 1973. I was trying to impress a girl. The girl is long gone, but I was transported by the simplicity, naturalness and beauty of Valdy's music and still think he's great.
What this song is about also happened to Don McLean, in the early 70's at Massey Hall he opened for The James Gang, he got booed like crazy, one guy yelled out "Get The F Of The Stage"
