No single lion can bring down an Elephant and indeed would never go near it, in fact there is a video on here where a pack of 7 lions fail (Although I have seen 10 do it) The lion is called the king due to the furry "main" which resembles how kings used to dress.

If you have been seeing videos of lions killing bull elephants, you need to stay off the drugs. To kill an elephant, lions would have to take it down. With enough of them, they can possibly take down a smaller one. The African bull elephant is usually around 13000 lbs. and 12 feet high at the shoulder. The largest ever recorded was 26400 lbs. They are just too big and strong to be taken down by even several lions. There is a video on Youtube showing a small female elephant fight off 8 lions.
